Sherwood Schwartz, Creator of 'Gilligan's Island' and 'The Brady Bunch,' Dies

Television producer Sherwood Schwartz died Tuesday in Los Angeles. He was 94 and best known for creating Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch. The writer-producer wrote the theme songs to both programs. Schwartz told the Archive of American Television in 1997 that he'd like to be remembered "as a man who tried to explain in his own way that people have to learn to get along with each other. I did it with comedy because that's what I'm familiar with, and I think it's more acceptable to tell it in comedy form." Schwartz is survived by his wife Mildred; children Donald, Lloyd, Ross and Hope; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

R. Kelly’s Olympia Fields mansion in foreclosure

The Olympia Fields mansion of R&B artist R. Kelly is in foreclosure, with J.P. Morgan Chase Bank alleging that the Grammy winner owes it more than $2.9 million. The 11,140-square-foot home at 1 Maros Lane — the street so named for the prior owner, who owned several south suburban McDonald’s restaurants — boasts six full bathrooms, seven half-baths and two fireplaces, according to the Cook County assessor’s office. There’s also a four-car garage, and the house sits behind an imposing iron fence in the tony Maynegaite Woods subdivision. In March 1999, J.P. Morgan gave Robert S. Kelly a $3.5 million mortgage, and in a court filing last month the bank said it’s still owed more than $2.9 million. Through a firm in Oak Brook, Kelly last year paid more than $170,000 in property taxes on the house but owes more than $100,000 in back taxes, according to the county treasurer’s office. A source said Kelly hadn’t made a mortgage payment on the home in “a significant time.” The home’s value has plunged as the real estate market has soured. In 2009, the county assessor said the house was worth $5.16 million but that fell to $3.8 million last year.

Sooners LB's death an accident

Oklahoma linebacker Austin Box had five prescription painkillers and an anti-anxiety drug in his system when he died, according to the state medical examiner's office. The death of the 22-year-old Box two months ago was ruled accidental. In the report, the agency said the combination of drugs likely caused pulmonary edema, or fluid in the lungs, and aspiration pneumonia, which is an inflammation of the lungs caused by inhaling foreign substances. A friend found Box unresponsive in the friend's El Reno home and called authorities the morning of May 19. The friend told a dispatcher Box wasn't breathing, that Box had been taking pain pills, and later told a police officer ''he believed he had overdosed.'' An autopsy found the painkillers oxymorphone, morphine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone and oxycodone in Box's system, along with the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam. The report noted Box's significant medical conditions included cardiomegaly, or an enlarged heart, and a chronic pain history. He redshirted with the Sooners in 2007 and played in 10 games as a freshman in 2008, starting four at middle linebacker. He suffered a knee injury late in the season and missed the Big 12 Conference championship game. He played in 10 games in 2009, starting a game each at outside linebacker and inside linebacker. But, as his family noted, he had a long history of injuries during the past seven years, many of which required surgery. The most recent came last August, when his parents said he had a disc rupture in his back and he lost the feeling in his left foot.''We were certain his career was over,'' they said. ''As always though, he battled back when he saw the team needed him.'' In their statement, Box's parents said ''it is with much sadness; we look back and see that recently Austin had turned to other methods of managing his pain.'' They said they're hopeful people using such a combination of painkillers ''will see this tragic accident as a message and think about the consequences.''

'Frightened' Halle Berry granted restraining order

Halle Berry obtained a restraining order against a man who was taken into custody outside her home hours earlier, the third such arrest in as many days. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carol Goodson ordered Richard Franco, 27, to stay 100 yards (90 meters) away from Berry and her young daughter if he is released from jail. It was Franco's third arrest for trespassing at the Oscar-winning actress' home in three days. "This person has jeopardized not only my personal safety, but also the safety and well-being of my family," Berry wrote in a sworn declaration. "This person has invaded and trampled upon the most fundamental sense of security I have, and I am extremely frightened of him and what he might do to me or those I love." Berry said Franco had come within a foot of her on Sunday, when he apparently followed her to her kitchen door. The actress wrote she was able to lock the door and call police before Franco got into her home. Franco was also spotted by Berry and her manager at the actress' home on Saturday, according to court files. Off-duty police officers hired by Berry to patrol her property saw Franco scale a security gate at her home late Monday. Berry wrote she was home alone with her 3-year-old daughter when Franco was arrested that night. He remained jailed in lieu of $150,000 bail. A hearing on whether to extend the order for three years was scheduled for Aug. 1. Berry won the best actress Academy Award in 2001 for her role in "Monster's Ball."

Halle Berry's Stalker Is a Dangerous Criminal

Richard Franco was apprehended after scaling Halle’s wall for the third time. Turns out he has a long list of criminal offenses, including: felony car theft, felony vandalism, drug use offenses and several juvenile offenses. He’s also had to attend court-ordered anger management classes. LAPD Threat Management handles a lot of serious celebrity stalker cases, and they’ve been deeply involved. Law enforcement sources say they’re concerned about Franco.

