"Mad Men" actress pregnant, father not revealed

Actress January Jones, who plays sullen housewife Betty Draper on the Emmy-award winning television drama "Mad Men," is about to become a single mother. Jones, 33, is expecting her first baby in the fall. The father's identity was not disclosed. She broke up with "Saturday Night" live actor Jason Sudeikis in January. Jones has had some practice being pregnant. Her "Mad Men" character delivered her third child during season 3 in 2009. But her real-life pregnancy means viewers might see even less of Jones when the show returns early next year. She had a low profile last season in the wake of Betty's divorce from advertising executive Don Draper, played by series star Jon Hamm. Jones will next be seen in X-Men: First Class.

Broadcasters around the world breathed a sigh of relief as a dazzling display of pomp and ceremony in a uniquely British tradition as the wedding of the Century went off without a hitch. The BBC feed alone was broadcast to 180 countries, in what is thought to be the biggest television event in broadcast history. Networks from CCTV in China, NDTV in India, France 24, Al Jazeera English tore up their news schedules to carry the ceremony in real time, in addition to all the main U.S. networks.

Meredith Vieira, who has been rumored to be considering leaving her gig as co-host on the morning show, is indeed moving on, a network source says. "Meredith has decided she simply does not want to continue with the grind of a daily morning news show," says the source. "This isn't about leaving to tend to her family – it's about being done with the phase of her career that requires this sort of a daily, on-air commitment. This didn't come out of the blue and is something she's talked about for some time." Longtime Today show news anchor Ann Curry will reportedly take over as co-host once Vieira leaves.

Tens of thousands of Oprah Winfrey fans will descend on Chicago in May for what Harpo Productions is calling "Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular." "Two and a Half Men" creator Chuck Lorre has reportedly come up with a way to continue the CBS comedy for a ninth season without the involvement of Charlie Sheen. Lorre's plan would refocus the show around Jon Cryer's character. Sheen was fired from the show in March. He's suing Lorre and "Men" producer Warner Bros. TV for breach of contract, but he's also said numerous times in the past couple months that he'd be open to the idea of returning to the series. Lorre and Warner Bros., however, are reportedly not interested in having him return to the series.

Richie Sambora Checks into Rehab
Richie Sambora is the latest star to check into rehab. He’s being treated for “exhaustion” and to regain his sobriety. ”Richie recently has been drinking too much, and wants to get his life together," a source said, adding that the band has been very supportive of the rehab decision. "Richie has had a busy year," a close friend of the musician said. "I think this was a culmination of all the things that overloaded his life and finally he realized he needed to take care of himself.” Bon Jovi is scheduled to perform this month as part of their tour and move onto Europe in June.

NFL request to freeze ruling denied

The NFL is falling behind in its court fight with the players over the future of the $9 billion business. The federal judge who lifted the lockout two days ago dealt another blow to the league late Wednesday, denying its request to put her ruling on hold pending appeals and guaranteeing more limbo for the 32 teams, thousands of players and millions of fans. U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson wrote that the NFL ''has not met its burden for a stay pending appeal, expedited or otherwise.'' She dismissed the NFL's argument that she didn't have jurisdiction and that it is facing irreparable harm because of her decision to end the 45-day lockout. ''The world of 'chaos' the NFL claims it has been thrust into — essentially the 'free-market' system this nation otherwise willfully operates under — is not compelled by this court's order,'' Nelson wrote. And yet chaos there may be, perhaps as early as Thursday, the first day of the NFL draft. James Quinn, a lawyer for the players, said free agency — perhaps the biggest question for owners and players alike — should start immediately. The two sides had 16 days of talks with a mediator earlier this year and four more ordered by Nelson with a federal magistrate. Little progress has been seen, though the two sides are scheduled to meet again May 16.

