Richie Sambora Checks into Rehab
Richie Sambora is the latest star to check into rehab. He’s being treated for “exhaustion” and to regain his sobriety. ”Richie recently has been drinking too much, and wants to get his life together," a source said, adding that the band has been very supportive of the rehab decision. "Richie has had a busy year," a close friend of the musician said. "I think this was a culmination of all the things that overloaded his life and finally he realized he needed to take care of himself.” Bon Jovi is scheduled to perform this month as part of their tour and move onto Europe in June.
NFL request to freeze ruling denied
The NFL is falling behind in its court fight with the players over the future of the $9 billion business. The federal judge who lifted the lockout two days ago dealt another blow to the league late Wednesday, denying its request to put her ruling on hold pending appeals and guaranteeing more limbo for the 32 teams, thousands of players and millions of fans. U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson wrote that the NFL ''has not met its burden for a stay pending appeal, expedited or otherwise.'' She dismissed the NFL's argument that she didn't have jurisdiction and that it is facing irreparable harm because of her decision to end the 45-day lockout. ''The world of 'chaos' the NFL claims it has been thrust into — essentially the 'free-market' system this nation otherwise willfully operates under — is not compelled by this court's order,'' Nelson wrote. And yet chaos there may be, perhaps as early as Thursday, the first day of the NFL draft. James Quinn, a lawyer for the players, said free agency — perhaps the biggest question for owners and players alike — should start immediately. The two sides had 16 days of talks with a mediator earlier this year and four more ordered by Nelson with a federal magistrate. Little progress has been seen, though the two sides are scheduled to meet again May 16.Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy are Engaged

Katie Holmes 'Star' Magazine lawsuit settled: 'Drug Shocker' not so shocking anymore
Most celebs are used to slanderous and mostly untrue claims about themselves being slapped across the cover of tabloids these days. But when 'Star' Magazine suggested that Katie Holmes had a drug problem, she decided to take action. The actress sued the publication for more than $50 million in damages after their January cover read, "Katie DRUG SHOCKER!" Holmes reached a settlement with publishers American Media Inc. and even got them to say they're sorry. No small feat! Though the monetary terms of the settlement are confidential, American Media will be making a "substantial donation" on behalf of Mrs. Tom Cruise to the Dizzy Feet Foundation, a non-profit organization which improves and increases access to dance education for underprivileged children in the United States. Additionally, the company claims that it "did not intend to suggest that Ms. Holmes was a drug addict or was undergoing treatment for drug addiction." So... that's that. "I'm pleased that this lawsuit could be resolved amicably and accept American Media's apology," Holmes states. "With this dispute out of the way, I look forward to once again focusing my attention on my family and career."Brandi Suing Eddie
Eddie Cibrian's ex, Brandi Glanville, is suing Eddie because she was fighting with him on the phone when she got into a car accident. The lawsuit -- filed by the other driver -- claims Brandi ran through a stop sign near her L.A. home and slammed into the back of an SUV back in March, 2010. According to the suit ... Brandi apologized to the woman, and admitted she had been on the phone arguing with her ex-husband. The plaintiff claims she was injured and her car was totaled and she's suing Brandi for about $25,000 in damages. By the way, Brandi says she and newlywed Eddie still fight ALL the time about money.
Mark Wahlberg teaming up with Justin Bieber for movie
It isn't the unlikeliest pairing in the world. After all, Mark Wahlberg has some idea of what it's like to be a teen idol and Justin Bieber has probably seen "Boogie Nights." Or maybe "The Perfect Storm." "The Fighter?" "Yeah, Justin Bieber and I are going to do a movie together," said Wahlberg. When questioned about the veracity of that statement (we get it), the former Funky Bunch-er replied, "Yeah. We're doing it at Paramount. We pitched them the idea and, you know, we're talking about doing it." Wahlberg wasn't forthcoming with many details. Only adding that the movie might tell the story of "a reluctant mentor in an inner-city environment."
