 The Temptations singer Otis "Damon" Harris has died at the age of 62. The singer passed away at the Joseph Richey Hospice in Baltimore Monday after a 14-year battle with prostate cancer. Harris joined the hit R&B group in 1971, aged 21, following the departure of original member Eddie Kendricks, and sang lead vocals on some of the band's biggest tracks, including "Superstar (Remember How You Got Where You Are)," "Take a Look Around," "Masterpiece" and "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone," which won The Temptations three Grammy Awards. He left the band in 1975, and went on to release several disco songs with his group Impact before retiring from music. After he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the 1990s, he set up the The Damon Harris Cancer Foundation in 2001 to raise awareness of the disease among African-American men.

 

'Identity Thief' steals the No. 1 spot from 'Snitch' with $14.1 million

The biggest hit of 2013, Universal’s $35 million comedy Identity Thief, returned to the top spot at the box office in its third weekend. The Melissa McCarthy/Jason Bateman vehicle dipped 41 percent to $14.1 million, lifting its total to a robust $93.7 million. By this time next week, Identity Thief will have swiped over $100 million domestically, which bodes very well for Melissa McCarthy’s upcoming Sandra Bullock collaboration The Heat, due out June 28. Snitch‘s debut can’t hold a candle to Johnson’s recent efforts in ensemble sequels like Fast Five ($86.2 million opening) and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island ($27.3 million opening), but it opened much better than his last effort as a leading action star, Faster, which started with $8.5 million in 2010.

 Christina Applegate tied the knot on Saturday with longtime boyfriend Martyn LeNoble, the father of her 2-year-old daughter Sadie, "surrounded by family in a private ceremony at their home in Los Angeles," her rep confirmed. Applegate, 41, and LeNoble, 43, a founding member of the band Porno for Pyros, have been together since 2008. They got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2010. This the second marriage for both. Applegate – an Emmy winner best known for her work on Married … with Children and recently Up All Night – was married to actor, writer and director Johnathon Schaech for six years before their divorce in 2007.

Jimmie Johnson wins Daytona 500

Danica Patrick led laps, two favorites crashed early and another crash marred the final lap. Yep, that’s Daytona. Jimmie Johnson emerged from it all as the winner Sunday in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Daytona 500, a year after completing just one lap. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, Brad Keselowski and Ryan Newman rounded out top five at Daytona International Speedway.  It comes a year after Johnson completed only one lap in the race because of a wreck that also collected Patrick, and just three months after Johnson lost his bid for a sixth Sprint Cup title to go two years without a championship after winning five straight. Although he didn't think he needed to send a message to his competitors — ''I don't think we went anywhere; anybody in the garage area, they're wise to all that,'' Johnson said — the win showed the No. 48 team is tired of coming up short after all those years of dominance. ''Definitely a great start for the team. When we were sitting discussing things before the season started, we felt good about the 500,'' Johnson said, ''but we're really excited for everything after the 500. I think it's going to be a very strong year for us.'' Patrick is hoping for her own success after a history-making race. The first woman to win the pole, Patrick also became the first woman to lead the race. She ran inside the top 10 almost the entire race, kept pace with the field and never panicked on the track.

Suge Knight is a wanted man again

Embattled rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight is a wanted man again after he failed to show up in court on Thursday. Two warrants for Knight's arrest have been issued in California after he missed a scheduled appearance at the Los Angeles County Superior Court.  A spokesperson for the court saysthe hearing was in relation to two cases from 2011 and 2012. A judge issued one bench warrant for $5,000 and another for $30,000, giving police the authority to arrest Knight on sight.

Quvenzhane' Wallis Cast as Annie

Overbrook Entertainment, Marcy Media, director Will Gluck and Sony Pictures Entertainment have cast Academy Award nominee Quvenzhané Wallis, the star of Beasts of the Southern Wild, in the title role of Annie. Annie will be released during the winter holiday season in 2014. The film is being directed by Gluck and produced by James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Will Smith through Overbrook Entertainment, and by Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, Jay Brown, and Tyran "Ty Ty" Smith through Marcy Media

Rio Sequel

Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Jemaine Clement, will.i.am, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Rodrigo Santoro, Bebel Gilberto, and Jake T. Austin are all set to return for the sequel to the 2011 animated hit "Rio" at 20th Century Fox Animation. Joining them this time are Andy Garcia, Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth, Rita Moreno, Amandla Stenberg, Rachel Crow, Pierce Gagnon, and Natalie Morales. The story has Blu, Jewel and their three kids living the perfect domesticated life in Rio. When Jewel decides the kids need to learn to live like real birds, she insists the family venture into the Amazon.
