Ross Says No "Hunger" Sequel For Him

Despite the various reports flying thick and fast in recent weeks in regards to his involvement, it was thought at both Lionsgate and in a lot of circles that "The Hunger Games" director Gary Ross would ultimately come back to helm the sequel "Catching Fire". Well any chance of that happening has just been shot to hell with Ross and the studio releasing official statements.  From Gary Ross: "Despite recent speculation in the media, and after difficult but sincere consideration, I have decided not to direct Catching Fire. As a writer and a director, I simply don’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule. I loved making The Hunger Games – it was the happiest experience of my professional life. And contrary to what has been reported, negotiations with Lionsgate have not been problematic. They have also been very understanding of me through this difficult decision. To the fans I want to say thank you for your support your faith, your enthusiasm and your trust. Hard as this may be to understand I am trying to keep that trust with you. Thank you all. It’s been a wonderful experience." From Lionsgate: "We’re very sorry that Gary Ross has chosen not to direct Catching Fire. We were really looking forward to making the movie with him. He did an incredible job on the first film and we are grateful for his work. This will not be the end of our relationship, as we consider Ross to be part of the Lionsgate family and look forward to working with him in the future."

Former WWE Wrestler Arrested for Domestic Violence
Wrestling legend Scott Hall was arrested  after allegedly choking out his girlfriend in a drunken fit of rage -- this according to the arrest report. Cops were called to Scott's Florida home over a domestic disturbance in progress around 5pm. When they arrived, Scott's GF Lisa Howell informed police he had attacked her. According to Lisa, Scott had been drinking for days and the two had gotten into some kind of argument. Lisa says she got into her car, and in a blind rage, Scott grabbed her by the throat and tried to pull her out of the driver's seat. According to the report, police confronted Scott -- who appeared heavily intoxicated with an "unknown white secretion flowing from both sides of his mouth" -- but he denied ever getting violent. Police observed several signs of physical injury on Lisa -- including red marks around her neck -- so they placed Scott under arrest for domestic battery. Scott -- billed at 6'7" and 287 pounds -- required TWO sets of handcuffs. Scott was so drunk ... the jail refused to book him ... so the arresting officer had to drag him to a nearby hospital to get medical clearance. The physicians gave their thumbs up and Scott was brought back to the correctional facility, where he was finally booked on domestic violence charges.

Melissa Etheridge Court Battle with Ex-Wife Continues
Melissa, who is in an epic battle with Tammy, wants the judge to order both her and Tammy to go smoke-free around their twins ... to prevent any cigarette-related accidents from happening in the future. In the docs, Melissa also claims Tammy has accused her of having no maternal instinct and therefore is against striking a 50/50 joint custody deal. Melissa says Tammy is adamant ... she did not give birth to the children to give them away. Melissa calls Tammy "angry and vindictive." Melissa says Tammy once sent her an email saying, "You have to support so many households because YOU BROKE SO MANY HOUSEHOLDS, silly.  If you had decided to have one ounce of integrity/honesty as a person or partner, you would NOT be in this predicament. Think about it." In her docs, Melissa attached an email she claims Tammy sent her way ... which says, "They aren't leaving my care while you are on the road -- a completely inappropriate place for 3-year-olds -- not to mention you can't track them, have no child care, and they were bit by dogs in the house last time you had them." Melissa is asking a judge for more time with the kids. A hearing is set for May 22.

Montell Jordan Still Owes the IRS
"This Is How We Do It" singer Montell Jordan insists he's no deadbeat taxpayer saying he's already paid his $617,000 tax bill and the money just hasn't made its way into the pockets of the IRS ... yet. The IRS filed a Federal Tax Lien against Jordan recently, claiming the singer still owes $617,987.06 in back taxes from 1999-2001. Montell says, he paid the debt years ago by selling his music catalog ... but the money's been sitting frozen in an account administered by the U.S. Trustee Program, a division of the Department of Justice that oversees bankruptcy cases. Montell filed for bankruptcy in 2004 -- and says he's still disputing some of the IRS penalties he's incurred. He expects the money to be released to the IRS in a few weeks when he settles negotiations over the penalties ... at which point the case will be closed.
