Sammy Hagar: Aerosmith wanted me to replace Steven Tyler
Former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar says he was offered the chance to replace Steven Tyler as the frontman of Aerosmith but that he turned down the opportunity because it would have been a difficult transition. Hagar says he has been approached over the years to join a string of top bands. "I was asked at one time to be in Motley Crue," he says. "I was asked at one time to be in Pantera by their managers. I was asked to be in Velvet Revolver when Scott Weiland quit." Hagar says he was considered as a possible replacement for Tyler when Tyler fell out with his Aerosmith bandmates in late 2009. "I was asked to be in Aerosmith, and I said no," he says. "Certain bands and certain frontman singers are more difficult to replace than others. Steven Tyler and that band have stayed together for 40 years, and you don't want to walk into something like that."

'Hurt Locker' team going forward with film on bin Laden hunt
The filmmakers behind the war-on-terror drama "The Hurt Locker" are moving forward with an action thriller about the hunt for Osama bin Laden. Director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal have had the bin Laden project in the works, and now that the al-Qaida leader has been killed, a person close to the filmmakers said Monday that the film is more relevant than ever. The as-yet-untitled film will center on the special operations forces in pursuit of bin Laden, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to talk about the project's status. U.S. forces have hunted bin Laden since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks nearly 10 years ago. A team of Navy SEALs shot and killed bin Laden early Monday at a compound in Pakistan.

The Pacific-10 has reached a deal to license most of its big football and basketball games to Fox and ESPN, and agreement that will net the conference approximately $3 billion over 12 years. The Pac-10's move to launch its own network mimics the Big Ten Conference's 2007 decision to launch its own network -- a decision that led to a 10-year, $1 billion deal with ESPN. However, unlike the Big Ten, Pac-10 will retain complete ownership of its network. (The Big Ten's network, by contrast, is 49-percent owned by Fox Cable Networks.) Beginning on July 1, the Pac-10 will be expanding the number of teams in the conference as well as its wallet, with Colorado and Utah coming on board to make the conference the Pac-12.

Operation was designed to kill bin Laden
The operation that killed Osama bin Laden was designed to do just that, not to take him alive, a U.S. government official told CNN Monday. DNA matching is under way on samples from the body of the slain terrorist leader, the official said. There are photographs of the body with a gunshot wound to the side of the head that shows an individual who is not unrecognizable as bin Laden, the official said. No decision has yet been made on whether to release the photographs and if so, when and how. Four others in the compound also were killed. One of them was bin Laden's adult son, and another was a woman being used as a shield by a male combatant, the officials said. Bin Laden's body was later buried at sea, an official said. Many Muslims adhere to the belief that bodies should be buried within one day. The official did not release additional details about the burial, but said it was handled in keeping with Muslim customs. The death of the founder and leader of al Qaeda comes almost 10 years after the September 11, 2001, attacks that killed about 3,000 people.

Guy Who Live-Tweeted U.S. Raid on Bin Laden by Accident Inundated With Media Requests
Sohaib Athar -- the Abbottabad IT consultant that tweeted the U.S. raid on Osama Bin Laden by accident -- has been inundated with media requests since news of the Al-Qaeda leader's death broke. And now he just wants to sleep. "Bin Laden is dead," Athar wrote on Twitter on Monday. "I didn’t kill him. Please let me sleep now." On Sunday afternoon (or early Monday local time), Athar tweeted as U.S. forces were carrying out their mission:
"Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event)."

Then:
"A huge window shaking bang here in Abbottabad Cantt. I hope it’s not the start of something nasty."

"The few people online at this time of the night are saying one of the copters was not Pakistani."

"People are saying it was not a technical fault and it was shot down. I heard it CIRCLE 3-4 times above, sounded purposeful."

Only Obama's announcement did Athar realize what he had been tweeting -- and anticipated the deluge. "Uh oh, now I'm the guy who liveblogged the Osama raid without knowing it," he wrote as word of his accidental scoop spread. Athar told the BBC he's since been hit with a barrage of media requests from around the world. So how was Athar the only apparent Abbottabad resident tweeting about the operation? "Not many people use Twitter here," Athar said. "Everyone uses Facebook."

