Gary Collins, a familiar TV figure throughout the '80s as both an actor and show host, died early Saturday. He was 74. Collins succumbed to natural causes just before 1 a.m. Saturday in Biloxi, Miss. He lived in Biloxi and died in the hospital. In addition to leading roles in three short-lived TV series, including The Wackiest Ship in the Army, Collins, with his all-Amercan looks, made a number of guest appearances on such successful shows as Perry Mason, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Love Boat and Charlie's Angels. He became best known as the host of the syndicated Hour Magazine – for which he won an Emmy in 1983 – as well as The Home Show. Collins also emceed the Miss America Pageant from 1982-1990 – and married a former Miss America, Mary Ann Mobley, though they had separated last year. The couple wed in 1967 and have one daughter together, Mary Clancy. Collins had a number of run-ins with the law in recent years, including a DUI conviction in 2009. alg_last-dragon_leo-obrien.jpgStars of ‘The Last Dragon’ Taimak Guarriello, left, and Leo O'Brien, right, film 'I've Seen Things’ on 135th St. in Harlem in 2011. O’Brien died at age 41 Wednesday morning.   Leo O'Brien, a star of the cult classic "The Last Dragon," died in New York on Wednesday at age 41, family and friends said. The cause of death was not released. An autopsy was inconclusive, and the medical examiner’s office is awaiting toxicology results. His friend and former castmate Taimak Guarriello said only, “He’s been having a little problem.” "He's been through a lot of tough times," Guarriello said. "It's unfortunate." O’Brien, who was trying to put his checkered past behind him and resurrect an acting career, was shot three times in Harlem a year ago after an argument with an acquaintance.  After hearing about the shooting last September, Guarriello reached out to O’Brien, visited him in the hospital and rekindled their friendship. The two began filming a short indie flick a month later, their first collaboration since the 1985 martial arts movie produced by Berry Gordy. O’Brien — who ran several businesses after a string of arrests that landed him in jail for eight years — was cast as a charming Harlem gangster. The movie has not been released, but Guarriello said he had hoped to include O'Brien in other upcoming projects. "He was very talented," he said. "It wasn't like he lost his talent." In “The Last Dragon,” Guarriello played the lead character, Bruce Leroy, and O’Brien played his charismatic little brother, Richie.
More than 20 years after the couple met playing lovers in the 1990 movie The Crossing, Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer may not have their Hollywood happy ending after all. The couple first met in 1990 on the set of the low-budget Australian movie "The Crossing," and they weathered his 2005 arrest for hurling a phone at a New York concierge. They have two sons: Charles, 8, and Tennyson, 6. The actor-turned-sometime rocker was in New York over the weekend belting out tunes onstage. Spencer, an actress and singer who appeared over the summer on the Down Under version of "Dancing With the Stars," apparently remains in Sydney with their children. The ostensible split comes on the heels of a busy professional time for Crowe. His jam-packed slate includes the biblical flick "Noah," the "Superman" reboot and the Oscar bait-y "Les Miserables." his work commitments have kept him away from home for much of the year. In January, the family settled into a $10 million Sydney home. Crowe and Spencer dated for several years after their 1990 meeting, but parted ways as friends when he headed to Hollywood. They reconnected soon after his high-profile romance with Meg Ryan fizzled out in 2001 (and her America's Sweetheart label with it). He popped the question in December 2002, and they married on his farm in April 2003. As rumours of the split surfaced late on Saturday (13Oct12), Crowe was co-hosting The Indoor Garden Party with pal Alan Doyle at the Gramercy Theatre in New York. The Gladiator star, who is a frequent Twitter user, has yet to comment on the break-up stories - his last posts focused on Saturday night's music and comedy concert and his cycling and work-out regimen. Hours before news of the split leaked, he wrote, "yesterday 11.6km bike ride to work, 30 mins (minutes) yoga, light weights today so far 14.5 km stat bike, 20 mins light weights."
Actor Alfonso Ribeiro – best known as Will Smith's uptight cousin on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – has tied the knot. On Saturday, the actor wed fiancée Angela Unkrich in California. This is the second marriage for Ribeiro, who has a 9-year-old daughter, Sienna, with ex-wife Robin Stapler. He and Unkrich, 31, were engaged in July. The Bronx-born Ribeiro hit the big time as a child star in the '80s, dancing in a Pepsi commercial with Michael Jackson and playing Rick Schroder's sidekick on the sitcom Silver Spoons from 1984 to 1987. He went on to play spoiled Carlton Banks opposite Smith on Fresh Prince, and the character's awkward "Carlton dance" to the Tom Jones hit "It's Not Unusual" became a Gen Y favorite. He later performed his moves in an L.A. flash mob that became a YouTube sensation.

He was unable to get up and flipped the ball weakly toward second base. After a few moments, he was helped off the field -- unable to put any weight on his left foot."His ankle is fractured," said Yankees manager Joe Girardi. "It will be a three-month recovery period. It won't threaten his career, but he won't be playing any more this season."Jeter went 1-for-5 in the game and became the first player to ever record 200 career hits in the postseason.Girardi indicated after the game that infielder Eduardo Nunez would replace Jeter on the roster.
