Giuliana Rancic: I Have Breast Cancer

Giuliana Rancic said Monday that she has breast cancer, having discovered a tumor during a mammogram while undergoing another round of in-vitro fertilization in an effort to get pregnant. The E! News and Style Network host, 37, made the emotional announcement on NBC's Today show. She will undergo surgery this week and then have six weeks of radiation therapy. The cancer has been detected early, and the prognosis is good, she said. Rancic was going to wait until 40 to have a mammogram, but her IVF doctor suggested she have one now. She says she will still push to have a baby, following one IVF attempt that ended in a miscarriage and a second that didn't work. "I still want this baby ... because this baby has saved my life," she said. "I truly feel God was looking out after me … If I had gotten pregnant later down the line, I could have been a lot sicker." She also says her husband, Bill Rancic, has been "unbelievable. The best thing about Bill is, he lets me cry when I want to cry."

Hannah Montana Star Arrested for DUI
While one Disney star just made headlines for getting engaged, another is making them for reportedly breaking the law. Mitchel Musso, who played one of Miley Cyrus's sidekicks on Hannah Montana, was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of DUI, according to police. With a blood-alcohol level "well over" the legal limit of .08, Burbank, Calif., Sgt. Sean Kelly told the Burbank Leader that Musso "drove through [an] intersection and failed to do what [an] officer instructed him to do." Because Musso, 20, is not of legal drinking age (which is 21), Kelly said any alcohol in his body would be considered illegal. Musso, who was pulled over in his black 2007 Mercedes Benz at the time of his arrest, posted $5,000 bail and was released from jail.

Sonic Youth, including indie-rock pioneers Moore and Gordon, will go ahead with its South American tour in November as planned, Catherine Herrick, a spokeswoman for Beggars Group, the owner of the band's Matador label, said in a statement. Husband gets Dodgers in McCourt divorce deal
The couple who bought the Los Angeles Dodgers seven years ago announced Monday they've agreed that the husband, Frank McCourt, will get the baseball team in their pending divorce. With the marital spat settled, McCourt still must persuade a judge to let him keep the team, which he placed into bankruptcy after Major League Baseball blocked him from signing a television deal to provide it with the cash needed to meet its payroll. "The terms of the settlement, which is already in effect, will remain private," a joint statement from both McCourts said. "Jamie will be withdrawing her opposition to the Dodgers proposed sale of media rights and instead will be filing papers in support of the process proposed by the Dodgers." The $3 billion television deal with Fox Sports was the centerpiece of an early divorce settlement that fell through when Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig blocked the deal, saying he couldn't approve one "structured to facilitate the further diversion of Dodgers assets for the personal needs of Mr. McCourt." The bankruptcy could force the team to be sold to pay off debts, something Selig has advocated. Jamie McCourt's representative issued a separate statement Monday saying McCourt was "pleased that this matter has been fairly resolved in the best interests of her family and the Dodgers' fans, players and organization."

Hip Hop stars Kanye West, Jay-Z sued

Kanye West and Jay-Z have hit a bum note with one songwriter who claims they lifted his material without permission. The two hip hop moguls are being sued by musician Syl Johnson, who claims in a suit filed in U.S. District Court in Illinois Friday alleging that West and Jay-Z sampled his 1967 song "Different Strokes" for a tune on their recent collaboration "Watch the Throne." According to Johnson's suit, the pair had first solicited permission to sample "Different Strokes" on the song "The Joy" for West's album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," but were shot down, and the song was left off the album. The tune ended up on "Watch the Throne," which was released in August. According to the suit, the defendants claim they received permission to sample the song from an entity called the Numero Uno Group, which has never had any authorization to license the tune. "Different Strokes" has been sampled by a number of artists, including Michael Jackson, Kid Rock and Will Smith, the lawsuit states. Johnson, who also names Island Def Jam, Universal Music Group and Roc-a-Fella Records in the suit, is seeking actual and punitive damages to be determined at a jury trial.

Accused Halle Berry stalker ordered to stand trial

A judge ruled Monday that a man charged with stalking Halle Berry should stand trial on two charges filed after he was repeatedly seen on the actress' property earlier this year. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Melissa Widdifield issued her ruling after hearing from two witnesses called during a preliminary hearing to show some of evidence against Richard A. Franco, who has pleaded not guilty to burglary and stalking charges. He was charged after police arrested him outside Berry's home in July after he was seen on the property three times in three days. Los Angeles police Detective John Gregozek testified that when Franco was caught, he was carrying a key to Berry's guesthouse, where the Oscar-winning actress has her beauty salon and some of her wardrobe. Gregozek said Franco apparently obtained the key on July 10, when he entered the house for about 20 seconds after Berry left the salon area to go to her kitchen. Franco was standing outside her kitchen door when Berry spotted him and locked the door and called police. Berry did not attend the hearing, but Gregozek told the judge the actress is still afraid of Franco.

Lindsey Back in Court
Lindsey Lohan will be back in court on Wednesday to face a judge who could, if she wants to, toss the actress back in jail for up to a year and a half. Judge Stephanie Sautner will have a lot of questions, including why Lindsay was a no-show 9 times at the Downtown Women's Center, where she was performing her community service and why Lindsay didn't stay the full four hours during the days when she did show up.  She'll ask why she had to be transferred to do her community service to the American Red Cross and why she hasn't kept up with her psychiatric appointments every Monday.

Sons of Anarchy, FX’s highest-rated series ever, has been picked up for a fifth season. The drama about an outlaw biker club is the No. 1 scripted drama series in all of basic cable. Season four which concludes on Nov. 29 is averaging 5.8 million viewers and 3.9 viewers ages 18-49.

True Blood is introducing several new characters in season 5. Creator Alan Ball and his team of scribes have put out a casting call for someone to play Nora, a beautiful and intelligent 25-to-35 something who plays a double agent within the Vampire Authority. What’s even better than that? She’s got a big history with Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) because she’s a progeny of Godric. Nora will be a series regular role.

It looks like Dr. Megan Hunt’s personal life suddenly has a pulse. Battlestar Galactica vet Jamie Bamber is joining the cast of ABC’s Body of Proof as a love interest for Dana Delany’s medical examiner. His character, Scott Decker, is described as a blue collar and sexy. I’m told Bamber is on board for at least three episodes, the first of which is slated to air in late November.

Jamie Bamber is also set to guest star as a patient with a big secret in the Nov. 7 episode of House.

The AMC series was welcomed back by 7.3 million total viewers in its 9 pm airing — a 38 percent surge over the show’s Season 1 average — with 4.8 million of ‘em falling into the coveted 18-49 crowd.
