Fox News Twitter page hacked, falsely tweets Obama is assassinated

FoxNews.com’s politically focused Twitter page, FoxNewspolitics, caused quite a stir early this morning after sending out messages to its more than 36,000 followers that President Barack Obama had been shot twice and killed at an Iowa restaurant. The assassination reports are false and were apparently sent out after Fox’s account was hacked. President Obama and his family are currently enjoying their July 4 at the White House. Fox News alerted the Secret Service of the breach, and vice president and general manager of Fox News Digital Jeff Misenti said in a statement, “We will be requesting a detailed investigation from Twitter about how this occurred, and measures to prevent future unauthorized access into FoxNews.com accounts.”

Maria Shriver Files for Divorce

Maria Shriver finally filed for divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger. Her attorney, the famed Laura Wasser, filed the petition citing “irreconcilable differences” in Los Angeles Superior Court. Arnold and Maria didn't have a prenup, which means things might turn ugly. Maria is entitled to half of Arnold’s earnings, which is thought to be hundreds of millions of dollars. When they announced their separation they released a statement saying: "At this time, we are living apart, while we work on the future of our relationship. We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the centre of our lives.” After that announcement we found out about Mildred, the maid that had a baby with Arnold. Arnold and Maria are reportedly on speaking terms and want an “amicable” divorce, but that’s always the case until money and kids get involved.

Salma Hayek's Husband is Linda Evangelista's Baby Daddy

Salma Hayek's daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, 3, has a second half-brother. According to court papers recently filed by supermodel Linda Evangelista, her son, Augustin James, 4, was fathered by Hayek's husband, François-Henri Pinault. Hayek and Pinault wed in 2009, but dated since 2006, around the time Evangelista got pregnant. (Pinault has two other children – a son and a daughter – from his previous marriage, which ended in divorce in 2004.) Now Evangelista has filed a petition seeking support from the French businessman, 49. "In the filing, it says the child 'was born out of wedlock to [petitioner] Linda Evangelista, 46, and that [Pinault] acknowledged [her] allegation,' " a source familiar with the filing says. "It says, 'It is decided that Pinault is the father of [Evangelista's son], Augustin James.' " It has not been determined how much support Pinault will be obligated to pay for his child with Evangelista. "All that's left is for a magistrate to go over the father's filings and make a determination of support, which will last until the child is 21," the source says. "[Pinault] is asking to be able to testify by phone." Meanwhile, another source says: "This is no Schwarzenegger case. No one was married. There was no infidelity." The Pinault family's luxury goods empire is reportedly worth $16-18 billion. Pinault's 2010 salary was $5.4 million. In New York, where the court papers were filed, the law requires a father to pay 17 percent of what he earns in child support. This would mean Pinault should owe around $920,000 for that year.

Kate Moss Ties the Knot

Moss, 37, tied the knot with fiancé Jamie Hince near her Cotswold, England, home. Police monitored roads surrounding the model's home, which was barricaded for the festivities. Celebrations continued over the weekend, for a days-long party dubbed by the media as "Mosstock." Following a ceremony at St. Peter's Church in Southrop, the bride and groom posed for pictures with her 12 bridesmaids, including her daughter Lila Grace, 8. The bride wore a cream, vintage-style dress with rhinestone detail, reportedly by John Galliano, while the groom donned a light blue Yves Saint Laurent suit, striped shirt and patterned tie. The couple's mutual friend Sadie Frost first introduced Moss to The Kills rocker backstage at his concert in 2007. They were engaged in Feb. 2011.

Will. I. Am Escapes Hotel Fire

Talk about a close call! Black Eyed Peas star Will.I.am was forced to flee his London hotel after the hotel caught on fire! He was staying at London’s Hilton hotel on Park Lane when the building went up in flames. 1,500 people were forced to evacuate the hotel around 7pm. He was in town because the BEP were forming a concert at Hyde Park, which was attended by Annie Lennox and Liza Minnelli. Luckily no one was injured, but Will.I.am did manage to tweet a photo of the building. He stayed pretty calm throughout the while scenario, even when he was forced to cover his mouth with a t-shirt to avoid inhaling smoke. But he didn’t let the while ‘I almost died in a fire’ thing get him down. He took the stage with the BEP later that same night.

