Sammi Kane Kraft, Pitcher in 'Bad News Bears,' Dies at 20 Sammi Kane Kraft, whose baseball skills earned her the role of a youth league pitcher in the 2005 remake of "The Bad News Bears," died in a Los Angeles car crash. She was 20.  Kraft was a passenger in an Audi that rear-ended a big rig and was struck by another car at about 1:30 a.m. local time Tuesday on Interstate 10, The Los Angeles Times reported. Her brother, Frankie Kane, told the Times that Kane was pronounced dead at a hospital. The California Highway Patrol said the Audi's 21-year-old driver was treated for moderate injuries and arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.Kraft was 13 when she was discovered on a Los Angeles baseball diamond and cast in her only film. She played Amanda Whurlitzer, a role originally played by Tatum O'Neal in 1976, the only girl on the misfit Bears team. Kraft's fastball was clocked at 75 mph during a casting call in Encino, Calif., in 2005, the Los Angeles Daily News reported at the time. The mound-to-plate distance on a Little League diamond is 46 feet. "Amanda is such a character that you can't 'out-Tatum' Tatum O'Neal, so we wanted to get a real girl who could do it," the film's director, Richard Linklater, said in a 2005 interview with the Daily News. "I didn't want to keep cutting to some boy with a wig on who could throw."

Robin Roberts Goes Home from Hospital
She began making plans to go home right after her bone-marrow transplant last month. Now, Robin Roberts has her cherished wish. "There's no place like home. After 30 days in the hospital I'm home," the Good Morning America anchor wrote Thursday on Twitter. "Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Thank YOU and bless YOU. XO." Roberts, 51, who is being treated for a rare blood disorder called myelodysplastic syndrome, says she feels good, but there is still a long road ahead. "I am considered 21 days old. That's how long it has been since my transplant," she writes on her GMA blog. "Remember when you brought your baby home for the first time? Your precious bundle didn't leave the house much and you were careful that anyone who came in contact with your child was healthy." Thus, she plans to remain on hiatus from morning TV "until I'm given the all clear." But she is optimistic that day will come soon. "Each day I get stronger and stronger," she writes. "I am fond of saying, 'This too shall pass.' And even in some dark moments, of which there are still a few, I now see that light at the end of the tunnel. This too really shall pass."
It turns out that the blinding bling Bobbi Kristina Brown has been wearing on her finger is an engagement ring. The 19-year-old is planning to marry her controversial boyfriend Nick Gordon. In a promo for "The Houstons: On Our Own" — the reality show about how Whitney Houston's family has been coping after her death — Brown giggles as she breaks the news that she is engaged to 22-year-old Gordon. Let's just say the reaction isn't celebratory — it's more of a stunned silence. Brown's aunt Pat Houston, who was Whitney's manager and best friend, says, "Engagement? This is unacceptable."Brown's relationship with Gordon — which began after Whitney's death — has raised eyebrows for multiple reasons. First, there's the age factor. Brown is still a teenager. Plus, she's mourning the loss of her mother, who died suddenly in February. But a bigger issue — as you'll see in the clip — is that Houston took Gordon in as a teenager and raised him as her own, alongside Brown. So the family is uncomfortable that the relationship has turned romantic. "No one knew that from a godson you would turn into a boyfriend," Whitney's brother, Gary Houston, says while confronting Gordon in the clip. Gordon shoots back, "Nobody has to be in my business." Brown's beau goes on to say that the family has wrongly made him out to be "a bad person." Gordon himself isn't doing much to help his reputation. Late last month he took to his Twitter account to post a photo of himself behind the wheel of a car while pointing a handgun in the air. The photo was later removed from the social media site. In the new issue of People he addressed the controversy, admitting it was a mistake in judgment. Meanwhile, late last month the Houston family — spearheaded by Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston — filed legal papers asking a Georgia judge to modify the existing terms of the late singing superstar's will. Brown is the sole beneficiary of Houston's estate, so the family wants to restructure the inheritance payouts in an attempt to prevent anyone from trying to take advantage of her. The legal papers stated that Brown is a "highly visible target for those who would exert undue influence over her inheritance and/or to seek to benefit from [her] resources and celebrity." No hearing date has been scheduled on the matter. "The Houstons: On Our Own." The Lifetime series will premiere on Wednesday, October 24.

