Redmond O'Neal Admits Narcotics Use in Rehab

Redmond O'Neal, son of Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett, was taken into custody today and had his probation revoked and after admitting to the use of narcotics while in court-ordered rehab. LA Superior Court Judge Keith I. Schwartz took the action after receiving a letter from O'Neal's treatment facility alerting him of the violation. In August, O'Neal pleaded no contest to drug and weapons charges and was sentenced to one year in a live-in rehabilitation program. O'Neal now faces a new sentencing on October 7 and could be given a term in state prison of up to six years. "This morning Redmond admitted to a violation of using methamphetamines while on probation," says O'Neal's co-attorney Mike Brewer. "There is no guarantee what Redmond's new sentence will be." Judge Schwartz has asked O'Neal's rehabilitation facility and his defense counsel to address concerns and questions regarding the 26-year-old's treatment plan. He also asked about security at the facility, saying these factors will be taken into consideration upon sentencing.
