"The Killing" is dead. AMC announced that the controversial series has been canceled after two seasons. "After much deliberation, we've come to the difficult decision not to renew 'The Killing' for a third season," AMC said in a statement. "AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast." Though "The Killing" earned critical acclaim when it first premiered on AMC in April 2011, the series experienced extreme backlash when the show's question, "Who killed Rosie Larsen?" wasn't answered by the end of Season 1. Sud assured the audience that the question would be resolved by the end of Season 2. "Our intent was not to mislead or betray," she explained. "We talked about the fans, and their passion, and all of the stuff that was being said on the internet. Katherine Jackson To File For Joint Custody Of Prince, Paris, Blanket

Just two days after she temporarily lost guardianship over her three grandchildren (the late Michael Jackson's children), Katherine Jackson will file for joint custody with the King of Pop's nephew, T.J. Jackson. A lawyer for the 82-year-old Katherine said that the new arrangement will lessen the burden of day-to-day tasks that have proved increasingly difficult for her while still maintaining her authority as a guardian of Prince, 15; Paris, 14; and Blanket, 10. Katherine lost her custody rights on July 25 after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled that she had been unable to oversee the children properly due to the involvement of others. The judge installed Michael's nephew T.J. (son of Tito) as a temporary guardian over Prince, Paris and Blanket. The "pleading will essentially now legally reflect how Mrs. Jackson and T.J. have often shared responsibilities of raising the children since Michael Jackson's tragic passing," Perry Sanders, a lawyer for Katherine, said. The new arrangement, Sanders notes, will still keep Katherine as the sole person in charge of the family's allowance, which is a reported $70,000 per month. On Thursday, the eldest Jackson child, Prince, tweeted a series of messages that expressed his disapproval of the way his family had handled the recent drama. He said that Katherine had been essentially manipulated and lied to, then threatened to "continue with the truth" . Katherine appeared to return home to the children in Los Angeles early Thursday morning. "Mrs. Jackson is extremely pleased with the prospect of enjoying the pleasure of raising Michael's children without the day to day tedium of items such as managing the large staff that goes with such a high profile family and focus her attention on being a grandmother and raising Michael's children," Sanders said. The 15-year-old tweeted early Thursday morning about the return of his grandmother Katherine, about the mistreatment from his aunts and uncles (including Janet, Austin and Rebbie) and about a warning issued from his late father, who he said "had repeatedly warned me of certain people and their ways." Prince's exigency comes at the behest of his two siblings, sister Paris, 14, and brother Blanket, 10. Prince had previously remained quiet about the bizarre series of events this week, which have seen his 82-year-old grandmother reported missing, found the next day at a resort in Arizona on doctor's orders, and then losing her guardianship over her three grandchildren. Early Thursday morning, Prince tweeted, "grandma's here! #thankyougod." Katherine temporarily lost custody of her son Michael Jackson's three children on July 25; a Los Angeles Superior Court judge installed Michael's nephew T. J. Jackson as the temporary guardian over the three children. In a statement she read on ABC's "Nightline," a disoriented Katherine said she was "devastated" to have lost her guardianship.

"But moving [from London to Los Angeles] and starting a life all over again was a lot harder than I had anticipated. I just didn’t think it would be as isolating and daunting as it turned out to be." Ross also said that early in their seven-year marriage she sometimes felt like a single parent to daughter Skyla, 7, and son Tennyson, 5, due to Sanders's frequent directing-related absences. "I would never say out loud that I am raising my children alone, but a lot of the time it has felt like that," she said. Ross, who also was a well-known model, added: "I went from the glamor of working with Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano to living on an isolated hilltop, with my husband gone most of the time"