Katie Holmes 'Star' Magazine lawsuit settled: 'Drug Shocker' not so shocking anymore

Most celebs are used to slanderous and mostly untrue claims about themselves being slapped across the cover of tabloids these days. But when 'Star' Magazine suggested that Katie Holmes had a drug problem, she decided to take action. The actress sued the publication for more than $50 million in damages after their January cover read, "Katie DRUG SHOCKER!" Holmes reached a settlement with publishers American Media Inc. and even got them to say they're sorry. No small feat! Though the monetary terms of the settlement are confidential, American Media will be making a "substantial donation" on behalf of Mrs. Tom Cruise to the Dizzy Feet Foundation, a non-profit organization which improves and increases access to dance education for underprivileged children in the United States. Additionally, the company claims that it "did not intend to suggest that Ms. Holmes was a drug addict or was undergoing treatment for drug addiction." So... that's that. "I'm pleased that this lawsuit could be resolved amicably and accept American Media's apology," Holmes states. "With this dispute out of the way, I look forward to once again focusing my attention on my family and career."

According to the suit ... Brandi apologized to the woman, and admitted she had been on the phone arguing with her ex-husband. The plaintiff claims she was injured and her car was totaled and she's suing Brandi for about $25,000 in damages. By the way, Brandi says she and newlywed Eddie still fight ALL the time about money.

Mark Wahlberg teaming up with Justin Bieber for movie
It isn't the unlikeliest pairing in the world. After all, Mark Wahlberg has some idea of what it's like to be a teen idol and Justin Bieber has probably seen "Boogie Nights." Or maybe "The Perfect Storm." "The Fighter?" "Yeah, Justin Bieber and I are going to do a movie together," said Wahlberg. When questioned about the veracity of that statement (we get it), the former Funky Bunch-er replied, "Yeah. We're doing it at Paramount. We pitched them the idea and, you know, we're talking about doing it." Wahlberg wasn't forthcoming with many details. Only adding that the movie might tell the story of "a reluctant mentor in an inner-city environment."

Mariska Hargitay Sues William Morris Endeavor Over 'SVU' Commissions
Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has sued her former agents at William Morris Endeavor, claiming the agency is trying to collect a commission on her earnings after she parted ways with WMA. In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in state court in New York, Hargitay claims WME wants money from Seasons 11 and 12 of SVU, even though her deal for those seasons was negotiated after she and her primary agent departed in the wake of the WMA-Endeavor merger. Hargitay, who moved from UTA to WME in 2002, says she signed a one-year contract giving the agency 10 percent of her SVU salary. That deal expired in 2004 but WME continued to represent the actress until she followed her agent Erwin More to Paradigm in 2009, according to the lawsuit. Now WME is alleged to have filed a demand for arbitration this month, claiming it is entitled to commissions on the 11th and 12th seasons of SVU, a deal that was negotiated after Hargitay ended her relationship with the agency.

Shirelles and Dionne Warwick sue new Broadway show

The producers of a new Broadway musical about the 1960s girl group The Shirelles have been hit with a lawsuit charging them of pilfering the names and likenesses of the original members. Singer Dionne Warwick, who is also portrayed in the show "Baby It's You", joined the legal action which was filed in New York Supreme Court a day before Wednesday's opening night. Three of the four women -- surviving member Beverly Lee, who owns the trademark to "The Shirelles" name and the estates of Doris Coley Jackson and Addie Harris McFadden -- filed their lawsuit on Tuesday. "Baby It's You!" is the story of Florence Greenberg, a suburban housewife from New Jersey who discovered the all-girl group and created Scepter Records. It has been running in preview at New York's Broadhurst Theater for several weeks. The Shirelles had hits in the 1960s with records like "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," "Dedicated to the One I Love" and "Soldier Boy." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Oren Warshavsky, an attorney for the four, said that like many other recording artists in the 1960s, his clients were not treated well even as they were growing in popularity. "It's unfortunate that they have to live through it again and watch their stories be told, again without their consent," he said.

