Pat Summerall dies at age 82

Pat Summerall was the calm alongside John Madden's storm. Over four decades, Summerall described some of the biggest games in America in his deep, resonant voice. Simple, spare, he delivered the details on 16 Super Bowls, the Masters and the U.S. Open tennis tournament with a simple, understated style that was the perfect complement for the ''booms!'' and ''bangs!'' of Madden, his football partner for the last half of the NFL player-turned-broadcaster's career. Summerall died Tuesday at age 82 of cardiac arrest, said University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center spokesman Jeff Carlton, speaking on behalf of Summerall's wife, Cheri.  ''Pat was my broadcasting partner for a long time, but more than that he was my friend for all of these years,'' Madden said in a statement. ''Pat Summerall is the voice of football and always will be.''

Jeanne Cooper Hospitalized: 'Young And The Restless' Actress In Critical Condition

The Young and The Restless actress Jeanne Cooper was hospitalized this weekend and is reportedly in critical condition. Cooper was hospitalized on Saturday, April 13 in Los Angeles. The 84-year-old reportedly is in the Intensive Care Unit, but her ailment has not been disclosed. Cooper's son, Psych and L.A.Law actor Corbin Bernsen, has been posting messages to his Facebook regarding his mother's hospitalization. He said the soap opera star has been progressing, and the family is thankful for the positive energy being sent her way. "Mom is steady, bumps in the road but heading in the right direction though still without guarantees and the absolutes I long for," he wrote on Monday. "Such is life, literally! God Bless all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers. They are the fuel right now and we're tapping into every ounce of it."

FOX removes 'Family Guy' episode from websites

FOX has pulled from websites a recent episode of "Family Guy" that depicts mass deaths at the Boston Marathon, and the network has no immediate plans to air it again. FOX spokeswoman Gaude Paez said Tuesday that the episode has been removed from Fox.com and Hulu.com. In the episode, protagonist Peter Griffin is asked by sports announcer Bob Costas about his performance at the marathon. A flashback shows Peter mowing down runners with his car. "I'll tell ya, Bob, I just got in my car and drove it," Griffin says. "And when there was a guy in my way, I killed him." Later, Peter befriends a terrorist who, unbeknownst to him, is plotting to blow up a bridge. When Peter dials a cellphone the friend has given him, explosions and screams are heard. On some websites, an edited clip has been circulating that fuses the two scenes, making it seem -- incorrectly -- as if the explosion was at the marathon. Some commenters have implied that the show "predicted" the bombings. "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane took to Twitter on Tuesday to vent anger over the edited clip and offer condolences to victims of Monday's bombings at the marathon. "The edited 'Family Guy' clip currently circulating is abhorrent," MacFarlane tweeted. "The event was a crime and a tragedy, and my thoughts are with the victims."

Anti Swatting Law Proposed

Would-be swatting pranksters better think twice about making bogus 911 calls ... a new bill is winding its way through the Legislature that aims to put them behind bars for a long time. This has become a huge problem in L.A. and there are no specific laws prohibiting the prank calls, although various laws can currently be used to prosecute anyone who's caught. If the bill becomes law ... swatters would be subject to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine ... and they could get even more time if the swatting prank results in someone getting hurt.  In that case it becomes a felony. Recent celebrity swatting victims include Justin Bieber, Diddy, Ryan Seacrest, Justin Timberlake, Tom Cruise and Rihanna.

Murder of a Cat

Nikki Reed has joined the cast of Gillian Greene-Raimi's black comedy "Murder of a Cat" as a character named Greta. The darkly comic noir follows a guy trying to unravel the mystery around the murder of his pet cat. Fran Kranz, Greg Kinnear and J.K. Simmons also star.