Alleged Colorado Gunman's Family Stands by Son

The family of suspected gunman James Holmes said they will support the Ph.D student accused of entering a movie theatre last Friday and not leaving until he had killed 12 people and wounded another 58. Asked if they stand by Holmes, lawyer and family spokeswoman Lisa Damiani said at a press conference today, "Yes they do. He's their son." Damiani said the family was holding up "as well as anyone could under the circumstances." "I think everyone can imagine how they're feeling," Damiani said, "anyone who's ever been a parent." Damiani would not comment on the family's whereabouts or their relationship with Holmes. The spokeswoman said the family had spoken to investigators from California, but had not been contacted by police in Colorado. "No one from the Aurora Police Department has contacted us, or asked for assistance," she said. Through Damiani, the suspect's mother Arlene Holmes wanted to clarify a statement she made to ABC News in the immediate aftermath of the shooting Friday morning. ABC News phoned Arlene Holmes at 5am PST, at her home in San Diego, Calif., according to notes and email records by ABC News producer Matthew Mosk, who placed the call. Through her lawyer, Holmes today sought to clarify the remarks she made in that phone interview. "I did not know anything about a shooting in Aurora at that time," Arlene Holmes's said in statement read by her lawyer today. "He [Mosk] asked if I was Arlene Holmes and if my son was James Holmes, who lives in Aurora, Colorado. I answered yes, you have the right person. I was referring to myself. I asked him to tell me why he was calling and he told me about a shooting in Aurora. He asked for a comment. I told him I could not comment because I did not know if the person he was talking about was my son and I would need to find out." Mosk said today that he awoke Arlene Holmes and informed her that a man, he believed was her son had been arrested in Aurora and asked to confirm their relationship. "You have to tell me what happened… You have to tell me what happened," the woman on the phone said, according to Mosk. Mosk said he told her that ABC News had learned the 24-year-old had been identified by police as the lone suspect in the mass killing in Aurora, Colo and that the details of the events were still taking shape. "You have the right person," was her response, he said. "I need to call the police. I need to fly to Colorado."

Antonio Banderas & Melanie Griffith Are 'Absolutely Fine,' Says Source

Are Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith on the brink of divorce? Despite persistent Internet buzz that Banderas, 51, and Griffith, 54, are fighting to save their marriage, two sources maintain all is well with the couple of 15 years. "They seem absolutely fine. Honestly, they seem happy," a source who saw them together recently said. Rumors flew starting this spring, when Banderas, in Cancun to promote a new hotel, was photographed seemingly getting cozy with a blonde at a nightclub. Video has also surfaced of him dancing with actress Mallika Sherawat during a Cannes Film Festival party this year. Last week, Griffith was spotted around town in L.A. not wearing her wedding ring, which caused more speculation about her marital status. But she's also been spotted wearing her ring at recent events, including the Munich Film Festival in early July, which she attended solo. Banderas "is in Budapest filming and they'll be together again as soon as he's done," says another source close to the couple. "They really are very happy together." Banderas and Griffith have admitted their marriage isn't perfect. In September 2011, the actor told AARP The Magazine he and Griffith "have had as many problems as anybody." The couple first met in 1995 while filming Two Much.
Katherine Jackson Is Located: L.A. Police Police have had contact with Jackson family matriarch Katherine Jackson after her nephew reported her missing over the weekend. Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department says that they have spoken to Katharine, 82, and she is on a planned vacation in Arizona. In a statement, Katherine's son Jemaine blasted the missing-persons report, filed Saturday by Katherine's nephew Trent. "It dismays me that such an alarmist 'missing person' report has caused unnecessary anxiety among Michael's children who will understandably react to what they misunderstand, hear or are told," he wrote. Michael Jackson's daughter Paris – Katherine's granddaughter – previously wrote on Twitter that she was worried about Katherine. "yes, my grandmother is missing. i haven't spoken with her in a week i want her home now," she wrote. The drama reveals tension in the Jackson family after five of Michael Jackson's siblings recently claimed that his will was a fake, that Katherine was being manipulated, and that the executors of Michael's estate should step down. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is reportedly investigating the missing persons report that was filed, asking Jackson family member why the nephew was not aware of Katherine's whereabouts.