She followed him, and they continued arguing. When the cops and paramedics arrived, Nicki told authorities he hit her in her lower lip. Gavin Rossdale's Daughter to Pose for Playboy

Playboy is busy collecting rockers' daughters. First, Hugh Hefner's mag featured Elizabeth Jagger, daughter of Mick Jagger, topless in the June issue. Now, Daisy Lowe, who is Gavin Rossdale's daughter, will strip down for the September issue of Playboy, according to Spinner. The 22-year-old has been modeling for seven years, but so far, she's been doing it with her clothes on, appearing in W and Italian Vogue, as well as in Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs campaigns. Lowe has also walked the runway for fashion designers. Although Lowe is Gavin Rossdale's daughter, he didn't actually know that until 2004, when a paternity test revealed it. Rossdale was previously Lowe's godfather. Lowe's mom is Pearl Lowe, a musician and fashion designer, and until it was revealed that Rossdale was Daisy's dad, it was presumed that her father was Bronner Lowe, Pearl Lowe's ex-husband.

Kobe destroys rapper Bow Wow in one-on-one

Should the NBA lockout persist for a while, Kobe Bryant should just spend every day collecting checks from rapper Bow Wow. It won't require a lot of effort. He's guaranteed to make money. And he doesn't put his body at risk whatsoever. For reasons unknown to anyone who's remotely familiar with basketball, Bow Wow challenged Bryant at his basketball camp to a game of one-on-one, wagering the rights to his next single. Naturally, the Black Mamba didn't shy away from the challenge ... err, the chance to steal candy from a baby, and humiliated him in the process. But Bow Wow wouldn't let it go. He then challenged Bryant to a rematch worth $1,000 where he could only shoot jumpers. Bryant walked away $1,000 richer with an easy way to gradually build more strength in his knee. Clearly, Bow Wow doesn't subscribe to the theories of Gambling 101. One of those includes not making bets you don't have any chance of actually winning.

Beatles Reunion?

Paul McCartney has hinted that he and Ringo Starr may put together a new version of The Beatles for the London Olympic Games opening ceremony. Organisers want McCartney and Ringo on stage and to appear with other big British acts.  Some are even suggesting that George Harrison and John Lennon could be represented by their sons.

Stacks on Stacks on Stacks

Floyd Mayweather Jr. literally has money to burn -- and proved it by setting a $100 bill on FIRE inside an Atlanta nightclub this weekend. Floyd was partying with Lil Kim and Gucci Mane at the Velvet Room and Floyd was rolling with STACKS of hundred dollar bills.  Did you know that it was illegal to burn money?  If the Feds decide to pursue an investigation, Floyd could face up to six months behind bars, and, ironically, a $100 fine

NY judge dismisses charges against Foxy Brown

A judge dropped charges that rapper Foxy Brown violated a court order by mooning her neighbor after the woman told prosecutors she would not testify at the trial. Assistant District Attorney Robert Isdith said he had tried to meet with the neighbor, Irene Raymond, in the weeks before the trial and didn't get anywhere. When he finally got in touch with her, she said she didn't want to pursue the case, he said. "While the district attorney's office has no doubt the defendant committed this crime, we have no other choice but to dismiss this case," Isdith said. Brown said "I was falsely arrested twice, slandered and defamed," she said outside court, as she gave a thumbs-up and smiled for cameras. She described Raymond as jealous, and someone with a "borderline obsession," ''someone who wants to be you or have your life ... that I worked really hard for," she said. Brown also said outside court that she's headed directly to the recording studio now that she's free of the case, and said she's not planning to return to criminal court any time soon.

TV NEWS

ABC and the producers behind "Desperate Housewives" could decide in a few weeks if the show's upcoming eighth season will be its last. Creator, Marc Cherry and executive producer Bob Daily are both signed to remain with the series through the season, as well as a potential ninth season. But rumblings have started that the producers and network may decide to go out with a bang this year rather than stretch things. Nothing's been decided yet. It's all going to depend on how the rating go this season.  If the ratings continue to fall, it could be the end of the show.

Bravo's "The Millionaire Matchmaker" is heading back to Los Angeles for its fifth season, set to debut August 18th.  This season, Tori Spelling and Jenny McCarthy will help dish out the tough love for Stanger's well-heeled roster of clients.

The sixth season of "Celebrity Rehab" on VH1 will be the last for a while. A source connected to the show says: "The decision was made to put the show on hiatus because Dr. Drew Pinsky is just too busy with other and new projects to continue to do the show." It's being said that Dr. Drew would love to revisit doing the show again in the future when he has the time and that he really enjoyed doing the show, even though it could be "very emotionally grueling at times." Cast members of the current season include Michael Lohan, Amy Fisher, and Bai Ling.
