Nick Cannon has been hospitalized in Aspen, Colo., with what his wife Mariah Carey is calling "mild kidney failure." "Please pray for Nick as he's fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure. #mybraveman," the singer wrote on Twitter Wednesday, alongside a photo of her helping Cannon take a drink in his hospital bed. Carey later elaborated in a post on her website: "Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are." She added: "We're trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. ... I'm not trying to make light out of the situation because it's a serious moment that's very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers." Carey, 41, and Cannon, 31, were previously spotted out and about in Aspen on New Year's Eve. The couple have twins, Moroccan and Monroe, who were born on April 30.

Zooey Deschanel Files for Divorce from Ben Gibbard

While Golden Globe nominee Zooey Deschanel's career has hit a high note, her personal life is a bit more bittersweet. The New Girl actress, 31, filed for divorce on Dec. 27 from Death Cab for Cutie front man Ben Gibbard, 35. The papers list their date of separation as Oct. 31 – Halloween – and cite irreconcilable differences. In November, a rep for Deschanel confirmed that the couple – married since 2009 – had separated.

Sam Hurd indicted on drug charges

Former NFL wide receiver Sam Hurd was indicted Wednesday on federal drug conspiracy and possession charges after he and another man were accused of trying to establish a drug-dealing network. The indictment handed up by a federal grand jury in Dallas accuses Hurd, cut by the Chicago Bears after his arrest last month during an undercover drug sting, and codefendant Toby Lujan of single counts of cocaine possession and conspiracy to possess cocaine. It also seeks forfeiture of $88,000 in cash by Lujan and a 2010 Cadillac Escalade by Hurd. Hurd remained free on $100,000 bond. Both could be sentenced to 10 years to life in prison if convicted of conspiracy and up to 40 years in prison if convicted of the possession count.  The 26-year-old Hurd, a San Antonio resident who now lives in the Chicago area, was arrested Dec. 14 outside a Chicago steakhouse after authorities said he agreed to buy a kilogram of cocaine from an undercover agent. The Bears cut the former Dallas Cowboys receiver Dec. 16, two days after his arrest. According to court documents, a confidential informant told federal Homeland Security investigators last July that a man, now identified as the 26-year-old Lujan, was trying to arrange purchase of cocaine for an unidentified man, later identified as Hurd. The complaint said Hurd was arrested outside a Chicago steakhouse after allegedly telling an undercover agent that he was interested in buying five to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week to distribute in the Chicago area.


Ochocinco and Lozado Wedding on Hold
Chad Ochocinco's famous fiancee has slammed the brakes on the couple's wedding plans, all because she suspects the NFL star has been messing around behind her back.  "Basketball Wives" star Evelyn Lozada recently confronted Ocho after she became suspicious about his behavior ... and she isn't convinced he's been faithful.  The two are set to be married in the summer; Evelyn hasn't "officially" cancelled the wedding yet. Plus, Chad and Evelyn were supposed to begin shooting their new reality show in just three weeks, that plan is also up in the air.

Marc Anthony Dating Venezuelan Model Shannon De Lima

J-Lo's not the only one moving on! Marc Anthony has a new lady in his life. On Tuesday, the 43-year-old singer tweeted a message to Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima that said, translated into English, "To Shannon, my status of liberty. Kisses baby!"   De Lima has a 4-year-old son from a previous relationship. She and Anthony went public with their romance this past weekend, re-tweeting congratulatory messages, including one from his son Chase.  Chase tweeted: "To all my followers and all Twitter peeps, follow the best couple of 2012 and for many for years Marc Anthony and Shannon De Lima!" Since their split in July, Jennifer Lopez has moved on with a much younger man: Casper Smart, 24.

