Operation was designed to kill bin Laden
The operation that killed Osama bin Laden was designed to do just that, not to take him alive, a U.S. government official told CNN Monday. DNA matching is under way on samples from the body of the slain terrorist leader, the official said. There are photographs of the body with a gunshot wound to the side of the head that shows an individual who is not unrecognizable as bin Laden, the official said. No decision has yet been made on whether to release the photographs and if so, when and how. Four others in the compound also were killed. One of them was bin Laden's adult son, and another was a woman being used as a shield by a male combatant, the officials said. Bin Laden's body was later buried at sea, an official said. Many Muslims adhere to the belief that bodies should be buried within one day. The official did not release additional details about the burial, but said it was handled in keeping with Muslim customs. The death of the founder and leader of al Qaeda comes almost 10 years after the September 11, 2001, attacks that killed about 3,000 people.
Guy Who Live-Tweeted U.S. Raid on Bin Laden by Accident Inundated With Media Requests
Sohaib Athar -- the Abbottabad IT consultant that tweeted the U.S. raid on Osama Bin Laden by accident -- has been inundated with media requests since news of the Al-Qaeda leader's death broke. And now he just wants to sleep. "Bin Laden is dead," Athar wrote on Twitter on Monday. "I didn’t kill him. Please let me sleep now." On Sunday afternoon (or early Monday local time), Athar tweeted as U.S. forces were carrying out their mission:
"Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event)."Then:
"A huge window shaking bang here in Abbottabad Cantt. I hope it’s not the start of something nasty."
"The few people online at this time of the night are saying one of the copters was not Pakistani."
"People are saying it was not a technical fault and it was shot down. I heard it CIRCLE 3-4 times above, sounded purposeful."
Only Obama's announcement did Athar realize what he had been tweeting -- and anticipated the deluge. "Uh oh, now I'm the guy who liveblogged the Osama raid without knowing it," he wrote as word of his accidental scoop spread. Athar told the BBC he's since been hit with a barrage of media requests from around the world. So how was Athar the only apparent Abbottabad resident tweeting about the operation? "Not many people use Twitter here," Athar said. "Everyone uses Facebook."

But they did not fly off to their honeymoon, the couple has decided to stay in Britain this weekend, palace officials said. The palace has not revealed where in Britain they have gone for the weekend. The couple are thought to be seeking privacy after the intense media focus on their wedding. Earlier, officials said William has scheduled a two-week leave from his military duties for the couple's honeymoon, but no specific dates or locations have been announced.

This Sunday, FOX planned to air a highly anticipated crossover of their animated comedies "Family Guy," "American Dad," and "The Cleveland Show." The event, dubbed "Animation Domination" has been widely promoted, but has been canceled. In the crossover, the characters of all three shows were impacted by a hurricane. FOX decided that the content wasn't appropriate given the deadly storms that have led to lost lives and homes in the southern U.S. this week. More than 300 people have been confirmed dead due to tornado touchdowns.
Nearly 23 million Americans rose early on Friday to watch Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot. The Nielsen Co. said the 22.76 million viewers were spread out over 11 different networks. The company's measurement was for the period of 6 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. EDT, when the ceremony was taking place. Websites reported high traffic, too. ABCNews.com said it's online traffic Friday was its highest since the 2008 presidential election. And, E! Online said its 23.6 million page views on Friday was its most ever. The wedding was telecast on ABC, CBS, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, BBC America, CNN, E! Entertainment, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and TLC.
Across the pond, however, Charles and Diana still rule. Nearly 27 million viewers in the UK watched Kate trade vows with William on BBC, ITV or Sky News, compared to the 28.4 million who tuned in for the royal wedding 30 years ago. Friday’s ceremony also ranked behind UK coverage of Princess Diana’s 1997 funeral.
Television's "Judge Judy" is keeping her hand firmly on the gavel through 2015. Judy Sheindlin signed a new multiyear deal to stay with the long-running syndicated program that last season ranked No. 1 in daytime, CBS Television Distribution said. "I am thrilled with the opportunity to continue this exciting second career," Sheindlin, 68, said in a statement. A former judge in New York, the tart-tongued Sheindlin presides over small-claims cases on her program that's in its 15th season.
NBC is upping the star power on "The Voice" by adding singers Reba McEntire, Monica and Sia and music producer Adam Blackstone as new advisers. They join Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Aguilera will team up with Sia, Levine with Maroon 5 music director Blackstone, Green with Monica, and Shelton with McEntire, who goes by just Reba these days.
"Glee" producer Ryan Murphy has finally found the handsome male lead for "American Horror Story," his much buzzed about pilot for FX. Dylan McDermott is joining the cast that already includes film star Jessica Lange, and "Friday Night Lights" actress Connie Britton.
Looks like Glenn Beck has hopped on the right-wing hate bandwagon that's been rolling all over "Glee" lately. Beck trained his laser-like focus on the musical series on his show this week, deeming it "a horror show" and "a nightmare" because "everyone is sleeping with everyone else, it's all about self-gratification."