Sarah Palin Mocks Katie Couric Over CBS Exit

Sarah Palin is mocking Katie Couric's decision to step down as anchor of CBS Evening News. Couric announced her departure Tuesday, saying that she is looking forward to a new position that will facilitate "multidimensional storytelling." On Fox News on Tuesday, Palin shot back: "Yeah, and I hear that she wants to now engage in more 'multidimensional storytelling' versus I guess just the 'straight on, read into the, that teleprompter screen storytelling.' More power to her. I wish her well in her 'multidimensional storytelling.' " Palin has had issues with Couric ever since she conducted a series of interviews with her during the run-up to the 2008 elections. Couric caught Palin off-guard by asking a series of hard-hitting questions, including why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives Palin foreign-policy experience. When she asked Palin what newspapers and magazines she reads regularly, an uncomfortable Palin replied, "Um, all of them, any of them." Palin later told Oprah Winfrey she believed Couric intended to paint her in a negative light.

Mandalay Bay to become home to Jackson attractions
Cirque du Soleil wants to recreate Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch in Sin City. The Mandalay Bay hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip plans to open a sprawling entertainment complex that includes a Jackson-themed lounge, an interactive memorabilia museum and a theater designed to replicate the iconic refuge of the deceased musical legend, Cirque du Soleil president Daniel Lamarre said Wednesday. "This place, Mandalay Bay, is going to become the home of Michael Jackson in many, many ways," he said at an announcement at the casino attended by Jackson's older brother, Jackie. John Branca, co-executor of Michael Jackson's estate, said the attraction will offer fans a permanent place to celebrate, as well as give them the opportunity to see some of the objects displayed at Neverland Ranch. "Very few fans would ever get to visit Michael's Neverland Ranch because of its remote location," he said. Plans for the Las Vegas lodestone, set to open in 2013, are part of the budding business relationship between the acrobatic troupe and the pop star's estate.

ABC's soap-opera headaches don't end with the public outrage over the recent cancellations of "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." The daughters of Frank and Doris Hursley, who created daytime medical drama "General Hospital" in 1963, are suing the network, claiming that ABC stiffed them on revenues. According to plaintiffs Bridget Dobson, Deborah Hardy and Polly Keusnik -- two of whom have also written for the show -- their parents, both of whom are now deceased, struck a deal with the network to receive 10 percent of the net profits resulting from syndication on any episode produced and broadcast after January 3, 1969.  The suit, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, alleges that ABC hasn't made good on the agreement, and has rejected requests to audit the network's books on the matter. The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages.

Police detained a man who tried to grab the boyfriend of Paris Hilton Wednesday as the couple arrived at a courthouse to testify against a suspect in an attempted break-in at her home last year. An Associated Press photographer and reporters interviewing the couple saw the man appear to get a hand on the neck of Cy Waits before being seized by a bodyguard and taken away. Lindsay Lohan still doing Gotti movie, says film's spokesman
Producers behind Lindsay Lohan's new movie say the actress is still with the project, despite a looming 120-day jail sentence. The "Mean Girls" star recently signed a two-picture agreement with Fiore Films, with her first role starring alongside John Travolta in upcoming mobster movie "Gotti: Three Generations."  He says, "She is still in the film, provided she can fulfill her obligations. She has been cast in this role. She still has the role, and we're very excited about her being in the movie. We're not going to speculate on 'What if this happens? What if that happens?' We're dealing with a few unknowns. Once we start understanding exactly what the situation is, that's when we can start making some decisions." Lohan's role as the wife of John Gotti Jr. was thrown into doubt last week when she was sentenced to 120 days behind bars for violating her probation stemming from a 2007 DUI charge. She is currently free on bail as she appeals the sentence, which was handed to her after she was accused of stealing a necklace from a California jewelry store.

