No player elected to Hall of Fame
Steroid-tainted stars Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Sammy Sosa were denied entry to baseball's Hall of Fame, with voters failing to elect any candidates for only the second time in four decades. A candidate must receive 75 percent of the vote from the voting members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America in order to be inducted. In totals announced Wednesday by the Hall and the BBWAA, Bonds, baseball’s only seven-time Most Valuable Player, received 36.2 percent of the vote. Clemens, the only seven-time Cy Young Award winner got 37.6 percent; Sammy Sosa received just 12.5 percent. They were appearing on the ballot for the first time and have up to 14 more years to make it to Cooperstown. Bonds is the sport's season and career home run leader. Clemens is third in career strikeouts and ninth in wins. ''It is unimaginable that the best player to ever play the game would not be a unanimous first-ballot selection,'' said Jeff Borris of the Beverly Hills Sports Council, Bonds' longtime agent. Craig Biggio, 20th on the career list with 3,060 hits, topped the 37 candidates with 68.2 percent of the 569 ballots, 39 shy of the 75 percent needed. The voters also shunned first-time candidates Mike Piazza (57.8 percent) and Curt Schilling (38.8 percent). Jack Morris led holdovers with 67.7 percent. He will make his final ballot appearance next year, when fellow pitchers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine along with slugger Frank Thomas are eligible for the first time. More than 40 living Hall of Famers are expected to attend the induction ceremony, but the attendance at Cooperstown, NY, could fall below 10,000, the approximate number who attended the 1996 ceremony. It certainly won’t approach the record 75,000 who saw Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr. inducted in 2007.Oprah Winfrey to interview Lance Armstrong for 'Oprah's Next Chapter'
Lance Armstrong has agreed to a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey where he will address allegations that he used performance-enhancing drugs during his cycling career. It's the first interview with Armstrong since his athletic career crumbled under the weight of a massive report by USADA detailing allegations of drug use by the famous cyclist and teammates on his U.S. Postal Service teams. It's unclear if the interview at Armstrong's home in Austin, Texas, has already been taped. Nicole Nichols, a spokeswoman for Oprah Winfrey Network & Harpo Studios, declined comment. The show will air on Jan. 17 in the United States.Beyonce & Kelly Clarkson To Perform At Obama Inauguration
Beyonce will sing the national anthem at President Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony.
The committee planning the Jan. 21 event also announced Wednesday that Kelly Clarkson will perform “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” and James Taylor will sing “America the Beautiful” at the swearing-in ceremony on the Capitol’s west front. Richard Blanco, the son of Cuban exiles, is the 2013 inaugural poet, joining the ranks of Maya Angelou and Robert Frost to have served in that capacity. Blanco’s works explore his family’s exile from their native country and “the intersection of his cultural identities as a Cuban-American gay man,” the inaugural planners announced.
Katt Williams Arrested Outside Los Angeles Home After Skipping Court Date
It's back to the slammer for renegade comedian Katt Williams. Williams was arrested outside his Los Angeles home on Tuesday night after failing to appear in court in Sacramento. A felony arrest warrant was issued for Williams after the comedian skipped the Monday hearing, stemming from a Nov. 25 incident in which Williams took California police on a wild chase through the streets of Sacramento while riding a three-wheeled motorcycle. Williams was arrested at his L.A. residence on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. after LAPD officers spotted him outside the house. Williams knew he was a wanted man and was fully cooperative. He was being held on $105,000 bail. The "Scary Movie 5" actor faces charges of evading police and reckless driving, E! News reported, from the November incident. The Los Angeles Times previously reported that Williams had been riding his motorcycle on sidewalks in Sacramento, almost hitting pedestrians. Police tried to get him to stop, but Williams ran multiple red lights and evaded them. The officers decided against chasing him due to public safety concerns. Earlier that same November day, Williams allegedly assaulted a Target employee. He is due in court in Yolo County on Wednesday for this incident, according to CBS Sacramento. This is the second arrest for the 39-year-old comedian in recent weeks. On Dec. 28, Williams was arrested for child endangerment. His four children were taken away after cops raided his home and found numerous guns and illegal drugs.

