John Edwards Has a Life-Threatening Heart Condition

A federal judge revealed that John Edwards is suffering from a life-threatening heart condition. The former presidential candidate, 58, previously sought a delay in his criminal corruption trial. Last month, his attorneys said he had an unspecified medical issue. Now, the trial has been delayed until at least March 26 and U.S. District Judge Catherine Eagles said she had letters from cardiologists to verify the politician's condition. Edwards, 58, is expected to undergo an unspecified procedure next month. "The letters from Mr. Edwards’s physicians are pretty clear this is a serious condition," Eagles said. Last year, the troubled politician was charged with illegally using campaign contribitions to cover up an affair. He has pleaded not guilty.

Paula Deen to come clean about diabetes on 'Today'

Celebrity chef Paula Deen plans to set the record straight about rumors that she's been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes on a Tuesday "Today" appearance on NBC. On Thursday, the rumor -- which first surfaced in a 2010 National Enquirer story -- took on new life when The Daily reported that Deen was preparing not only to confirm the diagnosis, but had signed a multi-million dollar deal to become a spokesperson for the diabetes drug Novartis. Deen -- considered the doyenne of Southern cooking -- built her reputation on high calorie, high fat recipes and an unapologetic affinity for butter. In August 2011, chef and TV personality Anthony Bourdain called Deen "the worst, most dangerous person to America." Deen also appeared on the "Dr. Oz" show in October and asked for help to quit smoking cigarettes. Earlier this month "Not My Mother's Meals" -- a cooking show hosted by Deen's son -- debuted on the Cooking Channel.
Mena Suvari Files for Divorce Mena Suvari is calling it quits on her 18-month marriage to concert producer Simone Sestito. and asked that Sestito receive no spousal support. She indicated that the pair's separation date was Nov. 1, 2011. Suvari and Sestito married in June 2010 in Italy, holding a private church in the Vatican City in what the pair called a "romantic" wedding. The couple met at the Toronto Film Festival in 2007 and were engaged in 2008.

'Contraband' Overperforms With $24M in First Weekend

The Martin Luther King holiday weekend is deiivering strong numbers at the box office, with Universal's "Contraband" and Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" enjoying better-than-expected openings. "Contraband," an R-rated thriller starring Mark Wahlberg, grossed $24 million, and "Beauty and the Beast" took $18.5 million over the three days. But "Joyful Noise," Alcon's religious-themed musical, stumbled. In fact, "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" -- now in its fifth week of release -- had a better weekend than "Joyful Noise." Sinead Swears Off Romance, Calls Off Her Marriage Again! | Sinead O'Connor
Love is not for Sinead O'Connor. Neither, she says, are the journalists of her native Ireland. "Certain sections of our media are pure evil," the singer, whose lively website has chronicled her marital travails, states in a blog post Friday. "These people, along with others caused enormous damage deliberately and maliciously to my innocent flower of a husband, purely because he was with me," O'Connor writes of husband Barry Herridge – whom she wed on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas, then separated from 16 days later. "It is now over and I hope the media will kindly leave the poor man alone to get on with his life," she writes. As for herself, Sinead writes, "I will never again associate myself romantically with anyone, as I could not bear to see these things done again to someone I love."