'Transformers' smashes the box office

After a relatively slow start for its Wednesday opening, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" picked up considerable Box Office power. Nike Resigns Michael Vice; Celebs Tweet Disappointment

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was a Nike spokesperson at the beginning of his career, but the company dropped him in 2007 after he was accused of abusing, torturing, and executing dogs as part of his illegal dogfighting ring. On Friday, Nike announced that they had re-signed Vick as a spokesman. "Michael acknowledges his past mistakes," Nike reps told CNN. "We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field." Nike, who also gave disgraced golfer Tiger Woods a brand spanking new endorsement deal, publicly denied working with Vick in 2009, but have since added him back to the roster. As can be expected, many football fans (and Nike customers) weren't pleased with the news -- including some high-profile celebrities. "Big Bang Theory" star and Humane Society supporter Kaley Cuoco simply wrote, "Dear Nike, I'm disappointed.Sophia Bush, entering her ninth season on "One Tree Hill," had a few choice words as well. "NIKE just signed Michael Vick!?" she tweeted. "Done. Over. Lost customer. NEVER wearing Nike again. The propensity to be cruel and ruthless toward a defenseless animal is sick, twisted, & unforgivable. #NOTaRoleModel." Jenna Dewan, who will star in this fall's "The Playboy Club" on NBC, re-tweeted Bush's sentiments, adding, "Yes, I do believe in forgiveness, but that does not mean I need to support him as an inspirational figure." It's been a good week for Vick. At Sunday's 2011 BET Awards show, he was named Athlete of the Year in a category sponsored by Subway. Facebook groups cropped up immediately, including "Boycott Subway for Supporting Michael Vick" and "NO WAY Subway."

Glee Exclusive: Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr. In, Chord Overstreet Out!

It’s a case of good news/bad news for Glee fans. First the good: Darren Criss (Blaine) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) have officially been upgraded to full-time series regulars, effective this fall with the start of Season 3.
And now for the not so good news…Chord Overstreet‘s series regular option has not been picked up. However, a source close to the show says the actor — who joined the Fox hit last fall in the recurring role of McKinley transfer student Sam Evans — could return as an occasional guest star. Late Friday, Overstreet issued a cryptic tweet saying, “It’s been a good year. Too bad it’s over. Time for summer and starting fresh. Glee Boss Ryan Murphy: ‘Amazing Stories’ Coming for Mercedes, Mike, Tina, and Sue. The news comes two weeks after series creator Ryan Murphy raised eyebrows when he told Ryan Seacrest that most of the show’s primary characters would graduate by the end of next season.

Former 'Wonder Woman' is now a 'G.I. Joe'

"GI Joe" is looking better than "Wonder Woman" for Adrianne Palicki. The "Friday Night Lights" actress will play Lady Jaye, the female lead in "GI Joe: Cobra Strikes." Palicki had been cast as Wonder Woman, but NBC did not pick up the show. Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson also star in the Jon Chu movie. Ray Park and Byung-hun Lee are expected back from the first "G.I. Joe" as Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese wrote the screenplay. Paramount did reasonably well with the first "G.I. Joe." 2009's "G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra" grossed $302 million at the worldwide box office. Its budget was estimated at $175 million. The movie is set for an Aug. 10, 2012 release.

TV News

Starz has cancelled its Arthurian fantasy Camelot after one season. Camelot received middling reviews from critics and had somewhat ho-hum ratings, averaging less than a million viewers per episode. The lavish series also had trouble generating much buzz after it launched alongside HBO’s breakout fantasy Game of Thrones and Showtime’s better-reviewed historical drama The Borgias. Starz’ genre fans can at least look forward to the upcoming Torchwood and the return of Spartacus next year.

Both Google and Hulu are staying mum concerning reports that the companies are in preliminary talks for Google to buy the online video site. A Hulu spokeswoman declined to comment. The unnamed sources also claimed Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo were also among those interested.

It didn’t take Fox News long to replace Glenn Beck. Just hours before his last show yesterday, Fox News released a statement announcing that the 5 p.m. hour, which Beck built into a ratings juggernaut, will be the home of The Five. Beginning July 11, the roundtable show will feature a collection of rotating Fox personalities, including Greg Gutfeld, Juan Williams, Dana Perino, Judge Andrew Napolitano, Geraldo Rivera, Andrea Tantaros, Eric Bolling, Monica Crowley, Bob Beckel, and Kimberly Guilfoyle, as well as occasional guest celebrities and newsmakers.

Is there or isn’t there a new King of Late Night? Comedy Central is claiming victory after The Daily Show with Jon Stewart edged Jay Leno’s Tonight Show in the crucial Adult 18-49 demographic for the second quarter that ended June 26. Though The Tonight Show still draws the most overall viewers every night, 3.9 million, compared to The Daily Show‘s 2.2 million, Stewart’s show edged Leno, 1.295 million to 1.292 million, in the younger more advertiser-friendly demo. But not so fast, says NBC. Spokesperson Tom Bierbaum says that Comedy Central strategically counted the ratings only for new episodes, while neglecting the ratings for reruns. According to their tabulations, The Tonight Show comes out on top when every episode is counted, 1.283 million to 1.167 million. Moreover, NBC makes the point that the first half-hour of The Tonight Show draws 1.37 million, which they contend is a fairer apple-to-apples comparison with the half-hour Daily Show. In an e-mail, Comedy Central spokesman Steve Albani said, “Broadcast traditionally has always included original plays and encores but like a lot of things they do, we believe that to be an archaic way of measuring performance. To each their own.”