The Dark Knight Rises took in an estimated $162 million over the weekend, giving it a slightly better opening than its predecessor, but still less than either The Avengers or the final Harry Potter film. (Though pre-sale tickets are certainly a factor as well.)

2. Ice Age: Continental Drift $21 million
3. The Amazing Spider-Man $11 million

Anne Hathaway on shooting: 'My heart aches'

Following official condolences from The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan and co-star Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway has released a statement regarding the tragic shooting that took place in a Colorado theater on Friday. The statement reads in full: My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this unfathomably senseless act. I am at a loss for words how to express my sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Christopher Nolan has released a statement following the tragic events in Colorado in the early hours of July 20 — when a gunman opened fire at midnight screening of  The Dark Knight Rises. “Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of The Dark Knight Rises, I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting, but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families,” the director said. Christian Bale released a statement Saturday afternoon offering his condolences to the victims of the Aurora, Colo. theater shooting that left 12 dead. ”Words cannot express the horror that I feel,” Bale said in the statement. “I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

TV NEWS
ABC’s Golden Globe-nominated drama Revenge may have ended its first season run with a blast (literally), but the successful suspense thriller promises to start the second season by upping the level of excitement with the introduction of Jennifer Jason Leigh as Emily Thorne’s (Emily VanCamp) mysterious mother. The Single White Female star has been cast as the long thought dead mother of the enigmatic Emily and is described as a “volatile and dangerous woman who suffers from some serious mental issues.” Coming fresh off a recurring role on Weeds as Jill Price-Gray, Leigh’s character will join the series this September in its season two opener titled “Bound,” which will also feature the fate of the devious socialite Victoria Grayson.

Navigating the fallout from her tryst with Ricky C may be the least of Beckett’s problems this season on Castle. Heroes vet Jack Coleman is joining the show’s fifth season as a new antagonist for Stana Katic’s detective. Coleman will play a “well-liked U.S. senator who finds himself in conflict with Beckett.”

American Horror Story is adding another name to its crowded Season 2 call sheet: Clea Duvall. The Carnivàle actress has inked a deal to appear in multiple episodes of the FX thriller’s sophomore run. There’s no official word on who she’ll be playing.

Sylvester Stallone's Son Sage Found Dead | Sage Stallone Sylvester Stallone's 36-year-old son Sage Moonblood Stallone, who appeared with his father in Rocky V, was found dead in his Los Angeles home Friday. "Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son Sage Stallone," says a rep for the actor. "His compassion and thoughts are with Sage's mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man, his loss will be felt forever." Police officers were called to the house at 2:17 p.m. and discovered the body. There were no signs of foul play or forced entry. Sage, who Sylvester, 66, had with ex-wife Sasha Czack, was best known for appearing alongside his father in Rocky V, playing son Robert Balboa. He also appeared with his dad in 1996's Daylight. Officials will need another two months to determine what caused the death of Sylvester Stallone's eldest son Sage, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner said. The autopsy, which was completed Sunday, still requires the findings of toxicology tests, said the coroner's spokesman. This normally takes six weeks. In the meantime, there has been conflicting speculation about the possible cause of death. Some reports suggested Sage may have overdosed on prescription drugs. But his friend and lawyer, George Braunstein, said Sage never showed any signs of drug use or addiction, and didn't even drink. His final hours are also murky. Some published reports suggest he may have been dead for three days or longer by the time his body was found. But Braunstein believes that couldn't be true, saying photos of Sage at home were posted to his Facebook page just 17 hours before he was found. He wrote and directed the 2006 short film Vic, and said to be a film geek who idolized his father.

DMX Hospitalized in Four Wheeler Accident

DMX was hospitalized Saturday morning following a four-wheeler crash that left the rapper with a concussion.

