The time is right — Michael Bublé is going to be a dad. The singer-songwriter, 37, and his wife, Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, 25, are expecting their first child, they announced in a video message Thursday. “Mike, Lu and … mini Bublé!!” the clip rolls, opening on an ultrasound image. “We’re having a baby Bublé!”  The couple married in March 2011

J.J. Abrams set to direct new 'Star Wars'

J.J. Abrams is beaming from one franchise to another. The Star Trek Into Darkness director is set to helm the next installment of Star Wars. “As a kid I was always a fan of special effects. Watching movies I was constantly trying to figure out how they did it, whatever the effect was. Star Wars was the first movie that blew my mind in that way; it didn’t matter how they did any of it because it was all so overwhelmingly and entirely great. It was funny and romantic and scary and compelling and the visual effects just served the characters and story. It galvanized for me; not for what was exciting about how movies were made, but rather for what movies were capable of,” Abrams said back in November. (In the same interview, he also denied that he would be directing any Star Wars films.)

 These are not photos for her model portfolio – or for the feint of heart. Lisa D'Amato, who won the all-star cycle of America's Next Top Model in 2011, is recovering from a freak accident that broke her nose in several places and lacerated her forehead, lips and chin. D'Amato, 32, posted graphic pictures on her Facebook and Instagram pages of her cut and swollen face from the accident last week in a Colorado hotel after she wrapped filming of an indie movie called Cowboys and Indians. "We were just kind of monkeying around," she says, explaining that she was doing a handstand up against a crew member when they suddenly took a nasty tumble. D'Amato landed on her face, crushing her nose, and then the crew member fell on top of her, causing more scrapes to D'Amato's face. "It was a totally freak accident," D'Amato says. She was rushed to the emergency room, then sent to another hospital where a plastic surgeon went to work on her nose. "I didn't have the best nose in the world to begin with. It gave me character," she jokes. "Now I have a nice little nose job. I get a super cute nose." Throughout the ordeal, she says, she cracked jokes to put other people at ease – "Everyone seemed so sad," she says – but when left quietly alone, "I looked at my hands. They were covered with blood. That's when I thought, 'Oh, my God, what did I do to myself?' Of course, I started crying." Now recovering, D'Amato says she's about to leave for a belated honeymoon – she and longtime boyfriend Adam Friedman married in September – and will start work on a television pilot.


Bethenny Frankel's Ex Wants Primary Custody of Their Daughter
Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy are not seeing eye to eye as they begin divorce proceedings – most notably because both sides reportedly want primary custody of daughter Bryn. Hoppy has responded to Frankel's divorce petition by demanding from the reality-TV star almost exactly the same things she is demanding from him. Both are seeking primary custody of Bryn, who will be 3 in May, as well as child support from their ex, along with money for other expenses, including insurance. Both sides also want exclusive rights to their marital residence. The Skinnygirl mogul, 42, who first became famous on The Real Housewives of New York City, split with Hoppy late last year after almost three years of marriage. She later said she felt like a failure for not being able to make it work. Hoppy has not commented publicly on the split, and neither his lawyers.
 Marc Anthony and Shannon de Lima have called it quits after dating for more than a year. "Marc is no longer dating model Shannon de Lima," his rep Blanca Lasalle says. "The amicable breakup became official right in mid-January." De Lima and Anthony – who went public with the romance last January on Twitter by calling his model girlfriend "my statue of liberty" – didn't show any sign of discord before their split. Before de Lima, Anthony, 44, was married to Jennifer Lopez for seven years. The couple announced their separation in July, 2011. In a recent cover story, Lopez opened up about her painful split from Anthony, saying it felt like her "whole world fell apart."

Prince Slams Madonna, Maroon 5

He may be famously sparing in his words, but when Prince speaks, he speaks with a purpose. The singer revived some long-standing beef with Madonna in a recent interview with Billboard magazine nearly two years after the pair supposedly cooled off their fiery feud. The 54-year-old singer, who covers the latest issue, speaks a lot about music ownership in the new interview, and at one point even calls the Material Girl out by name when talk turns to his time with Warner Bros. Records. "It was always about Madonna," he tells the magazine, explaining why his relationship with the record label went sour. "She was getting paid, but at the same time we were selling more records and selling out concerts on multiple nights." Prince and Madonna, also 54, famously tussled in the public eye after briefly dating in 1985 and collaborating on Madonna's track "Love Song" from her 1988 album Like a Prayer. "[He] was a little troll," she said during a 1994 interview, recalling one of their earlier dates. "He was just sipping tea, very daintily. I have this theory about people who don't eat. They annoy me. "Prince similarly kept the public feud going several years later, when he snidely compared the number of his chart-topping songs to Madonna’s many children. "I got so many hits y'all can't handle me," he said during a 2007 concert in London. "I got more hits than Madonna's got kids." In the Billboard interview, Prince also takes issue with one of today's biggest pop artists: Maroon 5. The Adam Levine-fronted band featured a recorded version of a cover of Prince’s hit "Kiss" on their 2012 album Overexposed, and the artist formerly known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince was not too pleased.  "Why do we need to hear another cover of a song someone else did?" he quips in the interview, noting that he has no problem with artists performing covers during live shows. "Art is about building a new foundation, not just laying something on top of what's already there." Prince will be honored with the 2013 Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas on May 19.

