HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!
Olympic and Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius was charged with murder Thursday after his girlfriend was shot dead at his South African home. South African Police spokeswoman Denise Beukes said that Pistorius, 26, and the victim were the only people present when the shooting took place. The woman had been shot at least twice, police said. Pistorius will appear for a court hearing on Friday at 9am local time, the South African prosecutor’s office confirmed. Numerous media outlets reported that the sprinter -- who is nicknamed "Blade Runner" because he races wearing carbon fiber prosthetic blades -- may have mistaken the woman for an intruder. Beukes said there were no signs of forced entry to the home and said that police would oppose any application Pistorius might make to be released on bail. Beukes said there had been reports about previous problems at Pistorius' home which were "allegations of a domestic nature." When a reporter asked if she meant domestic violence, she nodded and said "yes". "There are witnesses and we have interviewed them," she added. "We're talking about neighbors and people who heard things earlier in the evening and when the shooting took place." Sarit Tomlinson, who is Steenkamp's publicist, told Britains' Sky News that the the pair had been together for a couple months. "She was a rising star ... a very bright young girl," Tomlinson said. She noted that "no one knows what happened" but said "we are in communication with the people on the scene." Pistorius was born without a fibula in both legs and battled for years to be allowed to compete against able-bodied athletes. He was the first double amputee to run in the Olympics. He qualified for the 400-meter semi-finals and 4 x 400-meter final at the London 2012 Summer Games.
Kate Middleton may be mother to the future King or Queen of England, but that can’t protect her from tabloid attention, much to the frustration of the royal family. Italian magazine Chi published two photographs of the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge in a bikini on Wednesday, inciting protest and disapproval from the palace. "We are disappointed that photographs of the duke and duchess on a private holiday look likely to be published overseas. This is a clear breach of the couple's right to privacy," a spokeswoman from St. James Palace said in an official statement on Tuesday, when news of the photographs hit the Internet. The photographs show the Duchess, with her naturally curly hair, sporting a tiny baby bump in a blue bikini, walking along the beach with William in the Caribbean island of Mustique. Chi is the same magazine that published 18 photographs of a topless Kate Middleton in September. When French magazine Closer published the photographs, the Duke and Duchess took legal action, barring their publication.

Mazel tov, Steve Martin! After Page Six reported (via sources) that the 67-year-old actor, author and musician recently became a first-time dad with wife Anne Stringfield, his rep confirmed the happy news. "We can confirm that Steve Martin and his wife are new parents and recently welcomed a child," the rep said in a statement. According to the Post, the "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" star and Stringfield, 41, were recently spotted near their Los Angeles home with their newborn baby -- whose gender and name have yet to be revealed. Says an insider to Page Six: "They've had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows. ... Steve's very private." Actor, comedian, novelist and musician Martin divorced first wife, actress Victoria Tennant, in 1994 after eight years of marriage. He quietly wed Stringer -- a writer and former New Yorker editor -- in July 2007 at his Los Angeles home in a surprise ceremony officiated by former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey. "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels was best man, and other celeb guests included Tom Hanks, Carl Reiner and Eugene Levy.
DMX arrested for driving without a license
Rapper DMX has been arrested in northwestern South Carolina for driving without a license. Authorities say the 42-year-old, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested at 1 a.m. Wednesday after an officer saw him at a gas station in Greer. Simmons already faced several charges of driving without a license, so deputies say an officer pulled him over after watching Simmons leave a gas station, get into a car and drive away. Simmons was released after paying a fine. It isn’t clear if he has an attorney. Simmons was arrested in a Phoenix suburb in 2011 after a trooper clocked him driving at 102 mph. He had recently finished a stint in prison on probation revocation for failing to submit to drug testing and driving without a license.Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in middle of airport security drama
A New York City airport security guard is under investigation after allegedly giving Kanye West and Kim Kardashian special treatment. West and his pregnant reality star girlfriend had just landed at the John F. Kennedy International Airport on a flight from Brazil on Tuesday when they were whisked away by an airline greeter. The employee reportedly let the couple bypass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint to get to another gate quicker, but the stars were later yanked off their connecting flight due to the safety breach and re-screened. And now the agent is being investigated by the TSA over the alleged violation. A representative says "An airline employee escorted the two travellers through a non-public area in order to provide expedited access to their domestic flight. In doing so, the airline employee violated security protocols by permitting the travelers to by-pass the TSA security checkpoint. "TSA officials learned of the violation and conducted a private screening of the two passengers in the area of the jetway. The passengers were cleared to board their flight, which departed after a delay of approximately 50 minutes. TSA is actively investigating the incident." An American Airlines rep says the company is taking responsibility for the incident. "This was a lapse in judgment by one of our employees," the rep said. AA adds, "We're working closely with the TSA and speaking to the individuals involved to better understand what happened."
Katherine Webb, girlfriend of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, made headlines when she was spotted by ESPN’s Brent Musberger at the National Championship game earlier this year, and now she’s being featured in the pages of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. “It’s so surreal, just to be here in this moment. I’m living out my dream,” Katherine said at New York City’s Crimson, which hosted the kickoff party for the issue. “I’m just taking it day by day and hopefully I’ll have the time to soak it all [up] eventually. But everything’s happened so fast in my life and I couldn’t be more blessed.” Beyond Sports Illustrated, Katherine is also a part of the cast of ABC’s reality show, “Splash,” which features celebrities competing in the sport of diving. “I never thought I’d do something like that, but at the same time, I had said before that I would probably move back home to Alabama and be with my family and A.J., but at the same time, I realized that I needed to make a living for myself as well as give back to my family and so I’m taking advantage of the opportunities that have been given to me,” Katherine said of joining the show’s cast. “I thought it would be such a fun idea, crazy, to learn how to dive from a high dive.” “Splash” premieres March 19 at 8 ET/PT on ABC.
