Visionary Apple co-founder Steve Jobs dies at 56
Steve Jobs, the Apple founder and former CEO who invented and masterfully marketed ever-sleeker gadgets that transformed everyday technology, from the personal computer to the iPod and iPhone, has died. He was 56. Apple announced his death without giving a specific cause. He had been battling pancreatic cancer. "We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," the company said in a brief statement. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve." Jobs had battled cancer in 2004 and underwent a liver transplant in 2009 after taking a leave of absence for unspecified health problems. He took another leave of absence in January — his third since his health problems began — before resigning as CEO six weeks ago. Jobs became Apple's chairman and handed the CEO job over to his hand-picked successor, Tim Cook. Jobs' family issued a statement: "Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family. ... We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Steve. We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief." Jobs is survived by his biological mother; sister Mona Simpson; Lisa Brennan-Jobs, his daughter by onetime girlfriend Chrisann Brennan; wife Laurene; and their three children, Erin, Reed and Eve.

Rapper Chaos Kid Commits Suicide
Eminem’s former group member and associate Chaos Kid has committed suicide. Chaos Kid befriended Eminem around 1988, while working with producer Mike “Manix” Ruby, who was making music for a young Eminem and Chaos Kid. They worked together under the production team “Bassmint Productions” from 1989–1992, and they performed a number of shows together as well. The pair also recorded a number of unreleased tunes together as part of a group called “Soul Intent,” which recorded a demo tape around their senior year of high school. Chaos Kid also defended Eminem when controversial demo tapes surfaced featuring the rapper using the N-word and disrespecting African-American women on a song titled “Suckerin’ Rhymin.” “Marshall Mathers is not a racist,” Chaos Kid told MTVNews. “Although the songs were in bad taste, they were not intended to be taken seriously or even heard and do not represent the true sentiments of Eminem.”

Sarah Palin said on Wednesday that she will not seek the Republican U.S. presidential nomination in 2012, ending months of speculation and leaving the Republican field largely settled. Palin had left the door open to a run but gave little sign of joining the race to challenge Democratic President Barack Obama. She made it official in a letter to supporters and in an interview with conservative talk radio host Mark Levin. "After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for president of the United States," she said in the letter. Her decision leaves Republican voters to choose from a field that is led by former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, Texas Governor Rick Perry, and businessman Herman Cain, and includes a host of others. Her announcement came a day after New Jersey Governor Chris Christie opted against running.A Black Bond?
British actor Idris Elba, who starred as the infamous character Stringer Bell on HBO’s The Wire was asked at a recent press junket for his show Luther about the possibility of taking over the Bond reigns after current star Daniel Craig finished his last contracted film as 007. In the past, Craig has also gone on record to say that Elba would be the perfect candidate. When asked about the “rumor,” Elba said “I would do it, but I don’t want to be called the first black James Bond. Do you understand what I’m saying? Sean Connery wasn’t the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn’t the blue-eyed James Bond. So if I played him, I don’t want to be called the black James Bond.”

Ten Things You May Not Have Known About Steve Jobs
1) College drop-out: Like Mark Zuckerberg who dropped out of Harvard to create facebook, Steve Jobs had better things to do than go to school. He attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon, but dropped out after 6 months. He got a job with Atari and a year later he co-founded Apple.
2) He co-founded Pixar: Jobs was so successful with Apple that a lot of people don't know that in 1986 Steve Jobs purchased the animation studio, Pixar, for $5 million and gave the company an additional $5 million to experiment with animation. Jobs was also one of the people responsible for the sale of Pixar to Disney nearly 20 years later.
3) He was adopted: Steve Jobs' biological mother gave him up for adoption one week after giving birth. She was unmarried and was also in graduate school. Jobs was then adopted by and Armenian husband and wife, Paul and Clara Hagopian. In the 90's he decided to track down his long lost sister whom he finally met when he was 27. Not surprisingly his sister, Mona Simpson is a successful author and UCLA professor.
4) He's a Buddhist: He was such a hardcore Zen Buddhist that he almost thought about joining a monastery and becoming a monk. He was married in a Buddhist tradition by a Zen monk who was his own personal guru.
5) He was a player: Before Jobs married his wife Laurene Powell in 1991. He dated Hollywood starlets (at the time) like Dianne Keaton and Joan Baez. He also fathered a child with a woman named Chrisann Brennan but denied paternity, claiming he was sterile. He later acknowledged paternity. In 1989, Jobs spoke at Stanford's graduate business school and met his wife, Laurene Powell, who was then a student. When she became pregnant, Jobs at first refused to marry her. It was a near-repeat of what had happened more than a decade earlier with then-girlfriend Brennan, Deutschman said, but eventually Jobs relented.
6) Their first creation was the Apple I — essentially, the guts of a computer without a case, keyboard or monitor. The Apple II, which hit the market in 1977, was their first machine for the masses. It became so popular that Jobs was worth $100 million by age 25.
7) He was fired from Apple: He created Apple at the age of 20 out of his parents garage with his friend Steve Wozniak. After 10 years growing the company and right as he turned 30, he had a falling out with Wozniak and the board of directors sided with Wozniak and Jobs was fired. However, he said it was the best thing that ever happened to him. "The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again," he once said.
8) He made Apple famous: After 10 years away from Apple he returned in 1996, a company that struggled through most of the late 80's and 90's. Remember those chunky Mac computers of the 90's? Me neither. That was the period when Steve Jobs wasn't doing his magic over at Apple. A few years later in 2001 he developed the Ipod and never looked back.
9) He doesn't eat meat: He's actually a Pescetarian, which means he eats fish but no other meat. He will eat eggs and dairy and anything else a vegetarian would eat.
10) Steve Jobs estimated net worth is $8.3 Billion: He was number #39 on Forbes list of the Richest People in America in 2011.