"Army Wives" is getting some new blood in its upcoming season 7 -- Golden Globe nominee and five-time People's Choice winner Brooke Shields will join the cast of the Lifetime show when it premieres in March. Shields will play the role of Air Force Colonel Katherine "Kat" Young, a pilot described as "brash and brilliant." Tough enough to hold her own in the male-dominated military, Kat will clash with Army General Michael Holden (Brian McNamara) pretty much as soon as she arrives at Joint Base Marshall Bring. Kat and Holden will initially keep up the fight for Air Force and Army dominance, respectively. Once Holden learns about Kat's tragic past, however, the two high-level officers find they have a lot in common.

  Add another guest star with a cryptic character description to this season’s Once Upon a Time. John Pyper-Ferguson has booked a large guest star role on the ABC fairy tale hit. He’ll play Ben, a “widower who wants nothing more than to help his young son heal from the loss of his mother.” See if you can figure out the mythological character being explored there. Ben’s son will be played by previously announced guest star Benjamin Stockham (1600 Penn). They’ll appear in the 17th episode this season.
 NBC is sending Craig Robinson to the head of the class, ordering a single-camera comedy pilot starring The Office vet as a middle school teacher. The untitled project, exec produced by Robinson’s Office boss Greg Daniels, centers on a talented musician (Robinson) who adjusts to his new life as a music teacher, where he maneuvers precocious kids, teacher politics, and the temptations of single moms.


Star Trek vet George Takei will guest-star in The Neighbors’ first season finale.

Rachel Nichols, a reporter with ESPN for nine years, is leaving for sports roles at CNN and Turner Sports. With her new employers, Nichols will anchor a new weekend sports program on CNN beginning later this year and handle a variety of assignments across sports for Turner Sports, including the NBA and Major League Baseball. She also will cover major events such as the Olympics. Her first assignment will be covering the upcoming Super Bowl for CNN.

 
Sean Patrick Flanery will lend Dexter some Indy cred when he plays a major part in the Showtime drama’s upcoming eighth season. The actor formerly known as the title role in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles joins the cabler as Jacob Elroy, a former cop-turned-private eye in Miami. Since playing the young Dr. Jones in the prequel adventure series, Flanery’s TV credits have included The Young and the Restless, CSI, Stephen King’s Dead Zone and Breaking In.

Beyonce Lip-Synch Scandal: She "Didn't Think There Was Anything Wrong" With Using Pre-Recorded Track

Beyonce has had some major ups and down this week. One day after her triumphant rendition of the National Anthem at the Inauguration ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Monday, Jan. 21, a rep for the U.S. Marine Corp Band told several media outlets that the superstar, 31, chose to lip-synch the song over a pre-recorded track at the last minute.  Although the Grammy winner and her team have remained silent about the "Star Spangled Banner" fracas, a source confirmed that she did, in fact, use a backing track for her performance in front of the U.S. Capitol. "She didn't think there was anything wrong with it," the source explains. "Pavarotti has done it! It was freezing out, and if she messed up just one note, that would have been the story." (Even Aretha Franklin, who sang live at the 2009 inauguration, defended Beyonce, noting to ABC, "the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is just not good singing weather.") Continues the source: "Everybody uses these tracks, and the music director advised it. Any big outdoor live performance is almost always with some kind of track." Still, the insider clarifies that Beyonce didn't completely lip-sync the song: "She did sing, but used a track." And is disappointed by the so-called controversy: "A technicality which everybody does took away from the beauty of the moment."

 It’s a boy for Shakira and Gerard Piqué. “We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born Jan. 22nd at 9:36 p.m. in Barcelona, Spain,” the couple announced on Shakira’s website. “The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification. Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.” Milan weighed  6 lbs., 6 oz., and the hospital says that both mother and child are in excellent health. Earlier in the day, the singer-songwriter had requested good thoughts from fans as her son’s delivery approached. “I’d like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life,” Shakira, 35, Tweeted. The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer and her beau, central defender for FC Barcelona, announced the pregnancy in September and the sex of the baby in October. Earlier this month, Piqué, 25, and Shakira celebrated their baby shower, with all proceeds benefitting UNICEF.

Manti Te'o Tells Katie Couric He Briefly Lied About Girlfriend After Hoax Discovery

Manti Te'o briefly lied to the media and the public after discovering his online girlfriend did not exist and was a part of an elaborate hoax, he admitted in an exclusive interview with ABC News' Katie Couric.  The star Notre Dame linebacker, who has been hounded by the reporters since the story broke Jan. 16, told Couric in a taped interview Tuesday that he was not lying up until December. Te'o said he was duped into believing his online girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, died of cancer.  "You stuck to the script. And you knew that something was amiss, Manti," Couric said.  Te'o found out that Kekua was a hoax on Dec. 6, but on Dec. 8 he again publicly mentioned his girlfriend. The remark came as Te'o was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, the award for the best college football player in the country. Te'o was eventually a runner-up for the trophy.  "Katie, put yourself in my situation. I, my whole world told me that she died on Sept. 12. Everybody knew that. This girl, who I committed myself to, died on Sept. 12," Te'o said.  "Now I get a phone call on Dec. 6, saying that she's alive and then I'm going be put on national TV two days later. And to ask me about the same question. You know, what would you do?" Te'o said. Te'o, 21, was joined by his parents, Brian and Ottilia, in the interview.  "Now many people writing about this are calling your son a liar. They are saying he manipulated the truth, really for personal gain," Couric said to Te'o's father. "People can speculate about what they think he is. I've known him 21 years of his life. And he's not a liar. He's a kid," Brian Te'o said with tears in his eyes. Diane O'Meara told NBC's "Today" show Tuesday that she was used as the "face" of the Twitter account of Manti Te'o's online girlfriend without her knowledge or consent. O'Meara said that Ronaiah Tuiasosopo used pictures of her without her knowledge in creating Kekua. "I've never met Manti Te'o in my entire life. I've never spoke with him. I've never exchanged words with him," O'Meara said Tuesday. The 23-year-old marketing executive went to high school in California with Tuiasosopo, but she says they're not close. Tuiasosopo called to apologize the day Deadspin.com broke the hoax story, she said. In an interview with ESPN last week, Te'o said he had received a Twitter message from Tuiasosopo apologizing for the hoax. The Hawaiian also spoke to Tuiasosopo on the phone the day the Deadspin report came out, according to ESPN.com. He found out that "two guys and a girl are responsible for the whole thing," he said. But he did not know the identities of the other individuals involved, other than the man he says was Tuiasosopo. Tuiasosopo, a 22-year-old resident of California, has not admitted involvement publicly. Tuiasosopo graduated from Paraclete High School in Lancaster, Calif., in 2007 and has posted dozens of videos online singing Christian songs.