Marshall's wife called 911
Details surrounding the stabbing of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall remained foggy Monday despite the release of the 911 call made the night of the incident. It was hoped the Broward County Sheriff's Office's release of the call would shed more light after Marshall's wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, allegedly stabbed him in the stomach with a kitchen knife. The caller, believed to be Nogami-Marshall, says, "Please come, it's an emergency." When the dispatcher responds, "Where?" the caller repeats herself, saying, "Please come, it's an emergency" before hanging up. The dispatcher's attempts to call back went unanswered. The conversation did not indicate whether the call took place after Marshall was stabbed or before the incident. The only certainty was that the call was made at 4:41pm local time Friday. Nogami-Marshall was arrested at 7:40 p.m.  Marshall was released from an intensive care unit Saturday after undergoing stomach surgery. The two-time Pro Bowl selection initially claimed he was hit with a vase before his wife reportedly confessed to the stabbing while telling police she acted in self-defense. The arresting officer wrote in his report that "both the victim and defendant provided scant information regarding the incident itself." Nogami-Marshall was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. She was released from a Broward County jail Saturday afternoon on a $7,500 bond.

Judge lifts NFL lockout; owners appeal

A federal judge in Minnesota granted players an injunction Monday to lift the NFL lockout, and NFL owners have already appealed the decision.  U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson ruled only on the injunction, not the entire case of Brady v. NFL. If Nelson or the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in St. Louis doesn't grant the owners a stay, the 2011 season could start in theory. "We will promptly seek a stay from Judge Nelson pending an expedited appeal to the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. We believe that federal law bars injunctions in labor disputes," the NFL said in a statement. "We are confident that the Eighth Circuit will agree. But we also believe that this dispute will inevitably end with a collective bargaining agreement, which would be in the best interests of players, clubs and fans. We can reach a fair agreement only if we continue negotiations toward that goal." Late Monday, it was announced that the NFL appealed the decision to the Eighth Circuit. If there is no stay of Nelson's decision, free agency and other offseason business could begin. The rules under which free agency would be conducted aren't known. "This is a good ruling, for sure, but I never want to celebrate until it's actually over," NFLPA Players Association executive George Atallah said on Twitter. The owners locked out the players last month after the NFLPA decertified as a union after more than two weeks of federal mediation did not produce an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement.

The baby daddy of Sarah Palin's grandson, Tripp is penning a tell-all book that will reveal his side of his contentious relationship with the former Vice Presidential candidate and her brood. Having gained the support of noted intellectual giant Gary Busey, Donald Trump has now deemed Robert De Niro less than bright for for dissing his plan to run for president. The dispute between the acting giant and the curiously coiffed real-estate mogul began over the weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival, when De Niro dismissed Trump's potential run for the White House as "crazy." Miami Dolphin Marshall Stabbed
Miami Dolphins wide receiver, Brandon Marshall, was taken to the intensive care unit in a South Florida hospital Friday and had to have surgery for a stomach wound. Marshall's wife Michi Marshall admitted to stabbing Brandon in the abdomen, claiming self-defense.  Michi is in jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  This is not the first incident of domestic violence for Brandon Marshall.  When he was playing for the Denver Broncos police were called three times in three months in 2007 for incidents between him and his then girlfriend, Rasheedah Watley.  Watley was hospitalized for a cut on her thigh an injuries sustained after being punched in the face. But while considered one of the NFL's top wideouts, Marshall's NFL career has been marred by off-field incidents. He was arrested on multiple occasions and involved in other domestic-related incidents between 2006 and 2009. While most charges were later dismissed, dropped or reduced, Marshall served a one-game suspension in 2008. The length of the suspension was shortened from three games by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. This isn't the first time Marshall suffered a serious injury during the offseason. Marshall badly lacerated his arm during the 2008 offseason when he smashed it through a television at his house. Marshall initially said he slipped on a food wrapper but then admitted he also was involved in "horseplay" after news surfaced on NFL Network of an alleged wrestling match involving family members.