Judge suggests T.O.'s career is over

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Marc Marmaro was obviously one of the few who actually watched Terrell Owens' televised October workout. And like many NFL general managers, Marmaro's critique was to the point Wednesday when he heard the wide receiver's request to reduce the amount of child support he has to pay in two of his four ongoing paternity cases. His NFL career seems to be over. I mean no disrespect," the judge said to Owens' lawyer in court, later adding that maybe there was a chance the six-time Pro Bowl receiver could make it back to the big time via the Arena Football League. The cash-strapped 38-year-old has been selling off assets at a loss recently in a bid to cover his sizeable debts. He has requested that his child-support payments be reduced because of his lack of income. Marmaro said Wednesday he needed some time to consider the request before making a decision.  Owens has played for five teams in 15 seasons. He amassed 983 yards and nine touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bengals last season, moving into second on the all-time receiving-yards list behind Jerry Rice at 15,934.


Sinead O'Connor reconciles with estranged husband
Despite likening her 16-day marriage marriage to a coffin, Sinead O’Connor is ready to jump back in. Eight days after announcing the end of her relationship with Barry Herridge, the singer — known on the Twittersphere as @vampyahslayah… or should I say Mrs. vampyahslayah? — gleefully tweeted their randy reunion. “Spent beautiful evening of love making with none other than husband! Who turned up angelically we decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend.” Seven hours later, O’Connor explained further, “we did rush so we gonna return to b friend g friend an be sickenly happy an go counsellin an move in in like a yr like regular people.” As for the haters, she railed,”f*** every other mother****** who dont like it.. so me all happy!! me love me hubby.. he love me… f** who no like it.. God is good!” According to O’Connor, it was Herridge who pushed for the reunion: “me husband is a big hairy cave man an came to claim me with his club.”

It's just about that time of year - Girl Scout cookie time. And while we're sure you will be buying boxes of Thin Mints and Caramel Delights, don't forget to leave room for the newest Girl Scout Cookie - Savannah Smiles. A new cookie is being introduced in honor of it being the 100th anniversary of Girl Scout cookies. The Girl Scouts blog says of the cookie, "This year's new cookie, "Savannah Smiles," is a cool and crisp lemon wedge cookie. It's name reflects the home of Girl Scout Founder Juliette Gordon Low."

The Hallmark Channel announced today that it will cease production on The Martha Stewart Show after this season but continue airing the show — presumably repeats — through the end of summer 2012. The show first debuted in 2005 and aired in syndication. It has aired on the Hallmark Channel since 2010 and in its first season on the network the program earned two Daytime Emmy Awards.


Former NBA bigwig Charles Barkley returns to host Saturday Night Live for a third time this weekend.


After just half a season, Jillian Michaels is out as co-host on the syndicated talk show The Doctors. “I have enjoyed my time on the show and the opportunity it provided me in my mission to help others improve their lives,” the former Biggest Loser trainer said in a statement. Rumors are Michaels is set to return to the Biggest Loser.


Rookie Blue star Eric Johnson is going from arresting bad guys on the Canadian drama to getting locked up on Alcatraz. The Smallville alum will guest star on the new Fox series as one of the many prisoners who disappeared from the famed island jailhouse 50 years ago and are now mysteriously returning sans signs of aging. Alcatraz debuts with a two-hour premiere Monday, Jan. 16 at 8/7c.


Neve Campbell’s real-life brother, Christian Campbell (Big Love), will play her onscreen brother in Lifetime’s two-hour original movie/backdoor pilot, Sworn to Silence.

Dr. Drew’s VH1 drug rehab facility is closed — at least for now. VH1 has no current plans for 2012 editions of its hit show Celebrity Rehab, or its spin-off Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House, though both could return at some point later on.


The CW’s Nikita has tapped Fame‘s Erica Gimpel for a two-episode guest stint as Carla, the woman who took Nikita off the streets. While Carla is like a mother figure to Nikita, they’ll be reunited under unfortunate circumstances, with secrets about both women coming to light. Gimpel, who played Wallace’s mom on Veronica Mars, will first appear in Episode 14, airing in February.