DMX stated that he had been riding a four-wheeler outside of his South Carolina home when a down hill turn caused him to flip over. The rapper stated that he was lucky because he had landed on his bottom, and little injury was involved. "The rapper says he doesn't remember much, other than the lights from the ambulance, and he doesn't know when he will be released." Later this year DMX plans on releasing "Undisputed," his first album in six years. In 2009 MTV reported that the rapper had taken a break from the industry in order to study the bible. The rapper had allegedly claimed that he intended to pursue preaching in New Jersey and was able to complete a gospel album before he was incarcerated after pleaing guilty to aggravated assault. He was arrested twice in 2010 for reckless driving and drinking against his probation regulations while at a concert. Again last year, he was arrested for speeding.

Knicks' Kidd arrested on DWI charge

New York Knicks point guard Jason Kidd was arrested on a drunken-driving charge after police said he crashed his SUV into a telephone pole in the Hamptons on Sunday, days after signing with the Knicks. Treated at a hospital for minor injuries after the crash, Kidd was arraigned on a misdemeanor driving-while-intoxicated charge and released without bail, Southampton Town police said. Kidd's agent didn't immediately respond to phone or email messages. The Knicks, who signed the 10-time All-Star in free agency this week, had no immediate comment. Kidd, 39, was alone in the 2010 Cadillac Escalade when it hit a pole and veered into the woods around 2 a.m. in Water Mill, police said. Water Mill is a serene, mainly residential community east of Southampton Village. Kidd's next court date wasn't immediate available. The DWI charge carries the potential for up to a year in jail.  The Knicks signed Kidd away from the Dallas Mavericks this week in a deal that will pay him about $3 million a year. Kidd had played in New Jersey, leading the Nets to two NBA Finals appearances, before being traded to Dallas and remains fond of the New York City area, where his children continued to live. The two-time Olympic gold medalist has been in trouble with the law before. While playing with Phoenix in 2001, he was arrested on a domestic violence charge, acknowledging that he struck his former wife. Kidd is second on the NBA's career list in assists and steals. The Knicks believe Kidd, who helped the Mavericks win the 2011 NBA championship, would be a good mentor to point guard Jeremy Lin if the team opts to keep him.

She was 89. "Our mom was in a class all by herself. She epitomized class, elegance, and truly defined what it is to be a real lady," said Natalie Cole and her siblings, Timolin and Casey Cole, in a statement. "We are so blessed and privileged to have inherited the legacy that she leaves behind along with our father. Maria sang with the Count Basie Band before moving on to the Duke Ellington Orchestra, as its vocalist until 1946, when she became a soloist. She met Nat "King" Cole at New York's Club Zanzibar. "The couple traveled throughout Europe in the 1950s, and Maria recorded several songs with her husband for Capitol Records and sang at top venues in California and on the East Coast," said the family statement. After her husband's death, Maria did charity work as well as briefly co-hosted a local daytime TV talk show in Los Angeles. Natalie was born in 1950, and twins Timolin and Casey in 1961. Jesse Jackson Jr. Alcohol Addiction? Congressman's Office Denies Report Of Arizona Facility Treatment

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) is being treated for a mood disorder, according to a statement released by his office. From Jackson's doctor, via CNN: "The Congressman is receiving intensive medical treatment at a residential treatment facility for a mood disorder. He is responding positively to treatment and is expected to make a full recovery." Earlier reports about Jackson's condition suggested he was hospitalized due to alcoholism. NBC's Andrea Mitchell tweeted that Jackson was staying in a rehabilitation facility in Arizona where he was reportedly receiving treatment for alcoholism. That initial report claimed Jackson was also receiving treatment for addiction, but NBC Chicago later reported the congressman is only being treated for alcoholism. Jackson's office subsequently denied the NBC report, according to a tweet from ABC's John Parkinson. Sandi Jackson, Jackson's wife, further clarified to NBC Chicago that her husband is not in rehab, but did not provide additional details. Jackson, 47, went on medical leave June 10 but did not publicly disclose his decision until two weeks later. Last week, Jackson's office released a statement reporting that the congressman was being treated at an inpatient medical facility for "physical and emotional ailments" that are "more serious" than initially believed. Earlier Wednesday, both House Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) contributed to mounting pressure for an update on Jackson. On Tuesday, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Jackson's father, told an NBC affiliate in Chicago that it was "inappropriate" for him to disclose his son's medical condition. The Chicago Democrat is currently the subject of an ethics investigation related to Illinois' imprisoned former governor Rod Blagojevich, though Jackson has never been charged with any wrongdoing.

