Neil Diamond to Marry His Manager

Neil Diamond has found his muse, and she happens to be his manager. The "Sweet Caroline" singer, 70, announced Wednesday on Twitter that he is engaged to Katie McNeil, 46, who executive produced a 2009 documentary about him. "Good news coming from sunny LA/ and you're the first I want to tell/ Katie & I just got engaged/ and I hope you wish us well," he wrote in a rhyming couplet, like a song lyric. Diamond, 70, also posted a photo of McNeil taken in London last month. "I'd like you to meet Katie," he wrote. "I'm lovestruck." This will be the third marriage for recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. He was previously married to Jayne Posner, with whom he has two daughters, and Marcia Murphey, with whom he has two sons.

The actress, director and screenwriter, 32, is “really excited, super excited” to be 3½ months pregnant with her first child with new husband David Sandomierski.  The pair wed two weeks ago in a small ceremony attended by immediate family members, Polley shares. After turns on-screen in movies such as The Sweet Hereafter and Go, Polley headed behind the camera and was nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay of her directorial debut, Away From Her. Her latest film, Take This Waltz, starring Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen, premieres Saturday at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Soulja Boy apologizes for slamming U.S. Army

Rapper Soulja Boy apologized on Tuesday for lyrics that offended some U.S. Army soldiers, but media outlets reported that stores run by the military will not carry his new album because of the song. Soulja Boy, in a video posted online for a song called "Let's Be Real," rapped the lyrics "F--k the FBI and f--k all the Army troops/Fighting for what?/B--ch be your own man." Soulja Boy backed away from his lyrics in the song "Let's Be Real," in a blog post on Tuesday at GlobalGrind.com, a website founded by hip hop mogul Russell Simmons. "When I expressed my frustration with the U.S. Army, not only did my words come out wrong, I was wrong to even speak them," Soulja Boy wrote in the post. Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Shrader, a spokesman for military retail network, The Exchange, said that because of the controversy, Soulja Boy's upcoming album "Respect My Hustle" will not be carried in Exchange stores. But the Exchange, which is formerly known as the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, will reconsider the ban if the song "Let's Be Real" is cut from the album,

TV NEWS
William Shatner is returning to his cop roots with a guest stint on ABC’s Rookie Blue. The former T.J. Hooker star will play “a very drunk driver” in the Season 3 premiere.

Eriq La Salle is going back to the hospital this fall — as an esteemed colleague of A Gifted Man. The ER vet has booked a multi-episode arc on CBS’ new medical/medium drama as a neuropsychiatrist. A Gifted Man premieres Friday, Sept. 23, at 8/7c.

FX’s Sons of Anarchy opened its fourth season on Tuesday night with an audience of nearly 5 million total viewers, representing an all-time high for the biker drama. Within that tally, 3.22 million fell into the coveted 18-49 demo. The show’s previous record for a single episode was set by the Season 2 finale, which delivered 4.32 million viewers.

Alphas‘ Nina just may have gotten the ear of a Syfy bigwig, because the network has renewed the successful sci-fi series for Season 2.

Scott Foley is getting back in business with CBS, albeit strictly behind the scenes. The ex-Unit star is teaming up with former Everwood showrunner Rina Mimoun on The Escape Artist, a potential hour-long drama series about a brother and sister who help people disappear. The news comes at a busy time for Foley, who’s currently juggling recurring roles on both Grey’s Anatomy and, beginning this Sunday, True Blood.

Showtime will premiere Season 2 of Gigolos on Thursday, October 20 at 11/10c.

Miles Heizer, who plays Sarah’s rarely-seen son Drew on Parenthood, will finally get some serious screen time in Season 3. TeenNick actress Skyler Day (who was a recurring player on Marti Noxon’s short-lived Gigantic) will romance Drew as the adorable Amy.

ABC’s Happy Endings has nabbed The Daily Show correspondent Larry Wilmore for a guest spot/possibly recurring role, as the boss of Damon Wayans Jr.’s Brad.

JoAnna Garcia will presumably get pulses racing as a doctor on Royal Pains. In multiple episodes of USA Network’s medical dramedy, Garcia will play Dr. Nina Greene, a smart and compassionate nephrologist who may or may not be a former child star. The doc’s possibly famous-ish background comes to the fore when she is pressed on the issue by patient Jack O’Malley, aka the golf pro played by Ed‘s Tom Cavanagh.

History’s The Hatfields and McCoys has added True Blood werepanther Lindsay Pulsipher as the daughter of Bill Paxton’s Randall McCoy.

Eric Winter (Days of our Lives, The Mentalist) has been added to ABC’s midseason comedy Good Christian Belles in the recurring role of the “black sheep” brother of Kristin Chenoweth’s Carlene — and a possible love interest for Leslie Bibb’s lead character
