Rapper T.I. out of prison, gets reality TV show

Grammy Award-winning rapper T.I. was released after almost a year in prison Wednesday, and a TV network swiftly announced a reality show deal with him. The Atlanta entertainer, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was sentenced in October 2010 to 11 months in prison stemming from weapons possession and drugs charges. It was his second stint behind bars in three years. A U.S. Bureau of Prisons spokesman said the musician would spend the next month in a residential transition facility. Hours later, cable channel VH1 said it had teamed up with the 30-year-old "Got Your Back" singer for a 10 episode series that will follow his readjustment to outside life and the making of a new album. "Can the 'King of the South' stay on the straight and narrow while juggling the chaos of his kingdom?" VH1 said in a statement. The series will premiere on December 5.

Former Giants RB Tiki Barber engaged to Traci Lynn Johnson

Tiki Barber, the former New York Giants running back, proposed to his girlfriend, Traci Lynn Johnson. Barber, 36, is still in the middle of a bitter divorce battle with his wife Ginny, whom he left in 2009 while she was pregnant with their twin daughters. While working for NBC as a football analyst, Barber met Johnson. And he reportedly left his wife for Johnson, a 24-year-old former NBC intern. In late 2010, NBC declined to renew his contract. "I was in a bad marriage," Barber said in a June 2011 interview with HBO's Bryant Gumbel. "It was in trouble for a long time. And we decided to get separated. But Ginny got pregnant in the middle of it. And a lot of people think children save marriages; sometimes it makes it worse. And we split soon after she was pregnant. "And I was on my own for a few days, and then I moved in with Tracy. And then, five months later, here comes the New York Post stalking me." Barber announced his retirement from football in 2007, but decided in early 2011 that he’d return to the NFL. He has worked out for a few teams, including the Dolphins, but has yet to land with a franchise for the 2011 season. Appearing on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel,” Barber said football represents a necessary anchor in a life turned upside down by the depressive aftermath of scandalous divorce and disintegration of his television career.

Mel Settles Custody Agreement
After nearly two years of drama, Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva have finally reached an agreement in their custody settlement. Mel has agreed to give $750,000 to Oksana as part of their settlement. Additionally, Mel will be required to set up a fund for their daughter Lucia, who turns 2 in October. Lucia and Oksana will continue living in the multi-million dollar home that Mel pays for until Lucia turns 18, at which point the home will be sold and the proceeds will be placed in a trust for Lucia. Additionally, if anything at the home needs repair, Mel will have to pay for it. But only up to $5,000. Oksana and Mel cannot write books about the other person. The settlement states that this is the same amount of financial support that Mel Gibson gives to his seven other children from his marriage to Robyn Gibson.  Robyn received $300-$400 million in their divorce settlement in April 2011. Additionally, the couple will have joint legal and physical custody of their daughter. Before this agreement, Mel was only allowed 3 overnight visits with Lucia every 2 weeks. Oksana had previously been asking for insane amounts of money, but her demands didn't fly. The original settlement in 2010 was for $15 million, but she turned it down because she wanted more money. Mel Gibson's estimated net worth is $500 million.

Venus Williams Drops Out of US Open Due to Illness

Tennis star Venus Williams withdrew from the US Open tennis championship Wednesday, citing a recent autoimmune disease diagnosis. Williams, 31, said in a statement that she is suffering from Sjögren's Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that causes fatigue and joint pain. "I'm really disappointed to have to withdraw from this year's US Open," she said in the statement, adding that her diagnosis is "an ongoing medical condition." According to the Sjögren's Syndrome Foundation website, the disease affects some 4 million Americans, and nine out of ten patients are women. The symptoms include dry eyes and dry mouth and it may also cause dysfunction to such organs as kidneys, gastrointestinal system, blood vessels, lungs, liver, pancreas, and the central nervous system. The symptoms occur when white blood cells attack their moisture-producing glands.

Saul Hudson) in Ibiza, Spain, re-wearing her original wedding dress to re-commit to her husband of 10 years. Government sues to block AT&T, T-Mobile merger

The Justice Department took the unusual step Wednesday to try to block AT&T's $39 billion purchase of T-Mobile USA, arguing that the proposed merger would lead to higher wireless prices, less innovation and fewer choices for consumers. Now AT&T, the nation's No. 2 wireless carrier, and No. 4 T-Mobile are plotting a legal response to challenge federal regulators. In its civil antitrust lawsuit, the Justice Department said the merger would stifle competition in the wireless industry. The deal, which is still under review at the Federal Communications Commission, would catapult AT&T past Verizon Wireless to become the nation's largest wireless carrier, leaving Sprint Nextel as a distant third-place player and certain to struggle. AT&T quickly signaled that it won't abandon the transaction, leading to expectations of a fierce court battle. AT&T has several incentives to take up a legal fight with regulators. In court, the burden is on the Justice Department — not AT&T — to show that the combination would harm competition. If the deal doesn't go through, the company will be forced to pay T-Mobile a $3 billion break-up fee and give it some wireless spectrum rights.

The network and Dash issued statements asserting the exit was Dash’s decision. “I have to be back in L.A. with my children right now and the Single Ladies shooting location [in Atlanta] makes this impossible,” Dash said in a statement to GlobalGrind and verified by VH1. “I wish VH1 the best of luck with the show in maintaining the strong fan base we developed in Season 1.” VH1 added: “VH1 respects Stacey’s decision and her commitment to what she feels is best for her family. We thank her for all of her hard work in making Single Ladies a success right out of the gate, and we wish her nothing but the best in her future plans.”
