The pair also spent their sixth wedding anniversary – Sept. 24 – apart. Kutcher arrived in San Diego on Sept. 23 for a weekend of partying with his former That '70s Show costar Danny Masterson. Among their stops: Fluxx nightclub, where they had a VIP table. The actor also refrained from Tweeting anything on his wedding anniversary. Moore, 48, has been in New York City to promote the short film she directed as part of Lifetime's TV anthology, Five. The actress attended the premiere along with Jennifer Aniston, who also directed a short, on Monday night. 3D Dying Out?
With 3D screen revenue dwindling in North America and concerns now being raised in even the most conservative quarters, the technology's outlook suffered another blow today. Sony has sent a letter to North American theater owners announcing that as of May 1st 2012 they will no longer pay for the 3D glasses that go with their 3D movies, with other studios expected to soon follow suit. 3D glasses account for about 50 cents of a theater ticket, and cost a studio up to $5-10 million per tentpole picture. The move would bring the U.S. in line with other foreign territories like the U.K. and Australia where moviegoers buy their 3D glasses at the theater (in Australia it's around $1 per pair). While 3D screening revenue has been in decline in the United States this Summer, there hasn't been as significant a dip overseas. Yet even in those markets, the taste for the tech seems to be dwindling. BBC News reports that according to a recent poll only 19% of British filmgoers said that 3D actually improved the film. 41% saw it as "just a gimmick", while 52% said they'd be more inclined to see a 3D film "if they did not have to wear the glasses".

'Playboy Club' star Sean Maher opens up about his sexuality: 'This is my coming out ball'

Firefly alum and Playboy Club actor Sean Maher has worked steadily in Hollywood for 14 years, and during that time, he made the choice to be closeted about his personal life as a gay man — until now. For the first time, Maher opens up about his sexuality in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I was nervous coming here today because I’ve just never talked about it,” Maher says, while sitting down to chat at Little Dom’s Italian bistro in Los Angeles’ trendy Los Feliz neighborhood, the area where the actor lives with Paul, his partner of nearly nine years, and their two children, Sophia Rose, 4, and Liam Xavier, 14 months. “But, it’s so liberating. It was interesting to be coming to have a conversation that I was always afraid to have.” Despite his trepidation, he adds with a big smile: “This is my coming out ball. I’ve been dying to do this.” “I’ve never discussed it publicly,” the 36-year-old continues. “I’ve never been asked about it publicly, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t paint a different picture.” Maher says that not coming out wasn’t so much a choice as much as it was a reality of the business when he first came to L.A. fresh out of college back in 1997. Despite pressure from his manager and agent, both of whom he has since parted ways with, it was ultimately Maher’s decision to stay in the closet, out of concern that he wouldn’t otherwise be able to book leading-man roles. But being in the closet tormented Maher. “It was so exhausting, and I was so miserable,” Maher says. “I didn’t really have any life other than work and this façade I was putting on." In the end, coming out publicly is what Maher feels he needed to do to tie his life together, personally and professionally.

Vick: I won't complain any more

The star quarterback blasted officials after injuring his right hand in Philadelphia's 29-16 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday, saying he takes too many late hits without getting the benefit of roughing-the-passer penalties. ''The refs have to do their jobs and they have tons of things to look over,'' Vick said Monday. ''I was kind of out of character and being too candid in that aspect. Ultimately, I have respect for the referees and their decision to make calls. You won't hear me complaining about it no more.'' Vick bruised his right hand — the team initially said it was broken — after taking a hard shot from Chris Canty in the third quarter. His status for next Sunday's game against San Francisco is uncertain. ''At some point something catastrophic is going to happen,'' Vick said after the game. ''Not to blame the refs or say that it was their fault, it's just one of those unfortunate situations and I just think more precautions should be taken when I'm inside the pocket. If you look at all the replays, I'm on the ground every time and it's unfortunate for myself and it's unfortunate for my team and I'll be lying if I said I wasn't, if I were to sit here and say I wasn't frustrated right now because of that.''

He says it may take weeks before test results help determine the cause of death. The 40-year-old Brown was found dead Friday at his home near Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Brown was a 360-pound tackle who in 1999 was accidentally hit in the eye with a penalty flag and missed three seasons because of the damage it caused. He played 10 seasons in the NFL -- four with the Cleveland Browns and six with the Ravens.