Brandy, Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole and Maxwell are among the entertainers set to perform at the 2013 Essence Festival, which returns to New Orleans for four days in July. The 19th annual celebration of black music and culture will be held July 4-7 at the Superdome and the nearby convention center, where speakers like Rev. Al Sharpton and Rep. John Lewis, a congressman and civil rights leader, will give lectures. Other performers include New Edition, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane and Charlie Wilson, while smaller stages will feature Anthony David, Bridget Kelly, Les Nubians Mint Condition and the new jack swing stalwarts, Blackstreet.Maxwell's performance will come a year after the neo-soul star had to cancel a comeback tour due to vocal hemorrhaging. Last year's event featured performances by Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Mary J. Blige as well as D'Angelo, Dru Hill, Charlie Wilson and Melanie Fiona.Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez Split For Good
After a slew of recent rocky relationship bumps, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have reportedly called it quits — for good. Justin, 18, and Selena, 20, had their New Year’s vacation in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico end abruptly after a massive blowout. “They had another huge fight, and Selena won’t forgive him,” a source claimed. The pair reportedly rang in the New Year separately in Los Angeles, after Selena flew home on December 30. “He’s been really down about the breakup,” the source added. Another source went on to claim, “Selena is done with him.”
Kings may move to Seattle
People with knowledge of the situation said Wednesday that investor Chris Hansen has contacted the Maloof family about buying the Sacramento Kings. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because no deal has been reached. One person says the Kings could sell for more than $500 million. The Kings' future in Sacramento has been uncertain because the Maloofs and the city haven't been able to come up with a long-term arena solution. Hansen reached agreement with local governments in Seattle last October on plans to build a $490 million arena near the city's other stadiums: CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field. As part of the agreement, no construction will begin until all environmental reviews are completed and a team has been secured. Hansen's group is expected to pitch in $290 million in private investment toward the arena, along with helping to pay for transportation improvements in the area around the stadiums. The plans also call for the arena to be able to handle a future NHL franchise. The remaining $200 million in public financing would be paid back with rent money and admissions taxes from the arena, and if that money falls short, Hansen would be responsible for making up the rest. Other investors in the proposed arena include Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer and two members of the Nordstrom department store family. The NBA had no comment. Representatives for Hansen did not return messages seeking comment. Any franchise looking to relocate must submit their plans to the NBA by March 1 and the move must be approved by the league.
TV NEWS
The executive producer of the show says the 24-year-old Grammy-winning pop star is set to make her first post-baby appearance at Sunday's ceremony, where she is nominated for original song for the James Bond theme "Skyfall." Adele welcomed her first child, with boyfriend Simon Konecki, in October. The singer has kept a low profile since announcing her pregnancy in June after sweeping the Grammy Awards last February with six wins. Her single, "Skyfall," will compete at the Golden Globes with Taylor Swift's song from "The Hunger Games," Jon Bon Jovi's number from "Stand Up Guys," Keith Urban's track from "Act of Valor," and "Suddenly" from "Les Miserables."
Three years after an extortion scandal that led him to bare his infidelities, David Letterman said he sees a psychiatrist once a week to try to be the person that he believed he was. The late-night talk show host gave an extraordinary interview to Oprah Winfrey in which he talked about his feud with her and Jay Leno, and about his efforts to make amends for his affairs with "Late Show" staff members that became public in 2009. The interview will air Sunday January 20th on Winfrey's OWN network. It was recorded in November.
Justin Bieber will soon return to the “Saturday Night Live” stage. The pop superstar, who served as musical guest on the late night comedy back in 2010 (and has since also appeared in a few sketches and a digital short), will pull double duty – hosting and performing – on February 9.
"General Hospital" is reuniting Luke and Laura! Okay, we're getting ahead of ourselves. All we know so far is that Laura is returning to Port Charles in February and Genie Francis, who was most recently on "The Young and the Restless," will of course resume the role. Word is "General Hospital" alum Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco) has also been approached for a 50th Anniversary return, but there's no deal in sight