  Kelly Osbourne is absolutely gaga over her boyfriend-turned-fiance Matthew Mosshart. The E! "Fashion Police" co-host, 28, and Mosshart, 29, quietly got engaged just a few weeks before Christmas, sources close to the couple confirmed. Mosshart is a began baker.

 Luna Thurman-Busson looks on quizzically as papa Arpad Busson blows her kisses while waiting for a flight Tuesday in Paris. The 6-month-old‘s mom, actress Uma Thurman, recently shared that her daughter actually goes by a derivitive of her many middle names — with five monikers in all, it’s just too long to recite the whole thing! “[My 14-year-old daughter Maya] came up with the best excuse, [which] was that I probably wouldn’t get to have any more children, so I just put every name that I liked into it,” Thurman, 42, told Jimmy Fallon of their choice of Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence. “We couldn’t quite agree.”


The Last of Robin Hood
Dakota Fanning is set to play Kevin Kline‘s teenage girlfriend in the true Hollywood story "The Last Of Robin Hood." The film chronicles the final years of Tasmanian actor Errol Flynn‘s life with Kline portraying the swashbuckling screen icon.  Fanning will play 17 year-old actress Beverly Aadland, who was by Flynn’s side when he died at the age of 50 in 1959.  Susan Sarandon is also attached as Beverly's mother Florence who wrote the 1961 book "The Big Love" which accused Flynn of starting a sexual relationship with her then 15 year-old daughter Beverly. Beverly later confirmed the claims.

Rosario Dawson has joined the cast of Atom Egoyan’s thriller "Queen of the Night." Ryan Reynolds stars as the father of an abducted daughter who uncovers a series of disturbing clues eight years later that suggest she is still alive. Dawson will play the detective in charge of the investigation.


Freezer
Peter Facinelli ("Twilight") and Yuliya Snigir ("A Good Day to Die Hard") will join Dylan McDermott in Mikael Salomon's action thriller "Freezer" at Envision Media Arts. Shooting begins this month in Edmonton, Canada. McDermott plays an average man who awakens to find himself locked in an industrial freezer by Russian thugs who insist he returns the $8 million dollars he stole from them. The trouble is he has no idea what they are talking about.
  A TV surprise saw comedian Steve Harvey breakdown in tears on the long-running game show Family Feud this week. The legendary American comedian showed his emotional side after taking an unexpected call during the show’s taping as part of his birthday special (he turned 56 on January 17, 2013). Producers cut to a call via satellite, with a man appearing on-screen and wishing Harvey a happy birthday. It caused Harvey to whisper “Aw, man” before pacing the stage. “This is Rich Liss from Orlando, Florida,” the man said. “Do you still love me, baby?” Harvey was seen bending over, choking back sobs and trying to compose himself for a few moments. “Hey, man,” he finally said, before adding, “I love you.” It turns out Rich and his wife Becky were early supporters of Harvey when he was an aspiring comedian running a fledging carpet cleaning business. They stuck by him while he tried to break into the tough comedy world, something Harvey has never forgotten, “I was struggling…I didn't have nothing. And these people... took me in.” Harvey rose to become one of the most popular actors in America, as well as a best-selling author and television personality.


Voice actor for Charlie Brown arrested
Authorities in California say the voice actor who portrayed Charlie Brown in many "Peanuts" shows was arrested on charges that include stalking. The 56-year-old is set to be arraigned Wednesday on counts of making a threat to cause death or great bodily injury and stalking. His manager has declined to comment. Robbins was the voice of Charlie Brown for TV specials, "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."
 Larry Hagman's tragic passing on Nov. 24 served a double blow to the cast and crew of TNT's "Dallas." Not only had they lost a dear friend, but they also had to come up with a way to write J.R. Ewing off the show without derailing their planned storylines. This season's storyline will take a page from the series' most iconic moment, and have J.R. Ewing murdered by an unknown assailant towards the middle of the show's upcoming second season. This, of course, pays homage to the "Who Shot J.R.?" cliffhanger from Dallas' 1980 season finale. The ensuring storm of speculation that swirled throughout the subsequent summer led to the highest-rated TV episode in U.S. history at the time, with an estimated 83 million people tuning in for the season premiere, "Who Done It?" -- which was higher than the number of voters in that year's presidential election. The new season of "Dallas" premieres Jan. 28 on TNT.
 Chely Wright is about to be a mom — times two! The country singer, 42, is expecting identical twins with her wife Lauren Blitzer-Wright. The couple announced the news Wednesday. Wright met her future wife, 31, just two weeks after coming out in May 2010, and the couple tied the knot in an August 2011 homespun ceremony in Connecticut.