Wanda Sykes: I Had a Double Mastectomy

Wanda Sykes being outrageous – that's expected. But for the actress-comedian to be serious? That's rare. Even when the issue is personal. In this case, it was also health-related, when she admitted for the first time, to Ellen DeGeneres during an interview to air Monday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, that earlier this year she had breast cancer and then elected to have a mastectomy. "I had breast cancer," says Sykes, 47. "Yeah, I know it's scary." The cancer was found after she had undergone what was essentially a cosmetic procedure, to have a breast reduction. "This was in February. I went for the reduction. I had real big boobs and I just got tired of knocking over stuff. Every time I eat … Oh lord. I’d carry a Tide stick everywhere I go," she quips. "My back was sore so it was time to have a reduction." She continues, "It wasn't until after the reduction that in the lab work, the pathology, that they found that I had DCIS [ductal carcinoma in situ] in my left breast. I was very, very lucky because DCIS is basically stage-zero cancer. So I was very lucky." As she is quick to point out, "But cancer is cancer. I had the choice of, you can go back every three months and get it checked. Have a mammogram, MRI every three months just to see what it's doing. But, I'm not good at keeping on top of stuff. I'm sure I’m overdue for an oil change and a teeth cleaning already." On top of which, "I have a lot of breast cancer history on my mother's side of the family." This latter fact prompted Sykes to reach a dramatic decision, "to have a bilateral mastectomy," she says. "I had both breasts removed … because now I have zero chance of having breast cancer."

Kim Delaney Escorted Off Stage After Incoherent Speech in Philadelphia

The Army Wives star appeared to veer off script during a protracted and, at times, incoherent speech Thursday night at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center at the Liberty Medal Award presentation to former defense secretary Robert Gates. The actress, 49, fidgeted at the podium as she told crowd members how she "served in active military duty family for five years" and went on to say how she "attended numerous military funerals, including that of my best friend's son." After pausing, Delaney then explained to the crowd, who sat in stunned silence, that she in fact was talking about her role on the Lifetime television show, though she noted her father was a Korean war veteran. According to a local ABC news affiliate, Delaney, 49, was escorted off the stage before she could finish her speech. In 2002 the actress was arrested on suspicion for drunken driving after refusing a breathalyzer test. She later pleaded no contest. She has also reportedly entered rehab for alcohol addiction twice.

Jesse James and Kat Von D Split ... Again

Another month – and another breakup for Jesse James and Kat Von D. "I am not in a relationship," the tattoo artist said in a post on her Facebook page on Saturday. "And I apologize for all the 'back and forth' if it's caused any confusion." The couple, who had been planning a summer wedding, called off their engagement in July. A month later, Von D's reality show L.A. Ink was canceled. Despite the setback, she was on a personal high because the engagement was back on. So what went wrong this time? "It was clear to me that we were just on two different paths in life," Von D says. "My friend put it best when he said I could never be more deserving of total, noble love. And as a woman, I think it's important to know your value and never lose sight of that." Being in a long-distance relationship may have also been a factor for Von D and James, who lives in Austin, Texas. "I am not in any way moving to Texas," Von D posted on Facebook. "And I am not leaving my shop here in Los Angeles, High Voltage Tattoo." But Von D clearly has no hard feelings: "I wish Jesse nothing but the best in life and in love," she says.

Michael Vick Breaks Hand
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick broke his right hand and was forced out of Sunday's 29-16 loss to the New York Giants. "It's just unfortunate, " Vick said. "I got hit late. There was no flag. That's it." Asked if he'll be able to play in the next game, "I don't know." Vick had his right hand wrapped with ice during the Eagles' postgame news conference. He had received X-rays to his right hand earlier in the second half, although he didn’t miss a snap. Mike Kafka entered the game in place of Vick. Vick's status for this game was in doubt after he sustained a concussion in last week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. But he got the start and was 16-for-23 with 176 yards passing, no touchdowns and one interception before he left the game with 11 minutes left in regulation. Vick also had 31 yards rushing on seven attempts.

'Lion King' chases off Brad Pitt to remain No. 1

Brad Pitt was unable to put the cat out of first place at the weekend box office. Walt Disney's "The Lion King" reissue was No. 1 for the second-straight weekend with $22.1 million. That puts it just ahead of Pitt's baseball drama "Moneyball," a Sony Pictures release that opened at No. 2 with $20.6 million.
Debuting closely behind at No. 3 was the Warner Bros. family film "Dolphin Tale" with $20.3 million. "Dolphin Tale" stars Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman. The 3-D reissue of 1994's "The Lion King" has taken in $61.7 million since opening the previous weekend to a much bigger audience than expected. That's on top of nearly $800 million worldwide the movie made in its original run and a 2002 re-release. The film has done so well that Disney plans to leave it in theaters longer than the two-week run the studio initially planned as a prelude to its Blu-ray home-video debut Oct. 4, said Dave Hollis, Disney's head of distribution. The top ten:
1. "The Lion King," $22.1 million.
2. "Moneyball," $20.6 million.
3. "Dolphin Tale," $20.3 million.
4. "Abduction," $11.2 million.
5. "Killer Elite," $9.5 million.
6. "Contagion," $8.6 million.
7. "Drive," $5.8 million.
8. "The Help," $4.4 million ($1.1 million international).
9. "Straw Dogs," $2.1 million.
10. "I Don't Know How She Does It," $2.05 million.

