Natalie Portman 'Shocked and Disgusted' by John Galliano's Rant

Sunday's Oscar winner and the face of Miss Dior Cherie perfume Natalie Portman is refusing to associate herself in any way with suspended Dior chief designer John Galliano after allegations and a videotape have surfaced accusing him of making vile anti-Semitic comments. "I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video" Portman, 29, said in a statement from Los Angeles. "In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way." She adds, "I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful." Galliano, 50, met with police Monday as an investigation is being held into incidents that could lead to criminal prosecution of the designer. He has been accused of two separate incidents of making racist remarks against clients in a Paris café near his home. In the video, Galliano is seen and heard saying, "I love Hitler" and tells two people they "should have been gassed." It remains to be seen if Portman's comments will affect her contract with Dior.

Jets dropping Gholston, Taylor

The New York Jets are parting ways with Vernon Gholston -- the disappointing sixth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft -- in an offseason purge that will include the releases of outside linebacker Jason Taylor, right tackle Damien Woody and nose tackle Krishna Jenkins. The four moves will save the Jets between $20 million and $24 million on their salary cap, money they will need with receivers Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards, special teams ace Brad Smith and cornerback Antonio Cromartie all set to become free agents pending the lockout looming Friday. One or more of the released players could eventually be signed back, for reduced salaries, although it certainly appears as if 24-year-old Gholston has worn a Jets uniform for the last time. Taylor, 36, completed his 14th NFL season -- his first with the Jets -- and likely is headed to retirement.