Police Seize Drugs Aboard Rapper Nelly's Bus

Police found a large amount of drugs during a search of Nelly's tour bus Wednesday as it passed through a notorious Texas border crossing, and one member of the rapper's entourage was arrested. The Hudspeth County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Nelly was aboard the bus when it was stopped last night in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Officers conducting a routine check with a canine discovered over 10 pounds of marijuana, 36 small bags (.64 ounces) containing heroin and a loaded .45-caliber pistol, according to the sheriff's office. Police say one of the passengers in the bus -- identified as Brian Keith Jones -- "freely admitted that the controlled substances along with the weapon belonged to him" and was placed under arrest. Jones was being held at the Hudspeth County jail until a bond hearing is held. The Sierra Blanca border stop in west Texas is a known snagging point for celebrities caught with drugs. Last month, singer Fiona Apple was arrested at the checkpoint after police said they found marijuana aboard her tour bus, and other stars allegedly caught there with pot include Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson and Armie Hammer.
Meet Tori Spelling's Baby Boy Finn! Twenty weeks into Spelling's fourth pregnancy, doctors diagnosed her with a condition known as placenta previa -- a condition in which the placenta covers the cervix, leading to massive internal bleeding. She was even at risk for a bleed catastrophic enough to force doctors to terminate her pregnancy. The actress and reality star, 39, spent 10 weeks in the hospital and four grueling months on bed rest, worrying about dying and leaving her family behind. But she kept her ordeal secret from fans. In the new issue of Us Weekly, on stands Friday, the mother of four shares the emotional story of her terrifying pregnancy with son Finn. "I just remember thinking, I can't leave three children behind," Spelling, 39, tells Us exclusively of Liam, 5, Stella, 4, and Hattie, 12 months, who she shares with husband of six years Dean McDermott. The Craft Wars host's condition was caused in part by conceiving Finn just one month after giving birth to daughter Hattie, and undergoing three prior C-sections.

Jodie Foster lands next directing gig

Jodie Foster’s first three films as a director have been, at their core, family tales — 1991′s Little Man Tate followed a mother and her genius son; 1995′s Home for the Holidays chronicled a dysfunctional family’s wild Thanksgiving; and 2011′s The Beaver traced how one man’s twisted psyche affects his entire family. For her next step behind the camera, it appears Foster is in the mood for something rather different. The two-time Oscar-winning actress is attached to helm the financial media thriller Money Monster, about Lee Gates, the host of a popular financial TV show who gets taken hostage on live television by a viewer who lost everything thanks to a bad tip from Gates. Naturally, the ratings skyrocket. There are no actors yet attached, but the film is set to begin filming in early 2013. Foster will next appear as an actress in the sci-fi thriller Elysium, out March 1, 2013.
WILD GOLD CHASE Rapper RZA makes his directorial debut in The Man with the Iron Fists Wu-Tang Clan rapper RZA raised $20 million for his directorial debut, a martial-arts epic set in 19th-century China starring Lucy Liu as a brothel madam and Oscar winner Russell Crowe as a mercenary. The hip-hop giant himself plays the titular role of a blacksmith who gets caught in the middle of chopsocky mayhem when a much-sought-after shipment of gold travels through his village. So, what's a black blacksmith doing in 19th-century China? RZA admits he's taken some liberties with history. ''It's like my own little f---ing Star Wars universe,'' he says. RZA created that universe in Shanghai, where he admits shooting was not always easy. ''At some points we had about 400 people on set and maybe a dozen spoke English,'' recalls the man born Robert Diggs. ''But I'm a guy who takes on big challenges.'' Another big challenge: getting Crowe to sign on to the movie in the first place. ''We became friends over the years, but he was like, 'I'm not doing a f---ing kung fu film. I'm a f---ing thespian, Bobby!' '' laughs RZA. ''I was like, 'Trust me, Russ, I'm an artist.' And he trusted me.'' Release Date: Nov 02, 2012; Rated: R.

TV NEWS
It appears that Teen Wolf may be down a man next season. Colton Haynes is not returning to the MTV series for Season 3. Haynes, whose lacrosse player character Jackson Whittemore went from reptilian Kanima to werewolf last season, hinted at his exit on Twitter, saying: “These past few years have been the best of my life. I’m sad that this chapter has ended, but excited for a new one to begin. Thx for the love.” despite the reported change in Haynes’ status, which they say is a result of failed contract negotiations, the actor could come back to the show at some point. Meanwhile, an MTV spokesperson issued the following statement to TVLine: “Absolutely no truth that Colton is being pushed out or that he, or any cast member, is being replaced. We love Colton and look forward to his returning with the entire cast for Season 3 of Teen Wolf.”
