Robin Roberts Has Bone-Marrow Disease, Will Get Transplant from Sister
Robin Roberts is facing another health scare. The Good Morning America anchor revealed Monday that she is battling MDS, or myelodysplastic syndrome, a disease of the blood and bone marrow – and that she will have a bone-marrow transplant, with her sister as a donor. "My doctors tell me I'm going to beat this – and I know it's true," Roberts, 51, writes in an emotional message to fans on the GMA website. "If you Google MDS, you may find some scary stuff, including statistics that my doctors insist don't apply to me. They say I'm younger and fitter than most people who confront this disease and will be cured." Roberts, who beat breast cancer several years ago, will begin chemotherapy immediately. The bone-marrow transplant will happen later this year. "I am very fortunate to have a sister who is an excellent match, and this greatly improves my chances for a cure," she says. She expects to miss "a chunk of time" after the transplant, but hopes to keep working at GMA full time, or close to it, until then. Roberts, who leaned on her sisters during her battle against breast cancer as well, suggested Monday that her cancer treatments were likely the cause of this new medical problem. Still, she is optimistic she'll make a full recovery.
Tommy Chong Reveals He Has Prostate Cancer
Comic Tommy Chong has some serious news, he revealed over the weekend. "I've got prostate cancer, and I'm treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis," Chong, one half of the '70s pothead comic duo of Cheech and Chongb said. Having been officially diagnosed "about a month ago" with "slow stage-one [cancer that I've] had for a long time," the 74-year-old said he first noticed symptoms about eight years ago, while he was behind bars for selling drug paraphernalia. During that period, he was drug-free for three years, he said. "So I know it had nothing to do with cannabis," he said. "Cannabis is a cure." He also made the point that legalizing marijuana "means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested." Chong went on to say he no longer smokes marijuana, having quit about a year ago "for health reasons." Because he's not using it to fight his cancer, he says he is ingesting hemp oil "at night, so I won't be woozy all day."After six years together and two children, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have tied the knot. After the ceremony, wedding guests stayed in dozens of tents McConaughey pitched on his sprawling property for the occasion.

The X Factor Judges Walk Out of Kansas City Auditions
Britney Spears wasn't the only one needing a break this time. "It was really awkward," says an audience member. "You could tell the judges were done." Spears, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Louis Walsh, who was subbing for an ill Simon Cowell, chose to leave in the middle of the audition rather than remain in front of a contestant who refused to look at them.Trace Cyrus and actress Brenda Song have called off their engagement and ended their relationship. Glenn Beck signs $100 million radio deal
Since Glenn Beck and Fox News parted ways last year, you might be under the impression that his star has receded from the national political conversation — if only because Jon Stewart and his Daily Show writers no longer use him as a daily punching bag. But Beck’s morning radio show remains a force, with ratings up nearly 50 percent from five years ago, and routinely trails only Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity in listeners. Today, his company, Mercury Radio Arts, renewed its deal with Clear Channel’s Premium Networks for five more years. Since we began our relationship 10 years ago, Glenn has not only built an incredible connection to his audience on multiple platforms, but has also established himself as a true talent and visionary,” stated Julie Talbott, Premiere Networks president, content and affiliate relations. “We’re incredibly proud of the continued growth and success of our partnership with Glenn and Mercury Radio Arts, and look forward to working together for many more years to come.”Beck’s departure from Fox News has cost him exposure, but just as Howard Stern once sacrificed access for creative control (and money) by shifting his show to satellite radio, the controversial conservative is swimming in financial success. Many fans have followed him to his video-streaming network, and his radio show can be heard daily on more than 400 stations across the country.