"Mad Men" will return to screens this April. The critically adored, relentlessly blogged about, frequently awarded AMC show will kick off a sixth season of alcoholism, infidelity and advertising accounts with a special two-hour premiere on April 14 at 9 p.m.  Following the premiere, "Mad Men" will return to its regular time slot at 10 p.m. with an episode written by Jonathan Igla and Weiner, and directed by star Jon Hamm.


BBC America have announced a March 30th premiere date in the U.S. for the second half of the seventh season of "Doctor Who." The U.K. premiere date has also been confirmed for the same day.


It was never all that likely that Steve Carell would make a return appearance on "The Office" before the show ended, but absent a definitive word from Carell or the show, speculation continued. Carell has pretty well shut that down now, explaining that he doesn't think Michael Scott coming back to Scranton would make much sense.  "I just didn't think it was right for the character," Carell said at Sundance, where his movie "The Way, Way Back" premiered this week. "That character had an arc within the story, and kind of grew and sort of evolved past the idea of the documentary." "Office" executive producer Greg Daniels said as much in a press conference last week, noting that "Steve is very much of the opinion that the 'Goodbye, Michael' episode and the story arc he did leading up to it was his goodbye to the show."

Adele is returning to the stage for the first time since becoming a mom, to sing her James Bond theme song "Skyfall" at the upcoming Academy Awards. The singer, who gave birth to a son in October, is nominated in the Best Original Song category for "Skyfall," and she will be at the Los Angeles ceremony in person to perform it on February 24.


The b---- in Apartment 23 has been evicted. ABC has pulled the comedy "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23" from its Tuesday night schedule. It is not yet known when the remaining eight episodes of the comedy will run. The two-hour series premiere of "The Taste" will air in its 9:30 p.m. time slot this Tuesday.


"American Horror Story" co-creator Ryan Murphy says that first season cast member Taissa Farmiga is in talks for season three. Murphy says the part is one of the leads in the season.


"The Newsroom" has found new representation. Aaron Sorkin's HBO drama has cast  Marcia Gay Harden in the role of attorney Rebecca Halliday, an attorney who represents Atlantis Cable News against a wrongful-termination lawsuit.  Harden, who has appeared on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Body of Proof," is replacing "United States of Tara" star Rosemarie DeWitt, who had to bow out of the series after filming two episodes due to scheduling conflicts. DeWitt's scenes will be re-filmed with Harden in her place. The second season of "The Newsroom" will premiere in the summer.


Fox is pulling Ben and Kate from its schedule. Fox says the remaining Ben and Kate episodes will air at some point (there are six left). Given Ben and Kate‘s ratings, the move wasn’t a surprise (if anything, some were shocked the show received an order for additional episodes last fall). Doubling up on Hope through February will make room for the return of Hell’s Kitchen, which will launch March 12 at 8 p.m. and lead into New Girl and The Mindy Project.

Wes Welker’s wife rips Ray Lewis after Ravens beat Patriots

The Baltimore Ravens defeated the New England Patriots to punch their ticket to Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday night, but the conclusion of the game has not resulted in the conclusion of smack talk. Terrell Suggs blasted the Patriots after the game and seemed beyond thrilled to knock them out of the postseason. Bernard Pollard ripped Tom Brady for sliding into Ed Reed with his cleats high. On the New England side, it’s once again the wives who are doing the talking.  Although she was a singles figure skater throughout her successful career, Michelle Kwan did have one steadfast partner on the ice – fashion designer Vera Wang. "I wore so many skating dresses designed by her, whole skating shows and everything," Kwan, 32, says. "I have a long relationship with her." And that made picking a wedding dress designer a fairly easy decision. For Kwan's Rhode Island nuptials on Jan. 19 to Clay Pell, 31, Wang put plenty of consideration into her creation. "She is marrying someone whose family has a political history, and Michelle is living and working in Washington, D.C.," the designer says. "[The dress] had to have a certain dignity and a certain classicism, and I think it was a lot about a new way of looking at tradition." So Wang created an ivory, strapless mermaid gown for Kwan, made with layers of silk organza and featuring lace appliqué.


Blockbuster closing 300 more stores
Dish Network Corp. says it plans to close about 300 Blockbuster stores across the country, losing about 3,000 employees. Company spokesman said on Monday that the closures will leave about 500 Blockbuster locations in the U.S. Blockbuster is owned by Dish Network. Dish Network last year also shuttered about 500 underperforming Blockbuster locations. Hall says the stores that will be closed in coming weeks are either underperforming or nearing the end of their leases. "There have been store closures" in the past, Hall told The Denver Post.. "Really, from the time of acquisition there has been a strategy to evaluate stores on a case-by-case basis in an effort to look at their production." He says the 3,000 employees were informed about the latest closures on Friday. The store locations have not been announced. Colorado-based Dish Network in March 2011 bought the then-bankrupt video rental chain for $320 million. It plans to move Blockbusters' headquarters from Texas to Colorado's Douglas County.