The wrestler turned actor will test out his musical skills as he portrays one of the genre's most successful black stars. Pride has sold more than 70 million records throughout his long-running career and remains the only African-American singer to be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. Donald Trump Fires Back at David Letterman
Donald Trump shot back at David Letterman after the late night host publicly accused Trump of making racist comments toward President Obama during an on-air chat with Dr. Phil. In a letter to Letterman, Trump wrote that he was cancelling his May 18 appearance on Late Night, among other things.  Trump's letter to Letterman not only served as a cancellation notification, but as a tongue-lashing. "I was disappointed to hear the statements you made about me last night on your show that I was a 'racist,'" Trump wrote. "In actuality, nothing could be further from the truth and there is nobody who is less of a racist than Donald Trump. Based upon your statements, and despite the fact that we have always done so well together, especially in your ratings, I am canceling my May 18th appearance on your show." And if that wasn't enough, Trump also wrote that he wouldn't be doing a Top Ten list that was in the works. "Please inform your staff that I will likewise not do the 'top ten' list that they had been trying to set up," he says in the letter. Last week, Letterman said about Trump: "If he comes back on this show, and I am not sure we want him back on this show under these circumstances, he ought to be prepared to apologize just for that kind of behavior."

'Hangover' producers sued by Tyson's tattoo artist
Mike Tyson's tattoo artist has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against "The Hangover: Part II" producers for allegedly using his design without consent. In the movie's preview, actor Ed Helms is shown sporting a face tattoo like the design inked on the boxer's left cheek and temple. S. Victor Whitmill, the artist who created, inked and copyrighted Tyson's iconic tattoo, is suing the film's studio, Warner Brothers, for allegedly using the image in the upcoming film without permission. Whitmill is seeking an injunction to halt the impending release of "The Hangover: Part II," as well as banning the image of Helms from use in advertising materials and trailers. He also wants unspecified damages.

TV NEWS
This Sunday, FOX planned to air a highly anticipated crossover of their animated comedies "Family Guy," "American Dad," and "The Cleveland Show." The event, dubbed "Animation Domination" has been widely promoted, but has been canceled. In the crossover, the characters of all three shows were impacted by a hurricane. FOX decided that the content wasn't appropriate given the deadly storms that have led to lost lives and homes in the southern U.S. this week. More than 300 people have been confirmed dead due to tornado touchdowns.

Nearly 23 million Americans rose early on Friday to watch Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot. The Nielsen Co. said the 22.76 million viewers were spread out over 11 different networks. The company's measurement was for the period of 6 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. EDT, when the ceremony was taking place. Websites reported high traffic, too. ABCNews.com said it's online traffic Friday was its highest since the 2008 presidential election. And, E! Online said its 23.6 million page views on Friday was its most ever. The wedding was telecast on ABC, CBS, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, BBC America, CNN, E! Entertainment, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and TLC.

Across the pond, however, Charles and Diana still rule. Nearly 27 million viewers in the UK watched Kate trade vows with William on BBC, ITV or Sky News, compared to the 28.4 million who tuned in for the royal wedding 30 years ago. Friday’s ceremony also ranked behind UK coverage of Princess Diana’s 1997 funeral.

Television's "Judge Judy" is keeping her hand firmly on the gavel through 2015. Judy Sheindlin signed a new multiyear deal to stay with the long-running syndicated program that last season ranked No. 1 in daytime, CBS Television Distribution said. "I am thrilled with the opportunity to continue this exciting second career," Sheindlin, 68, said in a statement. A former judge in New York, the tart-tongued Sheindlin presides over small-claims cases on her program that's in its 15th season.

NBC is upping the star power on "The Voice" by adding singers Reba McEntire, Monica and Sia and music producer Adam Blackstone as new advisers. They join Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Aguilera will team up with Sia, Levine with Maroon 5 music director Blackstone, Green with Monica, and Shelton with McEntire, who goes by just Reba these days.

"Glee" producer Ryan Murphy has finally found the handsome male lead for "American Horror Story," his much buzzed about pilot for FX. Dylan McDermott is joining the cast that already includes film star Jessica Lange, and "Friday Night Lights" actress Connie Britton.

Looks like Glenn Beck has hopped on the right-wing hate bandwagon that's been rolling all over "Glee" lately. Beck trained his laser-like focus on the musical series on his show this week, deeming it "a horror show" and "a nightmare" because "everyone is sleeping with everyone else, it's all about self-gratification."
