Roger Ebert Dies; Wife Chaz Says He Smiled Before Passing  Roger Ebert is resting in peace. "We were getting ready to go home today for hospice care, when he looked at us, smiled, and passed away," Roger's wife of 20 years, Chaz, said in a statement, shortly after news broke of his death. "No struggle, no pain, just a quiet, dignified transition." But the loss of the iconic movie critic, 70, has understandably left Chaz "devastated," as she refers to him as "my husband, my friend, my confidante and oh-so-brilliant partner." "He fought a courageous fight. I've lost the love of my life and the world has lost a visionary and a creative and generous spirit who touched so many people all over the world," she said. "We had a lovely, lovely life together, more beautiful and epic than a movie. It had its highs and the lows, but was always experienced with good humor, grace and a deep abiding love for each other." Survived by his stepchildren, Sonia and Jay, and grandkids, Raven, Emil, Mark and Joseph. "But he was also getting tired of his fight with cancer, and said if this takes him, he has lived a great and full life." A day before his passing, the same day of 46th anniversary of reviewing movies, Roger announced his cancer had returned. "We are touched by all the kindness and the outpouring of love we've received," Chaz said. "And I want to echo what Roger said in his last blog, thank you for going on this journey with us." Roger endured severe bouts with cancer over the last 11 years. Despite the tumors that ultimately changed his face and robbed him permanently of his ability to speak, the popular film critic never dwelled on his bleak status, thanks to his wife. "When I was essentially helpless, she was my tireless advocate," he saud in 2010. "She's my angel." President Barack Obama issued a statement expressing his condolences and highlighting the critic's career: "For a generation of Americans -- and especially Chicagoans -- Roger was the movies. When he didn't like a film, he was honest; when he did, he was effusive -- capturing the unique power of the movies to take us somewhere magical. ... The movies won't be the same without Roger." Hired at the Sun-Times in 1967, Ebert reviewed movies at the newspaper for 46 years and established himself as one of the nation's most well-known film critics. Ebert famously teamed with fellow critic Gene Siskel of the Chicago Tribune for "Siskel and Ebert At The Movies," a 1980s television show in which they reviewed new film releases. The two often squared off over what deserved a "thumbs up" or a "thumbs down" and their stamp of approval or disapproval made its way to movie posters and video boxes. Siskel died in 1999 at age 53. The author of numerous film screenplays and books, Ebert became the first film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize in 1975. He was also the first critic with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. He was diagnosed in 2002 with papillary thyroid cancer, and in 2003 was operated on for cancer in his salivary gland. Further surgeries to remove more cancerous tissue required removal of a section of jawbone, and he continued to suffer complications over the next few years. After fracturing his hip last December, he underwent further surgery. Just two days ago he posted online that he was taking a "leave of presence," saying that he was not going away but that he must slow down. He wrote of several projects he had in the works and his hopes of pursuing other types of writing.

Lourdes Leon, Timothee Chalamet Madonna’s daughter is reportedly dating. Lourdes Leon has been linked romantically to former “Homeland” star Timothee Chalamet. “It’s common knowledge at the school that the pair are dating,” a source said. The two both go to the La Guardia High School of Music & Art & Performing Arts. Timothee played Finn Walden, the son of Vice President William Walden (Jamey Sheidan), on the Claire Danes and Damien Lewis-fronted Showtime show. After causing a woman’s death in Season 2, while speeding around town with Sgt. Brody’s daughter, Dana Brody (Morgan Saylor), Finn died in an explosion in the final episode of the season.

Heidi Klum surprised people took photos instead of helping save son

While supermodel Heidi Klum may be a hero after saving her son and two nannies from a strong ocean undertow during a Hawaiian vacation, witnesses who saw the ordeal and didn't lend a hand are a different story. After Klum's harrowing rescue, photos of the entire incident appeared online, showing the "Project Runway" host pulling her son and nannies from the ocean. Whoever took photos decided that was the priority, rather than helping out. Klum says the pictures make the situation look worse than it actually was, but Klum and her family are surprised they "were being photographed and no one would come help." As far as being a hero, Heidi says, "I did what any mother would do." She also has a warning, "Never underestimate the power of the ocean."
Beyonce and Jay-Z caused a big stir in Havana as they marked their fifth wedding anniversary Thursday. R&B's power couple was mobbed by dozens of well-wishers at the renowned restaurant La Guarida on Wednesday night, and police had to step in to keep the crowds at bay. La Guarida staffers showed The Associated Press pictures of the two dining on typical Cuban creole favorites -- fish, chicken, black beans and rice -- accompanied by their mothers. The privately run restaurant is famous as the filming location for the hit movie "Strawberry and Chocolate," and is a mainstay on Havana's tourist circuit. Waitress Silvia Fernandez said Beyonce toured the eatery and looked at photos of past celebrity clients: Jack Nicholson, Jodie Foster, Danny Glover, Will Smith, James Belushi and more. Their bodyguards' presence outside set the gritty, bustling neighborhood of Center Havana abuzz, and a crowd gathered downstairs shouting Beyonce's name until she went to a balcony and waved. Police arrived and made sure she was able to exit without incident.