Stones out, The Postal Service in
The Coachella lineup has yet to be announced but two of the biggest rumors surrounding the festival were addressed today. The first rumor, involves the possibility of The Rolling Stones headlining the six-day, two-weekend event. Unfortunately, that rumor is not true. Mick Jagger told the NME: "We're not gonna do Coachella 'cause it's too early. There was a rumor we were gonna do that one, but it's very early, Coachella. It's April or something, isn't it? And we're not gonna be ready to go by April." The other popular rumor, which was reported earlier this year, is that The Postal Service will reunite and perform at the Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif. That rumor, is 100 percent true. Billboard reports that Sub Pop Records is prepping a deluxe 10-year anniversary edition of the band's lone album "Give Up" and that the band will play Coachella and is considering a tour that would include other festival dates. The official Coachella lineup has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be revealed soon. Last year the festival's lineup was announced in Jan. 9.
 Country star Brantley Gilbert received the best gift ever in the form of an enthusiastic "Yes!" when girlfriend, One Tree Hill actress and country singer Jana Kramer, accepted his proposal of marriage in Nashville on Sunday, his 28th birthday. The couple, who are both nominated in the best new vocalist categories at this year's ACM awards have been dating about a year.

Prince Harry: I Let Down My Family, My Friends, Myself in Photo Scandal

Prince Harry might know just what went wrong in last August's photo scandal involving his naked antics in Las Vegas. "It was probably a classic example of me probably being too much army, and not enough prince. It's a simple case of that," he said during an interview at his military base in Afghanistan. Harry, 28, was partying in the hotspot just before he was deployed to Afghanistan, when embarrassing photographs of him were released. "At the end of the day I probably let myself down, I let my family down, I let other people down," he said.  Robert F. Chew, best known for his role on the hit HBO show The Wire, has died from heart failure. He was 52. Chew, who played Proposition Joe on the cable show, passed away in his sleep on Thursday at his home in Baltimore, his sister Clarise Chew said. The show's creator, David Simon, sent a lengthy email to The Baltimore Sun praising Chew's work as an actor and his dedication to his community. "Robert was not only an exceptional actor, he was an essential part of the film and theater community in Baltimore," wrote David Simon. "He could have gone to New York or Los Angeles and commanded a lot more work, but he loved the city as his home and chose to remain here working." Chew, a member of the local Arena Players theater troupe, mentored children and aspiring actors, and even facilitated bringing a group of 22 young actors to play students on The Wire's fourth season.

Barbara Walters Hospitalized After Fall
Veteran ABC newswoman Barbara Walters has fallen at an inauguration party in Washington and has been hospitalized. ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider says the 83-year-old Walters fell Saturday night on a step at the residence of Britain’s ambassador to the United States, Peter Westmacott. The fall left Walters with a cut on her forehead. Schneider said Sunday “out of an abundance of caution” Walters went to a hospital for treatment of the cut and for a full examination. He says Walters is alert “and telling everyone what to do,” which is “a very positive sign.” It’s unclear when Walters might be released from the hospital, which ABC hasn’t identified. Walters was TV news’ first female superstar, making headlines in 1976 as a network anchor with an unprecedented $1 million annual salary.

Manti Te'o to talk to Katie Couric

Manti Te’o, the Notre Dame football player who discovered that the girlfriend whose death he mourned never actually existed, will sit down with Katie Couric for an interview airing Thursday, Jan. 24, on her syndicated daytime talk show Katie. His parents, Brian and Ottilia Te’o, will also be interviewed about the hoax, which has captured headlines and raised questions as to whether the linebacker, a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, was even in on the story himself.

Alleged mastermind may tell his story

The person cast as the mastermind of the hoax involving Notre Dame's Manti Te'o may tell his side of the story, a family member said. Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, uncle of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, says the family plans to hold a meeting this week to determine when and how his nephew would talk about the bizarre prank. ''We want to do it right,'' he said, also noting that the family has hired an attorney. He never directly mentioned the hoax or his nephew being involved. Te'o insisted he had no role in the hoax involving his ''dead'' girlfriend and told ESPN on Friday night that he was duped by a person who has since apologized to him. In an off-camera interview, Te'o identified that person as Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, a 22-year-old acquaintance who lives in California. He said the young man contacted him soon after Deadpsin.com broke the news on Wednesday. The Deadspin story indicated Ronaiah Tuiasosopo was involved, and suggested Te'o was, too. ''We're just a family of faith. The family is holding up well,'' Peter Navy Tuiasosopo said. ''They're holding up the way I would expect a family to. This is a storm.'' He made the comments after attending a two-hour service at the Oasis Christian Church, where his brother, who is Ronaiah's father, is pastor.
 At the end of her bronze-medal finish at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games, nine-time U.S. national figure skating champion and five-time world champion Michelle Kwan skated to "Fields of Gold" as her Olympic swan song. On Saturday, Jan. 19, signaling a new beginning, she incorporated that same melody into her wedding program. Kwan, 32, married Clay Pell, 31, director for strategic planning on the National Security staff at the White House, on Saturday at the First Unitarian Church of Providence, R.I. Pell, a JAG and Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard, was dressed in full uniform for the ceremony. Kwan, who cried while walking down the aisle with her father, Danny Kwan, wore an ivoryVera Wang gown. Before 240 family and friends, including Olympic champions Brian Boitano, Dick Button and Dorothy Hamill, the two shared their self-written vows. Kwan, is now a senior advisor for public diplomacy and public affairs.

Allen Iverson to Pay $3 Million for Divorce

Former NBA star Allen Iverson finally struck a deal in his bitter divorce battle with his estranged wife and all it took was a cool $3 MILLION to bury the hatchet. Iverson and Tawanna -- who married in 2001 -- informed a judge last week they had reached a financial settlement outside of court in their ongoing divorce case days before the two were set to go to trial. As part of the deal, the NBA legend agreed to pay Tawanna $3 million, paid out as a large lump sum. Iverson also agreed to fork over various assets and a percentage of his future Reebok endorsement deal checks. He'll also continue to pay up child support payments for the duo's five kids. Iverson, scored the couple's GA mansion (which is currently facing foreclosure) and gets to keep his primo ride, a Maybach, as well as other personal belongings.  The settlement comes after a brutal year-long fight between the former lovers ... which included allegations of infidelity, hiding money, and petitions for restraining orders.