R.E.M "call it a day" after 31 years, many hits

R.E.M, once dubbed "America's Best Rock & Roll Band," said on Wednesday they had decided to "call it a day" after more than 30 years of generating hits and selling millions of records. Key members of the band, whose hits include "The One I Love" and "Losing My Religion," addressed fans in a posting on their website, thanking them for their loyalty and saying they have astonished even themselves with their accomplishments. "To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. "We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening," the band said in its posting. R.E.M was originally comprised of singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bass player Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry, who suffered a brain aneurysm during the band's 1995 "Monster" tour and subsequently left the group. But even without Berry, the band continued to make records and tour. Overall, R.E.M. have released 15 albums since breaking through the ranks of rock acts in the early 1980s when they became a sensation on the U.S. college circuit singing their hit "Radio Free Europe." Bassist Mills said that while making "Collapse Into Now" and on their recent tour to support the album, the band mates began asking themselves what would come next. They felt that the songs from that record drew "a natural line" between their work as a group and their future as individual artists."We have always been a band in the truest sense of the word. Brothers who truly love, and respect, each other. We feel kind of like pioneers in this -- there's no disharmony here, no falling-outs, no lawyers squaring-off. We've made this decision together, amicably and with each other's best interests at heart. The time just feels right," Mills said.

Jeff Conaway among those omitted from Emmy 'In Memoriam' segment

It seems to happen every year at every awards ceremony: A notable star or Hollywood industry member who recently passed away is left out of the “In Memoriam” segment. This year’s Emmys was no exception, as many were stunned to see that Jeff Conaway, who was best known for his work on the small screen in shows like Taxi, Babylon 5, The Bold and the Beautiful, and, sadly, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, was omitted from the montage that paid tribute to those who died in the past year. Conaway, who passed away on May 27 at the age of 60 due to complications from pneumonia, was among some of the surprising names to be left out of the Emmy “In Memoriam.” In addition to Conaway, Len Lesser, better known as “Uncle Leo” from Seinfeld, was another instantly noticeable snub. In response, the Emmys posted this message on the “In Memoriam” page of their website, “Unfortunately, due to inevitable time limitations, the producers of the telecast are not able to include all of the worthy television professionals who have passed away from year to year. Therefore, in an effort to pay tribute to as many people as possible, the Television Academy created an In Memoriam database on its website, Emmys.tv.” Conaway, Lesser, and another actors omitted from the televised segment, including The Cosby Show‘s Clarice Taylor and The Soup favorite, QVC’s Jeanne Bice, are all listed on the page of the website.

Charlie Sheen Settlement with Warner Bros.
Charlie Sheen will immediately get $25 million in his settlement with Warner Bros. in his "Two and a Half Men" dispute -- but over time he'll get 5 times that amount. Charlie will get the $25 mil in about two weeks and, as we reported, the sum represents the monies owed him for the work he already performed on the series and the profits that have already accrued. But Charlie has shot around 180 episodes for the show, and in the next 7 - 10 years, the settlement will produce $100 million for the actor in syndication profits.

Feds say music label was used as cocaine drop-off station

Documents show that James Rosemond, the founder of Czar Entertainment, a music and management company, is accused of a number of federal crimes between January 1, 2007 and June 21, 2011. The documents show that Rosemond was indicted on 20 counts of drug trafficking, money laundering, firearm charges and obstruction of justice. Rosemond supposedly "directed that his organization hide contraband in 'road cases' used to transport music equipment. In light of Rosemond's position as the CEO of Czar Entertainment … Rosemond was able to disguise these shipments as legitimate freight that was ostensibly needed by the performance artists he managed." The documents said Rosemond sent music cases full of cocaine to music studios in New York, where members of his organization picked up the cocaine for distribution. His underlings, the documents say, then filled the cases with bundles of money -- $100,000 per bundle -- in vacuum-sealed plastic and sent them to Los Angeles. Interscope, owned by Universal Music Group, is not accused of wrongdoing. The label, home to Lady Gaga, Blink-182, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and others, is mentioned in a September 12, 2011 letter from federal prosecutors. The instrument cases were sent through Rock-It Cargo, which specializes in shipping musical instruments and equipment. Rock-It did not own the cases and is not accused of wrongdoing.