Jada Pinkett Smith addresses Will Smith 'open marriage' rumors

Jada Pinkett Smith sat down with "HuffPost Live's" Marc Lamont Hill to promote her documentary, "Free Angela and All Political Prisoners." When Hill asked about the rumors that plague Smith's marriage to "Men In Black 3" star Will Smith, Jada had a lot to say about "the most persistent" of the rumors: that she and Will have an open marriage. "I think people get that idea because Will and I are very relaxed with one another and I think because, from how I've answered questions," says Jada. "I've always told Will, you can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be OK. Because at the end of the day Will is his own man. I'm here as his partner, but he is his own man. He has to decide who he wants to be, and that's not for me to do for him."

TV NEWS
The Governor will definitely be back in a big way next season on “The Walking Dead.” AMC confirmed that British actor David Morrissey, who plays the sociopathic leader (who is likely licking his wounds following his disastrous attempt at taking down the prison group on Sunday’s Season 3 finale of “The Walking Dead”), is now a series regular on the show. Also promoted to series regulars for Season 4 are Chad Coleman, who plays the reasonable Tyreese, and Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays his sister, Sasha. Both Sasha and Tyreese returned to the prison at the end of Season 3 and began to settle in. And, Emily Kinney, who has been playing Beth Greene since Season 2, and became more prominent over Season 3 – showing off her real life singing skills, and – in character – took care of Rick’s daughter Judith, has also been promoted. “The Walking Dead” is expected to return to AMC in October.

Netflix announced that the upcoming season of Arrested Development will debut on May 26 at 12:01 am PT, which marks the cult comedy’s return to TV after a three-season run on Fox from 2003 to 2006. Similar to its strategy with original series House of Cards, the streaming service will release all 15 new episodes of Arrested simultaneously.

Repeats of The Young and the Restless are moving from SOAPnet to TV Guide Network this summer. Episodes of the CBS daytime staple will re-air exclusively on the cabler at 7 pm.

At least one of the major storyline development from Girls‘ season 2 finale is set for a major shakeup. Christopher Abbott, who plays Marnie’s long-suffering, on-and-off boyfriend Charlie, will not be returning for the third season of the show, according to HBO.  It was only in the recent second season finale that we finally saw Marnie (Allison Williams) and newly rich Charlie officially declare that they were very much back on and ready to settle down. In a statement, Abbott’s rep said that the actor is “grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd [Apatow], and the entire Girls cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show.” There are rumors he left abruptly because him and series creator/actress Lena Dunham were continously bumping heads.

Nick at Nite has given a 13-episode series order to Instant Mom, a comedy pilot starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict. The show will air during NickMom, a new primetime TV block.
Blue Bloods Cast Kamar de los Reyes Kamar de los Reyes is getting ready to walk the beat with Blue Bloods. Reyes — whose most recent TV credits include The Mentalist, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and CSI: Miami — will appear in two May episodes of the CBS drama, playing Santana, a deadly Latino gang leader who rules over the inner-city projects with his drug and vice trade. Unfortunately, Danny and all of the NYPD become targets when they interfere with the kingpin’s operation. Blue Bloods’ Season 3, meanwhile, wraps its run on Friday, May 10.

'Pain & Gain': Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson's true story murder comedy angers survivors

"This is a true story," says the joke-heavy trailer for Paramount's action comedy "Pain & Gain," whose cast list includes Rebel Wilson, Ken Jeong, and Rob Corddry. But the families of the Sun Gym Gang's real-life torture and murder victims aren't laughing. In the film directed by Michael Bay, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson portray body builders turned vigilante muscle men, who kidnap a bad guy and make off with his fortune. "Victor Kershaw is a criminal prick who deserves bad stuff to happen to him," says Wahlberg's character, Daniel Lugo, in the trailer. Kershaw is supposed to be the fictional version of Marc Schiller, a Miami businessman who was kidnapped tortured, and nearly murdered by the Sun Gym Gang. Schiller was kept in a warehouse for a month and tortured with sleep deprivation, water boarding, lighters and a Taser until he signed millions of dollars and his home over to Lugo and company, then made his wife and children move to Columbia. Schiller, who was 34-years-old at the time of the crimes, calls himself a married homebody and says the character depicted in the film is nothing like him. Lugo and his pals moved into Schiller's home and attempted to kill him by strapping him into a vehicle, setting it ablaze, and crashing it into a pole. Schiller staggered out of the vehicle, so the men ran him over. When he awoke in a hospital, no on believed his story so he hired an investigator to help him bring the men to justice. Meanwhile, Lugo and his Gang attempted to make phone sex entrepreneur Frank Griga their next victim, but he fought back. The men beat him to death, murdered his girlfriend, Krisztina Furton, and dismembered their bodies in the same warehouse where they held Schiller. The Sun Gym goons then scattered the victims' body parts around South Florida. "You are talking about real people. And in this particular case, especially when you're talking about the murder victims, these were innocent victims," says retired Miami-Dade Police Sgt. Felix Jimenez, who helped investigate the crimes in the 1990s. A relative of Griga, Zsuzsanna Griga, calls the lighthearted depiction of the Sun Gym Gang "ridiculous." She tells the Miami Herald, "I don't want the American public to be sympathetic to the killers." Lugo and another member of the Sun Gym Gang, Noel Doorbal (portrayed by Anthony Mackie) were eventually sentenced to death for the murders. Other gang members received varying sentences for their roles in the crimes. Paramount has declined to comment on the controversy.