 Tom Arnold and his wife, Ashley Groussman, are expecting their first child – a baby boy! The 53-year-old actor shared the happy news while co-hosting “The View” on Friday, adding that he’s overwhelmed with joy over finally becoming a father. “We’re really happy. I didn’t think it was in the cards for me, I’ll be honest, and so I was completely shocked,” he said. “It’s a miracle.” Tom married Ashley, 37, (his fourth marriage) in 2009, and told the ladies of “The View” he suffers from “a very low sperm count,” which has caused fertility struggles in all of his relationships. “It is hard on the women,” he said. “I’ve tried [to have kids] with other people, but since there is a God we were unable to conceive. Now God said, ‘This is it!’”

Mathew Knowles Baby Mama Sues for More Money

Beyonce's dad Mathew Knowles emailed an ominous threat to the mother of his 2-year-old son -- or so the woman claims, and now she's gunning for him in court. Knowles' baby mama Alexsandra Wright filed legal docs, asking the family court judge to up her child support to cover expenses for security to protect their kid.  Mathew is currently on the hook for $12k a month. Wright claims she needs security because of a "threatening" email Knowles sent her back in September 2011, in which he wrote, "You hurt my family. There's a price to pay."  Wright also wants additional dough to cover expenses for a secure, private school. Knowles says he faithfully pays child support, adding the only reason he hasn't paid expenses for schooling is because they haven't agreed on the school. Knowles thinks Wright's latest legal move could backfire because his income has drastically decreased since the original order was issued.  Beyonce gave him walking papers in 2011. Knowles believes the judge should actually reduce his monthly payments.

 In a bohemian-style wedding Saturday afternoon, Big Brother alums Dominic Briones and Daniele Donato tied the knot at the Newland House Museum in Huntington Beach, Calif. The couple met while filming CBS's Big Brother 13 in the summer of 2011. She was a returning contestant; he, a newbie. "Truth be told, I really didn't like him at first," she says with a laugh. "I thought he was a little troublemaker. But we became friends, and although I didn't like him like that, it just grew." She adds, "After the finale, we became inseparable. We got to know each other really well, and we fell in love!"

Alicia Keys is adding her voice to the Super Bowl show. The Grammy-winning R&B singer has been lined up to perform the national anthem before the NFL championship game on Feb. 3 in New Orleans, a person familiar with Super Bowl entertainment plans told The Associated Press.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has joined CBS News as a contributor. CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager and president David Rhodes say Rice “will use her insight and vast experience to explore issues facing America at home and abroad.” Rice served as secretary of state during President George W. Bush’s second term. She was the first African-American woman to hold the post.


Another familiar face will soon be seen on ABC’s “Happy Endings.” Andy Richter, aka Conan O’Brien’s right-hand man, will guest star on the sitcom as Roy, father to Penny Hartz (played by “Saturday Night Live” alum Casey Wilson).


Prince will be honored with an Icon Award during the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. This year’s show will be broadcast live May 19 on ABC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

 "Dear Abby" columnist Pauline Phillips, who starting in 1956 under the pen name Abigail Van Buren began giving some 90 million newspaper readers advice on everything from Civil Rights to dating, died Wednesday in Minneapolis, said a family spokesperson. She was 94. For years Phillips had suffered with Alzheimer's disease, the first signs of which began showing in the mid-1990s. By then, she and Jeanne were writing the column together, until such time in 2002 that Pauline could no longer handle the task and Jeanne took over the family's advice business completely. Among the many remarkable facts about Phillips (who took the name Abigail from the Bible and the surname from President Martin Van Buren) is that her identical twin sister, Esther "Eppie" Lederer, was in the same line of work – as columnist Ann Landers. Phillips began her career when she was a 37-year-old housewife, having contacted the editors of the San Francisco Chronicle to tell them she could do better with their advice column. Her first byline appeared Jan. 9, 1956. "They gave her a bunch of letters, thinking that, that they would never see her again – and she immediately took all of the letters to my dad's nearby office and whipped out answers and had answers back the same day. That knocked them off their feet," her son, Eddie Phillips, said. Abigail Van Buren dispensed her words of wisdom for the next 40 years, in more than 1,200 newspapers worldwide – and often addressed sensitive issues that people were afraid to bring up at their own dinner tables. Her style was benevolent but sometimes tough. Readers of her column knew they had to stand on their own two feet, and have the backbone to stand up to very strong convictions. And, always, she championed human rights above all else. As Dear Abby professed in 1964 and which still holds true today: "The purpose of life is to amount to something and have it make some difference that you lived at all." In addition to her devoted readers and, according to the family spokesperson, the millions of friends she made in her lifetime, Phillips is survived by her two children, her husband of 73 years Mort Phillips, four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Our Kind Of Traitor
Ewan McGregor has scored the unspecified lead role in "Snowtown" director Justin Kurzel's adaptation of John Le Carré's "Our Kind Of Traitor." Hossein Amini ("Drive," "Snow White and the Huntsman") penned the script. The story follows an English couple who gets mixed up with a Russian oligarch and major money launderer. Caught up in his plans to defect, they are soon positioned between the Russian Mafia and the British Secret Service.
 It’s a boy for Amanda Righetti! The Mentalist star, 29, and her husband Jordan Alan welcomed their first child, son Knox Addison Alan, on Thursday, Jan. 10, her rep confirmed. Righetti and Alan, 45, producer/director of Cats Dancing on Jupiter and Kiss and Tell, announced the pregnancy in August.  In addition to her current role as Grace on the CBS show, Righetti is also known for her work on Reunion and The O.C., as well as roles in Friday the 13th and Captain America: The First Avenger. The couple married in April 2006 in Hawaii.

