'Boondock Saints' producer Chris Brinker dies suddenly from aortic aneurysm

Boondock Saints producer Christopher Brinker tragically passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of Friday morning. The 42-year-old producer was rushed to a Marina Del Rey hospital late Thursday night after experiencing a sharp pain in his chest and then later transferred to Kaiser’s Los Angeles Medical Center where his 4 a.m. surgery was unable to fix an aortic aneurysm he’d suffered. “He went for surgery at 4 a.m. this morning and they were unable to fix the extensive damage he suffered from having an aortic aneurysm.
Two months after she entered the world, Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady’s daughter Vivian Lake has finally made her debut. On Friday morning, the Brazilian supermodel posted photos on her Facebook page, writing, "Love is everything!!! Happy friday, much love to all."

Pope Benedict XVI to step aside on Feb. 28
Pope Benedict XVI announced Monday he will step aside as leader of the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics on Feb. 28, saying he no longer has the strength to carry out his duties. Speaking in Latin, the 85-year-old announced his decision during an address at the "Concistory for the canonization of the martyrs of Otranto", a small event held early in the morning. The decision makes him the first pope to resign since the Middle Ages. His statement was posted on the Vatican Radio website. Carrying out the duties of being pope required "both strength of mind and body," it said. "After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry," the pontiff's statement said. The choice was a "decision of great importance" for the church, the statement added. German news agency dpa quoted the pontiff's brother, Georg Ratzinger, as saying his brother was increasingly struggling to walk and had been contemplating stepping aside for several months. "His age is weighing on him," he reportedly added. There are several papal contenders in the wings, but no obvious front-runner. His tough stance on theological issues had earned him the nickname "God's rottweiler." He was the oldest pope elected in nearly 300 years. The last pope to step aside was Gregory XII in 1415, who did so in order to end the Great Western Schism. Greg Burke, senior communications adviser to the Holy See, confirmed the pope will step down on February 28 at 8 p.m. local time. The move sets the stage for the Vatican to hold a conclave to elect a new pope by mid-March, since the traditional mourning time that would follow the death of a pope doesn't have to be observed.

12-Year-Old Charged in Ashton Kutcher ‘Swatting’ Incident

The 12-year-old boy who was arrested in December for making prank “swatting” calls on Ashton Kutcher's house and at least one other location last October was charged on several counts on Thursday, among them two felony counts of making false bomb threats and computer intrusion, the L.A. District Attorney announced. “Swatting” is the unfortunate crime trend of people calling the police to report crimes occurring at a celebrity’s home when no such incident was actually taking place, in order to drive a police S.W.A.T. team to the house. Such a prank costs valuable public taxpayer resources. The juvenile’s name was withheld due to his age. He’s due for arraignment on Friday at Eastlake Juvenile Court.  The incident involving Kutcher’s house in Hollywood took place on October 3, 2012, and involved a false report that armed men were inside. The boy was also charged with regards to a call made one week later at a Wells Fargo Bank on Wilshire. There was no indication from the D.A.'s office that the boy would be charged in conjunction to a prank call reportedly made on the home of Justin Bieber. The "swatting" trend continued in January, however, with prank calls made on the homes of the Kardashians, Tom Cruise and Chris Brown. No arrests have been made yet in conjunction with those incidents. The Beverly Hills Police Department said last month that they believed it was a case of copycat crimes. Another interesting point made by the D.A. on Thursday was that the LAPD has been investigating the crime spree in conjunction with the FBI. In other words, there could still yet be more news on this disconcerting trend.
Kate Upton made such a splash last year on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, the magazine has apparently asked her back for a second round. But this time, she’s not wearing a bikini top! Instead, the curvy 20-year-old is oddly “bundled up” in a white parka, which of course is paired with white bikini bottoms in the purported cover photo, which leaked on Friday … three days before it was to be officially unveiled. But Upton fans shouldn’t worry: the jacket is unzipped, therefore her cleavage is still on full display. Also strange about the cover shot? Upton is set against a snowy Antarctic backdrop – with the cover line “Kate Upton Goes Polar Bare” – instead of the usual beach scene. The Florida native is the ninth model to grace the SI cover twice. Only four others, including Kathy Ireland, have been on it three times. The top honor goes to Elle Mcpherson, who had five covers, including the best-seller from 1989.

Amanda Bynes calls Jay-Z 'ugly face' on Twitter
Another day, another bit of Amanda Bynes-related weirdness. Bynes seems to be in a downward spiral that could rival Lindsay Lohan's on the ridiculous level. From piercing her face, to a DUI arrest, to locking herself in the bathroom of a cupcake shop, Amanda just can't seem to right herself. One place she should probably avoid for a while is Twitter. In the past she's gone so far as to ask for President Barack Obama's help on the site, to get her out of a DUI charge. Surprisingly, the president did not grant her a pardon. Now her Twitter use is turning a bit negative, as she shifts her aim to rapper Jay-Z. Tweeting a photo of Jay wearing large eyeglasses, Bynes added the caption "Ugly face." That's not very nice. It seems Amanda realized that quickly, deleting the tweet. Ironically, she later tweeted, "What you focus on is what you are."

TV NEWS
NBC has pulled the plug on medical drama Do No Harm. Sure that might seem like it happened really fast. The series just premiered last Thursday. But the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde-themed medical drama was the lowest-rated in-season broadcast scripted series debut in modern history. Last night’s second episode (which the writers ironically titled “Don’t Answer the Phone”) declined even further, down 22 percent in the demo to a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.2 million viewers. It didn’t take a brain surgeon — especially one with an evil alter-ego — to figure out this title wasn’t going to stay on the air.
Do No Harm will be replaced by encore broadcasts of Law & Order: SVU for the next two weeks.

Kim Raver has scored the female lead in CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles spin-off.  The Grey’s Anatomy and 24 actress will play Special Agent Paris, the athletic, smart, witty and bold leader of the Red team. Paris has a Degree in Forensic Science, can drive a golf ball 300 yards and has a brain snapping IQ in the 98th percentile. She prefers to, and often does, work alone. Raver, who recently scored a recurring role on NBC’s Revolution,  joins a cast that also includes John Corbett, Scott Grimes (ER), Edwin Hodge (Cougar Town), Gillian Alexy (Damages), and Miguel Ferrer, who’ll juggle both the L.A. edition and the offshoot.

British supernatural series Being Human has been canceled, BBC announced Thursday. The show will wrap up its fifth and final season (or series as our friends across the pond call them) later this year on BBC Three. Series creator Toby Whithouse promised an “epic, thrilling and shocking finale” in a post on the show’s official blog. Hal, Tom and Alex will face off with their most fearsome adversary yet: the Devil himself. About a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost living under the same roof, the format was adapted to an American series of the same name, which is currently airing its third season on Syfy.
The six-episode fifth season kicked off earlier this month on BBC Three. An air date for the finale has not yet been scheduled.
