Katie Couric Voices Regrets over CBS Evening News

She made history, but in hindsight, Katie Couric says she may have tried to do too much as the first solo female network news anchor. "I would have given people what they were used to, a traditional newscast," Couric, who is reportedly close to stepping down at CBS Evening News said. "And then as they got to know me and got more comfortable, then I would’ve started toying with the format and trying new things." In the end, she says, "I think we were overly ambitious. We probably would have been better off playing it a little safer." As for reports that she might host her own syndicated talk show in the future, Couric says if that happens she has one main goal for the program: To provide viewers with "smart conversation."

IRS is After Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne is in serious trouble with the law again. Weezy recently paid off a $1.13 million tax lien in Dade County, Fla., in November 2010, but has reportedly been hit with another IRS bill, this time for $5,610,034. This isn't the first time Uncle Sam has come knocking on his door. The IRS has been after him for years filing a lien against him in 2008, going after his One Family Foundation charity in June 2010, for the years 2004, 2005 and 2007. The new $5 mil bill includes $3,335,077.95 for revenue earned in the year 2008, and $2,258,956.04 for 2009.

'Rock of Ages' Casts Lead: Mexican Singer-Actor Diego Boneta

Mexican singer and actor Diego Boneta has nabbed the lead role in Rock of Ages, New Line and director Adam Shankman's adaptation of the Broadway musical, while Russell Brand is in final negotiations to also join the all-star ensemble. The cast so far includes Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige and Julianne Hough. Paul Giamatti is in negotiations while Amy Adams is in talks for parts as well. Ages tells the story, replete with hair-band music, of a small-town girl (Hough) who comes to Hollywood for the 1980s music scene and is nearly destroyed by it. Although she falls for a budding musician named Drew (Boneta), she also catches the eye of Stacee Jaxx (Cruise), an arrogant rocker at the height of his career, ends up as a stripper in a club run by Blige but also finds true love at the end.

Pattinson angry over 'Twilight' photo leak
Robert Pattinson is fuming after leaked photographs from "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" set emerged online. Snaps from the shoot recently surfaced on the Web, with one intimate picture showing the actor filming a love scene with co-star Kristen Stewart. Pattinson is angry about the leak and he has branded the hackers "idiots" for "maliciously" exposing the shots to fans. He says, "It's just ridiculous. I literally can't believe that it happened. It's raw footage: It's not even what people are going to see. Why do this maliciously? You're not a fan. You're just a d---. That's all there is to it."

Adam Lambert Kicked Out of Gaga's Party
Adam Lambert got himself kicked out of Lady Gaga's birthday party after he started partying a little too hard!  Lambert "showed up beyond drunk and was fist-pumping on the walls and actually punched a hole in the low ceiling. When the cake was brought in, he tried to smear it in Gaga's face. After all the shenanigans, Gaga had security remove him from the party. Adam had been invited to the party as a guest of "Scissor Sisters", who have been opening for Gaga on tour.

TV NEWS
A record 1.9 million total viewers watched the opening night of the controversial The Kennedys on the ReelzChannel Sunday. The mini-series, which was originally scrapped by the History channel, received a 2.5 gross household coverage area rating. “Viewers across America showed their ongoing fascination with the Kennedy family and, specifically, their desire to see such a star-studded cast in the highly-anticipated ‘The Kennedys’,” ReelzChannel CEO Stan E. Hubbard, said in a statement.

"Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy recently re-addressed his "F*** you, Kings of Leon" comment that prompted the band to tell him to "buy a new bra" and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl to randomly chime in with a "F*** that guy." "Don't say 'f*** you' to someone in the press," he said. Murphy goes on to explain that he wasn't just wrong in his choice of words. "I didn't speak with as much clarity as I would have liked," he says. "Who am I to say 'F*** you?' That's not what I meant. I completely understand when artists don't want a show or another artist to interpret their songs. In fact, I respect it. It's their personal work and I'd feel the same way. We get turned down all the time and I've don't fight it or even go back after a rejection."

KISS frontman, Gene Simmons, will appear on "Castle" set to air in early May.  Castle and Beckett follow a lead straight to their victim's Beverly Hills home, which just so happens to be owned by the rock superstar. Turns out, said victim had been living in the pads guest house prior to the incident. After a quick chat with Simmons in his fictional Beverly Hills backyard, the crimefighting pair sets off to find their perp.

Flight of the Conchords star Bret McKenzie has joined Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. McKenzie will play an elf in the New Line film.

Sean Hayes, best known for his work on TV’s Will & Grace, has been cast as Larry in 20th Century Fox’s Three Stooges movie. Hayes joins Will Sasso in the comedy being directed by the Farrelly brothers. Still up for grabs is the part of Moe. The movie is not a biopic but will be divided into roughly half-hour vignettes. When the project was set up at MGM, the Farrellys had Sean Penn as Larry (that same incarnation had Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio del Toro as Moe). Stooges marks a rare movie appearance for Hayes, with an appearance in 2007’s The Bucket List as his last onscreen work.

If a pseudo-confident Susan Lucci isn't enough to calm your nerves over the rumored threat of cancellation for "All My Children," this should help put your mind at ease. Former "AMC" head writer Lorrain Broderick is replacing current scribes David Kreizman and Donna Swajewski and returning to her position as point person on the show. Broderick is said to have signed a multi-year contract with ABC. An "AMC" staffer since 1979, Broderick left the series for some years, only returning in 2009 as an associate head writer.

Brooke Shields will join the cast of The Addams Family as Morticia on June 28 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Current star Bebe Neuwirth will play her final performance on June 26th.

In news that will leave your jaw planted firmly on the floor, Roger Howarth — aka the original Todd Manning — is heading back to One Life to Live. Best known for originating the Emmy-winning role of Llanview’s resident rapist-turned-doting dad back in 1992, Howarth will resurface on the ABC soap in May. Details on Howarth’s comeback are under wraps, but the actor says, “I am looking forward to returning to OLTL. We are going to have a lot of fun telling this story, and I am excited to see how it will unfold.”