Mariska Hargitay Sues William Morris Endeavor Over 'SVU' Commissions
Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has sued her former agents at William Morris Endeavor, claiming the agency is trying to collect a commission on her earnings after she parted ways with WMA. In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in state court in New York, Hargitay claims WME wants money from Seasons 11 and 12 of SVU, even though her deal for those seasons was negotiated after she and her primary agent departed in the wake of the WMA-Endeavor merger. Hargitay, who moved from UTA to WME in 2002, says she signed a one-year contract giving the agency 10 percent of her SVU salary. That deal expired in 2004 but WME continued to represent the actress until she followed her agent Erwin More to Paradigm in 2009, according to the lawsuit. Now WME is alleged to have filed a demand for arbitration this month, claiming it is entitled to commissions on the 11th and 12th seasons of SVU, a deal that was negotiated after Hargitay ended her relationship with the agency.
Shirelles and Dionne Warwick sue new Broadway show
The producers of a new Broadway musical about the 1960s girl group The Shirelles have been hit with a lawsuit charging them of pilfering the names and likenesses of the original members. Singer Dionne Warwick, who is also portrayed in the show "Baby It's You", joined the legal action which was filed in New York Supreme Court a day before Wednesday's opening night. Three of the four women -- surviving member Beverly Lee, who owns the trademark to "The Shirelles" name and the estates of Doris Coley Jackson and Addie Harris McFadden -- filed their lawsuit on Tuesday. "Baby It's You!" is the story of Florence Greenberg, a suburban housewife from New Jersey who discovered the all-girl group and created Scepter Records. It has been running in preview at New York's Broadhurst Theater for several weeks. The Shirelles had hits in the 1960s with records like "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," "Dedicated to the One I Love" and "Soldier Boy." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Oren Warshavsky, an attorney for the four, said that like many other recording artists in the 1960s, his clients were not treated well even as they were growing in popularity. "It's unfortunate that they have to live through it again and watch their stories be told, again without their consent," he said.Sarah Palin Mocks Katie Couric Over CBS Exit
Sarah Palin is mocking Katie Couric's decision to step down as anchor of CBS Evening News. Couric announced her departure Tuesday, saying that she is looking forward to a new position that will facilitate "multidimensional storytelling." On Fox News on Tuesday, Palin shot back: "Yeah, and I hear that she wants to now engage in more 'multidimensional storytelling' versus I guess just the 'straight on, read into the, that teleprompter screen storytelling.' More power to her. I wish her well in her 'multidimensional storytelling.' " Palin has had issues with Couric ever since she conducted a series of interviews with her during the run-up to the 2008 elections. Couric caught Palin off-guard by asking a series of hard-hitting questions, including why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives Palin foreign-policy experience. When she asked Palin what newspapers and magazines she reads regularly, an uncomfortable Palin replied, "Um, all of them, any of them." Palin later told Oprah Winfrey she believed Couric intended to paint her in a negative light.Mandalay Bay to become home to Jackson attractions
Cirque du Soleil wants to recreate Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch in Sin City. The Mandalay Bay hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip plans to open a sprawling entertainment complex that includes a Jackson-themed lounge, an interactive memorabilia museum and a theater designed to replicate the iconic refuge of the deceased musical legend, Cirque du Soleil president Daniel Lamarre said Wednesday. "This place, Mandalay Bay, is going to become the home of Michael Jackson in many, many ways," he said at an announcement at the casino attended by Jackson's older brother, Jackie. John Branca, co-executor of Michael Jackson's estate, said the attraction will offer fans a permanent place to celebrate, as well as give them the opportunity to see some of the objects displayed at Neverland Ranch. "Very few fans would ever get to visit Michael's Neverland Ranch because of its remote location," he said. Plans for the Las Vegas lodestone, set to open in 2013, are part of the budding business relationship between the acrobatic troupe and the pop star's estate.'Glee' star Jane Lynch joins 'The Three Stooges' cast

ABC's soap-opera headaches don't end with the public outrage over the recent cancellations of "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." The daughters of Frank and Doris Hursley, who created daytime medical drama "General Hospital" in 1963, are suing the network, claiming that ABC stiffed them on revenues. According to plaintiffs Bridget Dobson, Deborah Hardy and Polly Keusnik -- two of whom have also written for the show -- their parents, both of whom are now deceased, struck a deal with the network to receive 10 percent of the net profits resulting from syndication on any episode produced and broadcast after January 3, 1969. The suit, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, alleges that ABC hasn't made good on the agreement, and has rejected requests to audit the network's books on the matter. The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages.
