Coheed and Cambria bassist arrested for allegedly robbing Massachusetts pharmacy
Coheed and Cambria member Michael Todd was arrested for allegedly robbing a pharmacy in Mansfield, MA. Police say Todd, who plays bass with the prog-metal outfit, showed a Walgreens pharmacist a note in which he claimed to have a bomb and then left the store with six bottles of Oxycontin. The musician then took a taxi to Mansfield’s Comcast Center, where Coheed and Cambria were set to open for Soundgarden. He was arrested prior to the show and the band played without him.
Coheed and Cambria posted the following message on their facebook page: “Michael Todd was arrested today on what we consider very serious charges and therefore he will not be finishing up the current tour. Wes Styles, long time member of the Coheed family will take on bass duties starting tomorrow for the remaining dates. No shows will be canceled.”
Todd was arraigned in Attleboro District Court. The charges against the bassist — armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics — were read and Judge Daniel O’Shea increased Todd’s bail from $10,000 to $25,000 cash. Todd is due back in court on August 9.
Halle Berry Finds Stalker Peeking in Window
On Saturday, Halle Berry called the police after she saw a man walking around her property. The man jumped her wall and started walking around her front yard. It was speculated that it was a paparazzo trying to get a shot, but she made another call on Sunday after spotting him again. When law enforcement arrived, the intruder was gone. Three cars and a helicopter showed up to the scene. Halle was in her kitchen on Sunday, and when she looked out the window, she saw a man staring at her, holding a book. Berry called 911, and LAPD circled Halle’s home for half an hour but were unable to find the trespasser. So far, law enforcement hasn’t ruled out that it might be a photographer, but they believe it’s most likely an obsessed fan trying to get an autograph.
Rapper Briscoe Surrenders to Police
A popular rapper wanted for a local assault on a teen has turned himself in to authorities, North Miami Beach Police said. Brisco, whose real name is British Alexander Mitchell, surrendered on aggravated battery charges for allegedly punching an 18-year old man and knocking him unconscious June 30. Brisco then fled the scene in a white Range Rover, police said. Police announced last week that they wanted to talk to Brisco, who was born and raised in Opa-locka. The 29-year-old rapper, who has worked with hip hop icons Rick Ross and Lil Wayne, released his first album "Street Medicine" earlier this year. Many speculated the attack was revenge for a prior incident. In 2009, Briscoe was getting his hair cut at a Miami barbershop when a group of armed men came in, forced Brisco to the floor and stole his jewelry, cash and Range Rover.
Mila Kunis: Officially the coolest celebrity on the planet
Mila Kunis earned major street cred (like she needed any more) by apparently accepting an invitation from a fan to this year’s Marine Corps Ball. Sgt. Scott Moore, who is stationed with the 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines in Musa Qalain, Afghanistan, took a leap of faith when he posted a quick video on YouTube last week asking the Friends with Benefits star to the annual soiree. A reporter asked Kunis at a recent event if she’d seen the video. She hadn’t, but Benefits co-star Justin Timberlake vowed to make it his mission to get her to view the viral invitation, urging, “You need to do it for your country!” Eventually Kunis has gladly accepted, saying on the red carpet, “I’ll do it.” The event will be held in Greenville, North Carolina, this November 18.
Arnold Schwarzenegger moving forward with Western ‘The Last Stand’
Less than two months after announcing that he was putting all of his Hollywood projects on hold as he weathered the scandal surrounding revelations he had fathered a child with his housekeeper, Arnold Schwarzenegger is evidently ready to get back in the saddle — with a Western, no less. The film, which will mark the English-language debut of Korean director Jee-woon Kim (The Good, The Bad, The Weird), is set to begin production in September and will hit theaters next year. Schwarzenegger is also attached to play a horse trainer in the drama Cry Macho and has held discussions with director Justin Lin (Fast Five) about a potential fifth installment in the Terminator franchise, but those projects will move to the back burner behind The Last Stand.
