'Brat Pack' actor Anthony Michael Hall arrested

The actor -- perhaps best known for such '80s John Hughes fare as "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club" -- was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace and taken into custody Monday night, after allegedly engaging in a disturbance at his Playa del Rey, Calif., condominium complex. The actor, 43, was arrested at approximately 9:50 p.m. after Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the residence. Hall's neighbor told police that the actor had torn up plants in the common area of the condominium. When confronted, the neighbor claimed, Hall hurled an obscenity and threatened to beat the neighbor "to a pulp." Hall was transported to the LAPD Pacific Division Jail, where he posted $500 bail and was released. Hall, who has made a couple of guest appearances on NBC's "Community" in recent years, also had a part in 2008's "The Dark Knight," as "Gotham Tonight" host Mike Engel.

Actor Wesley Snipes loses latest appeal

A federal appeals court in Atlanta today rejected arguments by lawyers for Wesley Snipes that could have led to a new trial for the Orlando-born movie star. Snipes' lawyers had challenged a lower court's order denying a request to interview jurors who found the actor guilty of willfully failing to file federal tax returns during a period of years in which he earned millions from his movies. Snipes, 49, is serving a three-year sentence in federal prison. The appellate decision agreed with U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges, who ruled that post-trial emails sent to defense lawyers by a member of the jury were inadmissible because they concerned jury deliberations. The emails alleged that members of the jury panel presumed Snipes was guilty before the trial began. The federal appeals ruling said that even if the emails had been admissible, "they did not constitute clear, strong, substantial and incontrovertible evidence of the type of misconduct that would warrant a new trial." Snipes, best known as the vampire-killing hero in the science-fiction serial "Blade," also portrayed a wrongly accused fugitive in the drama "U.S. Marshals." He is serving his sentence at a federal prison in northwest Pennsylvania, about 90 miles south of Buffalo, N.Y.

Jaguars cut QB David Garrard just days before season opener

The Jacksonville Jaguars' move to inform longtime starting quarterback David Garrard. The Jags cut Garrard on Tuesday, just days before their season opener against division-rival Tennessee. "As always, we seek to play the best players," head coach Jack Del Rio said at a Tuesday afternoon press conference. "And as I've said before, I think it's imperative that we have the courage to do what is best for the football team. I can say that this decision was pure football [general manager] Gene [Smith] and I met at length over the last several weeks about the position. There was never any pressure to make this anything other than a pure football decision. "David had a nice run here — we were joined at the hip from the time in 2007 when we made him the starter. But he wasn't able to get it going this preseason, and he even admitted that when we talked today. He for whatever reason just has not been able to find a rhythm, and be his old self. With that being the case, we just had to make a decision." The short-term plan is to start Luke McCown in Garrard's place, with first-round pick Blaine Gabbert as the long-term fix. The Jags traded up to pick Gabbert, so it was obvious that Garrard's days were numbered, but everyone involved kept the inevitable hidden very well. Few expected the conclusion this late in the game.

My Chemical Romance Fire Drummer With Sticky Fingers

My Chemical Romance's relationship with fill-in drummer Michael Pedicone is already kaput. Pedicone, who replaced Bob Bryar in late 2010, has been booted from the New Jersey band for theft. "He was caught red handed stealing from the band and confessed to police after our show in Auburn, Washington," guitarist Frank Iero writes in a blog post titled "Just the Facts," failing to specify whether Pedicone was busted for swiping money, equipment, or something else. "We are heartbroken and sick to our stomachs over this entire situation," Iero continues. "The band has no intention of pressing charges or taking this matter any further than we have to. We just want him out of our lives. The people who play in this band are a family, and family should not take advantage of each other like he did." An apologetic Pedicone tweeted a mea culpa, "What happened is more complicated than it sounds but I did make a mistake. It was never my intention to hurt this band or all of you. ... It was an error in judgment based on a whole other situation that's way deeper but this does not define me."