Black Nativity
Tyrese Gibson has joined the cast of Kasi Lemmons' musical "Black Nativity" at Fox Searchlight Pictures. Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett and Jennifer Hudson also star. The story follows a teenage boy from Baltimore who is sent by his single mother to Harlem to spend Christmas with the grandparents he's never met.

Hercules Gets a Release Date
Brett Ratner’s Hercules adaptation (based on the “Hercules: The Thracian Wars” comic book) is coming together this year, with (former) Scorpion King Dwayne Johnson starring. The project was stalled in early development for a while, before Ratner skipped out on directing the Conan the Barbarian reboot and picked up this mythological ancient world blockbuster instead. Back in 2012, reports began circulating that Paramount and MGM want Hercules to begin lensing this year. The studios has pencilled in a Summer 2014 release date, confirming the Johnson vehicle will come right after the five movies featuring ‘The Rock’ hitting theaters this year. Hercules opens on August 8th, 2014.
 Former NFLer and now sportscaster, Ahmad Rashad and his wife Sale Johnson, a society matron in Palm Beach (Fla.), are said to be quietly negotiating a divorce settlement before they go public and file later this year. If you didn’t know, Rashad and Johnson, a former fashion model and heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune, have been married since 2005. Rashad & Johnson, who share a $5 million home in the luxurious Bears Club in Jupiter, have been living apart for several months and want to work out some financial differences quietly before filing, according to several sources. Sale is believed to have received more than $100 million in her split from Johnson in 2002 and is richer than the 63-year-old Rashad, a former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver and former host of “The NBA on NBC.”  Rashad, who now works for NBA TV, worth is in the $8 million range. Reports say Johnson has grown weary of Rashad’s friendship with soon-to-be Bears Club neighbor and NBA great Michael Jordan and golfer Tiger Woods, who lives in nearby Jupiter Island.

Lance to Oprah: I used PEDs

He did it. He finally admitted it. Lance Armstrong doped. He was light on the details and didn't name names. He mused that he might not have been caught if not for his comeback in 2009. And he was certain his ''fate was sealed'' when longtime friend, training partner and trusted lieutenant George Hincapie, who was along for the ride on all seven of Armstrong's Tour de France wins from 1999-2005, was forced to give him up to anti-doping authorities. But right from the start and more than two dozen times during the first of a two-part interview Thursday night with Oprah Winfrey on her OWN network, the disgraced former cycling champion acknowledged what he had lied about repeatedly for years, and what had been one of the worst-kept secrets for the better part of a week: He was the ringleader of an elaborate doping scheme on a U.S. Postal Service team that swept him to the top of the podium at the Tour de France time after time.''I'm a flawed character,'' he said. Did it feel wrong? ''No,'' Armstrong replied. ''Scary.'' ''Did you feel bad about it?'' Winfrey pressed him. ''No,'' he said. ''Even scarier.'' ''Did you feel in any way that you were cheating?'' ''No,'' Armstrong paused. ''Scariest.'' ''I went and looked up the definition of cheat,'' he added a moment later. ''And the definition is to gain an advantage on a rival or foe. I didn't view it that way. I viewed it as a level playing field.''  He dodged few questions and refused to implicate anyone else, even as he said it was humanly impossible to win seven straight Tours without doping. ''I'm not comfortable talking about other people,'' Armstrong said. ''I don't want to accuse anybody.'' Whether his televised confession will help or hurt Armstrong's bruised reputation and his already-tenuous defense in at least two pending lawsuits, and possibly a third, remains to be seen. Either way, a story that seemed too good to be true - cancer survivor returns to win one of sport's most grueling events seven times in a row - was revealed to be just that. ''This story was so perfect for so long. It's this myth, this perfect story, and it wasn't true,'' he said. Winfrey got right to the point when the interview began, asking for yes-or-no answers to five questions. Did Armstrong take banned substances? ''Yes.'' Did that include the blood-booster EPO? ''Yes.'' Did he do blood doping and use transfusions? ''Yes.''  Did he use testosterone, cortisone and human growth hormone? ''Yes.'' Did he take banned substances or blood dope in all his Tour wins? ''Yes.''  In his climb to the top, Armstrong cast aside teammates who questioned his tactics, yet swore he raced clean and tried to silence anyone who said otherwise. Ruthless and rich enough to settle any score, no place seemed beyond his reach - courtrooms, the court of public opinion, even along the roads of his sport's most prestigious race. That relentless pursuit was one of the things that Armstrong said he regretted most. ''I deserve this,'' he said twice. ''That defiance, that attitude, that arrogance, you cannot deny it.'' Armstrong said he started doping in mid-1990s but didn't when he finished third in his comeback attempt. Anti-doping officials have said nothing short of a confession under oath - ''not talking to a talk-show host,'' is how World Anti-Doping Agency director general David Howman put it - could prompt a reconsideration of Armstrong's lifetime ban from sanctioned events.
 With a new single about to drop, a solo album in the works and a starring role in a national tour of a Broadway musical, you'd be hard-pressed to tell that Michelle Williams once had difficulty just getting out of bed. The singer-actress — one third of Destiny's Child alongside Beyonce and Kelly Rowland — said that in the past few months she has emerged from years of suffering from moderate depression. Her dark cloud lifted thanks to exercise, therapy and positive thinking. "I've dealt with depression," the 32-year-old said during a break in rehearsals for a new touring production of "Fela!" that kicks off later this month. "I had to choose to get out of bed and do whatever I needed to do to be happy." Williams says she suffered her first bout of depression at 15 or 16 and has managed to avoid medication. She is speaking out for the first time about her battle to encourage others to seek help. "We're taught, 'Just go to church and pray about it. The Lord is going to heal you.' Well, in the meantime, I believe God-gifted people, physicians, doctors, therapists — that's your healing. Take advantage of it," she said. "Go see a professional so that they can assess you. It's OK if you're going through something. Depression is not OK, but it is OK to go get help."  Williams will be playing the role of Sandra Isadore, who was Fela's African-American lover. Maija Garcia, the tour director and choreographer, said the presence of a Destiny's Child member in the cast "empowers the musical." The show, which made it to Broadway in 2009, is set for a 16-city tour starting at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 29. By the time summer rolls around, it will have visited Miami, Atlanta, Cleveland, Dallas, Los Angeles, Seattle and Nashville, Tenn. Williams is looking forward to cheese steaks — extra provolone, please — and fabulous food on the road. "I know it doesn't look like I eat — I'm just blessed with a high metabolism right now," she said. "I'm having a time trying to gain weight." The Jan. 29 date is important to Williams for another reason. That's when Destiny's Child releases "Love Songs," a collection of previously released songs as well as a new track co-written by Williams, "Nuclear," the group's first new recording since 2004.