Rumors are flying around Cleveland that NBA champion LeBron James has a love child with fired 19 Action News WOIO Cleveland television anchor Sharon Reed, who was reportedly axed for violating the morals clause in her contract.  There are multiple reports that James, a native of Akron, Ohio, who played for the hometown Cleveland Cavaliers, fathered a child with Sharon Reed. Reed, a Cleveland native, has a long romantic history with the married James, with the two dating each other back when he was on the Cavs despite the fact LeBron was with longtime wifey Savannah Brimson. Some are pointing to Savannah's initial reluctance in joining King James on the court when the Miami Heat won last month's NBA championship as a sign that the Sharon Reed love child rumors are true. "According to sources close to Reed, it was an open secret at work that she has been seeing LeBron for years -- while he was with Savannah," the website reported. "When things started getting out of hand, the Cavaliers brass reportedly met with WOIO management to request that Reed not cover the Cavs home games. When Reed turned up pregnant last year there was no doubt in anyone's minds who the baby's father was."  James is allegedly helping out Reed financially, which isn't making her that concerned about finding new employment after being fired by 19 Action News WOIO.  The love child rumors are even more juicy considering Reed now lives in Miami, where King James won a championship with the Heat last month for his first NBA title.

Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes Keeping Divorce Deal Strictly Confidential

With reports swirling about everything from restrictions on Suri Cruise's nannies to her exposure to Scientology, Katie Holmes's lawyer warns the public to be wary of stories about the settlement with Tom Cruise. "There are numerous inaccuracies in the reports regarding the purported contents of the agreement reached between the parties," says attorney Jonathan Wolfe. "The agreement is confidential and its terms will not be disclosed." Holmes, 33, and Cruise, 50, announced on Monday morning that both sides had settled the divorce action just days after the actress filed papers. Holmes's attorney Jonathan Wolfe confirmed the deal in a statement: "The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life. This result could not have been achieved without the hard work of my partner Gary Skoloff and our co-counsel Allan Mayefsky, Michael Mosberg and Larry Trachtenberg of Aronson Mayefsky and Sloan and Peter Walzer and Chris Melcher of Walzer & Melcher in California. "We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution." Cruise's attorney Dennis Wasser separately said, "All the lawyers and the parties are happy that it's done, the deal was closed and we wish everyone well." There was no immediate word on the details, but Holmes and Cruise said in a separate statement they focused on protecting daughter Suri, 6. "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents," says the statement from Holmes and Cruise's reps, Nanci Ryder and Amanda Lundberg respectively.

Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has signed on to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, as Plutarch Heavensbee, the politically crafty Head Gamemaker who oversees the 75th Annual Hunger Games.  Hoffman is the first new actor to officially join the wildly popular franchise, alongside stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, and Donald Sutherland. Actress Jena Malone has reportedly signed up to play tribute Johanna Mason — EW first reported that Malone was in the running for the role — but Lionsgate has yet to confirm that casting. Director Francis Lawrence is aiming to start shooting Catching Fire later this year. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set to hit theaters on Nov. 22, 2013.

