tony lip dies
Veteran actor Tony Lip has died at the age of 82. The actor, who was best known for his portrayal of mob kingpin Carmine Lupertazzi in hit TV show "The Sopranos," passed away in hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey on Friday.  The exact cause of his death is unknown, but family members told local newspaper The Record of Woodland Park that Lip's health had been failing in recent years. Lip went on to star in the films "Goodfellas," "Raging Bull" and "Donnie Brasco." In 2005, he co-wrote and released a cookbook titled "Shut Up and Eat!," in which he and Italian-American actors James Gandolfini, Danny Aiello and Chazz Palminteri shared their families' favourite Italian recipes. His funeral will take place on Tuesday in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.

Vittorio Missoni Missing After Plane Disappearance
A plane carrying Vittorio Missoni, commercial and marketing director for the fashion house his parents founded, is missing after disappearing Friday in Venezuela. The Britten-Norman BN-2 – a small twin-engine airplane – took off from Los Roques headed to Maiquetia, but went off the radar after 10 nautical miles and never arrived at its destination, Venezuela's minister for justice and home affairs confirms. Aboard were Missoni, 58, his wife Maurizia Castiglioni, another couple the pair had been vacationing with, and two crew members. "The Missoni family has been informed by the Venezuelan Consulate that Vittorio Missoni and his wife are missing, but we don't know any more," company spokeswoman Maddalena Aspes says. Along with his siblings Luca and Angela, Missoni owns the company – known for its colorful patterned knitwear – founded in 1953 by parents Ottavio and Rosita. As rescue teams continued to search for the plane through the weekend, sister Angela told the Italian daily La Repubblica, "Our hope is that he is still alive. We want to hope because for us it is important."
Actor Thomas Gibson, star of CBS show "Criminal Minds," was arrested early Sunday morning in downtown Los Angeles on suspicion of DUI. Gibson was arrested after he drove through a section of street that was blockaded for a half marathon. He was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI at 1:37 a.m. Gibson was booked at Los Angeles Central Jail with bail set at $15,000. The 50-year-old, who also starred in "Dharma & Greg" and "Chicago Hope," has no other known previous arrests.

'Texas Chainsaw' massacres competition with $23 million
Lionsgate’s Saw franchise may have gone the way of the dodo, but this weekend the studio re-birthed another horror franchise centered on a limb-mangling blade. Texas Chainsaw 3D, a sequel/reboot of the 1974 horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, bowed with a bloody good $23.0 million, making 2013 the second year in a row that a horror film has kicked off the year in first place. The Devil Inside debuted with $33.7 million last January.
1. Texas Chainsaw 3D – $23.0 million
2. Django Unchained – $20.8 million
3. The Hobbit – $17.5 million
4. Les Miserables – $16.1 million
5. Parental Guidance – $10.1 million

It's official – Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy's marriage is over. Having announced a separation over the holidays, the reality star began the divorce process by filing earlier this week in New York. "It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating," Frankel, 42, had said in a statement Dec. 23. "This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family." The split comes after months of rumors that the pair – who married in 2010 and are parents to daughter Bryn, 2½ – were on the rocks.

TV NEWS
The Office will close its doors this May with a special one-hour farewell, but it’ll likely do so without Steve Carell’s original boss, Michael Scott. “I’m hopeful, but I don’t think [Steve] will be back,” NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt told reporters Sunday the the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena. “He left in the way that he wanted that character to leave.” “There’s maybe a little hail mary pass on a cameo,” he added, “but I think the decision is that he [doesn't want to compromise] his [original] exit.”

Bates Motel will soon be open for business. A&E announced Friday that its buzzy Psycho prequel series will premiere Monday, March 18 at 10/9c.

Like its predecessor "Friday Night Lights," NBC's "Parenthood" is always an on-the-bubble show -- each spring, we wait with bated breath to find out whether it will be renewed for another year. After middling Season 3 ratings, Season 4 was only picked up for an abbreviated 15 episodes. However, with fresh new storylines, particularly Kristina's breast cancer and a young veteran's return home, "Parenthood's" audience has been growing. At Sunday's NBC Television Critics Association press day, NBC President of Entertainment Jennifer Salke said that no decision has been made yet about a potential Season 5, but the network is happy with the upward trend of Season 4.

What was initially billed as a medical leave now appears to be a permanent one. Blue Bloods actress Jennifer Esposito — who departed from the CBS drama in October amid controversy — is not expected to reprise her role as Det. Jackie Curatola this season. Or next season.  As reported back in October, CBS says the actress requested “a very limited part-time schedule” that the demands of the role could not accommodate, so they put her (and her character) on a leave of absence. Esposito, however, claimed the network knew her request was the result of her battle with Celiac Disease and at the advice of her doctor, and claimed she was being kept from working elsewhere during her “unpaid leave.” Blue Bloods meanwhile is rotating in new characters played by Megan Ketch and Megan Goode to sub for her Detective Jackie Curatola.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will appear in 30 Rock‘s Jan. 31 series finale. She joins fellow guest stars Julianne Moore (Game Change) and Ice T (Law & Order: SVU).

Not only will Once Upon a Time‘s Neal Cassidy resurface in a few weeks, but he’ll apparently stick around for a while. In a Sunday afternoon Twitter Q&A session with his fans, Michael Raymond-James — who made his Once debut in the Season 2 premiere, then was revealed to be Henry’s father in the episode “Tallahassee” — confirmed that Neal will, as suspected, be seen again in Episode 14, “Manhattan.”

It appears the sands will continue to flow through the hourglass for the foreseeable future. Addressing the fate of its only daytime soap, NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt expressed confidence that Days of Our Lives would remain on the air beyond its current contract cycle, which expires in September. “I think Days is going to stick around,” Greenblatt told reporters Sunday at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena. “I don’t know that I’m at liberty to say that officially yet, but it’s not going anywhere.”