D'Angelo, Mary J. Blige team up for Liberation tour
After separately dazzling the Essence Music Festival this weekend, R&B veterans D'Angelo and Mary J. Blige are teaming up for a co-headlining trek dubbed the Liberation tour. Although only four East Coast dates for the joint tour have been announced, Blige tells Rolling Stone that the run will be 20 dates long. The first announced date of the tour is Aug. 18 in Virginia Beach, and tickets are currently on sale through Live Nation. For D'Angelo, the co-headlining tour marks another step in the comeback of a legendary, long-reclusive singer. He played his first U.S. show in over a decade when he made a surprise stop at Bonnaroo last month, and after performing at Essence Fest on Friday night, the singer is booked for Jay-Z's inaugural Made in America festival in September. Meanwhile, Blige is coming off the 2011 release of her 10th studio album, "My Life II ... The Journey Continues (Act 1)." In 2008, Blige co-headlined the Heart of the City tour with Jay-Z. Here are the announced dates for the D'Angelo-Mary J. Blige Liberation tour: Aug. 18 in Virginia Beach, Va. (Farm Bureau Live); Aug. 19 in Wantagh, N.Y. (Nikon Theatre at Jones Beach); Aug. 21 in Boston (Bank of America Pavilion) and Aug. 23 in Holmdel, N.J. (PNC Bank Arts Center).

Olympus Has Fallen

Gerard Butler plays an unlikely Secret Service agent trying to stop North Korean terrorists who have taken over the White House. Hauser plays a fellow Secret Service agent.

Chumbawamba get knocked down, break up after 30 years
They get knocked down, but this time they won't get up again. Though the world seems to have long since forgotten about '90s rock group Chumbawamba -- of "Tubthumping" fame -- the band members announced on their official website plans to dissolve after a three-decade career. The statement, posted on the aptly titled Chumba.com, detailed the members' plans to end things "with neither a whimper, a bang or a reunion. Thirty years of ideas and melodies, endless meetings and European tours, press releases, singalong choruses and Dada sound poetry, finally at an end." The band had remained relatively inactive in recent years, although they performed in and recorded the soundtrack for the "Big Society!" musical in Leeds earlier this year. Chumbawamba plan to play their way out of 2012 with a string of fall and early winter shows. "We do, of course, reserve the right to re-emerge as Chumbawamba doing something else entirely," the statement reads, closing with what seems to be the nail in the coffin: "frankly, that's not very likely." "Tubthumping," the group's 1997 hit, peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent nine weeks at No. 1 on the Pop Songs chart. Chumbawamba's "Tubthumper" album hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 3.2 million sold in the U.S.
Olympics 2012: Women's Volleyball Team Strips Down for ESPN Magazine We've heard Olympians talk about how they keep their bodies in tip-top condition. Now it's time to let those bodies speak for themselves. In this week's issue of ESPN Magazine, the U.S. Women's Indoor Volleyball Team stripped down naked and flaunted their toned, athletic bodies. The shoot – part of the magazine's fourth annual Body Issue – was meant to show off the results of their rigorous exercise routines. "I was a little nervous about doing the shoot, but looking back, I'm glad I did it," said team member Megan Hodge. "I thought it was a cool, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show the world the work we put in every day."

Destiny's Child to drop unreleased music this fall
The esteemed ladies of Destiny's Child have been able to pay their own automo-bills for quite some time, but now Bey, Kelly, Michelle and possibly those other original members no one remembers are about to blast to the past as new music hits shelves in November. Alas, Beyonce, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland didn't take time out of their thriving solo careers to reunite in the studio. Mathew Knowles spoke about this and other upcoming ventures, including the likelihood of a full-on Destiny's Child reunion tour. "It takes a year of planning to do these tours, but first it starts with the artist wanting to do it," Knowles said. "I hope in the next five years that there is a reunion tour. I think it would be incredible. The hardest thing would be choosing which songs they're going to do, because we would want to mix it up with solo hits and Destiny's Child hits. We would have to throw away some number ones from off the set list."