Ryan Leaf moved to state prison

Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf is in prison after threatening a staffer and violating his therapeutic plan at a drug treatment center. Leaf was serving nine months of a five-year sentence at the Nexus Treatment Center after pleading guilty to burglary and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.Montana Department of Corrections documents released Thursday say Leaf told his roommate he wanted to drag a program staffer by his hair. Leaf also wrote that he wanted to throw the staffer against the wall and smash his glass into the man's head. Adult Community Corrections Division administrator Pam Bunke writes Leaf was too great a security risk to leave in a community setting. A disciplinary hearing was held Jan. 9. A hearings officer found him guilty and said Leaf is not right for a therapeutic environment.
 It’s no secret that with the success of Dr. Dre's Beats line, boutique headphones are seriously in style nowadays, and even Tim Tebow is getting in on the game. On Thursday Tebow officially launched his signature series of headphones at the 2013 International CES conference in Las Vegas, according to Mashable. The headphones are a collaboration between Tebow and Soul Electronics, a company founded by rapper Ludacris. Among the available items under Tebow’s line are the Combat+, which has noise-cancelling properties but is designed for athletes and heavy stress. However, another series of headphones might raise some eyebrows coming from Tebow, as the quarterback has named his headphones designed for airplane travel “Jet.” In fact, a spokesman for the company jokes that the airplane series might not be known as Jet for “too much longer — we might change the name,” to which Tebow also reportedly laughed. Although the official release was Thursday, Tebow has been making the promotional rounds lately, as a spokesman for the Soul’s flagship series of headphones. Ludacris, himself, recently posted a picture to Instagram with him and Tebow buddying up in Las Vegas.

Inspired by the true story of Mackenzie Green, the show chronicles the tales of a bounty hunter who relies on unconventional methods to get the job done.


Franklin & Bash, meet your new boss. Melrose Place alumna Heather Locklear has joined the TNT dramedy for Season 3 as a series regular.

Body of Proof‘s revamped third season has been pushed back — but just a smidge. The Dana Delany-starring drama, which was originally slated to premiere Tuesday, Feb. 5, will now launch two weeks later on Feb. 19 at 10/9c.


Lifetime is not moving forward with its Kim Raver-starring drama pilot The Secret Lives of Wives. The project centered on the marriages of four women.

 Actor Conrad Bain, who played father Phillip Drummond on “Diff’rent Strokes,” died Monday night in Livermore, Calif. His daughter told The Associated Press that Bain died of natural causes. He was 89.  Bain became a household name starring opposite Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges on the iconic 1980s series. Coleman and Bridges played two brothers from Harlem, who are taken in by Bain’s character to live with him and his daughter, played by Dana Plato, on Manhattan’s Park Avenue. Bain, who hailed from Canada, played conservative neighbor Dr. Arthur Harmon on the feminist sitcom “Maude” before starring on “Diff’rent Strokes,” which debuted in 1978. He also was a journeyman actor on stage, screen and television. After “Diff’rent Strokes” ended in 1986, he virtually retired from acting, reprising his role as Drummond in the 1996 series finale of the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air.” He is survived by three sons and one daughter and a twin brother, Bonar Bain, also an actor.
 Last year, things were looking up for Mindy McCready after a judge awarded her custody of her 6-year-old son, Zander. "It was good news," her rep, Kat Atwood, says. "The custody battle was over. Zander was comfortable at home with Mindy. She had a new baby. Things were going well." But everything fell apart for McCready on Sunday night, when her partner, David Wilson, shot himself. "It was a self-inflicted gunshot wound," Atwood says. "Now they're working on funeral arrangements and figuring out where to go from here." For the first 24 hours after the shooting, McCready, 37, was alone with her children. (She and Wilson had a 9-month-old son, Zayne.) "Her family drove up from Florida," says Atwood. "I'm not exactly sure when they got there, but her personal friends arrived late last night." This marks the latest setback in the troubled life of McCready, who has struggled with custody battles, addiction and her own suicide attempts. Those close to her hope that the love of family and friends will help her through this difficult ordeal. "She is surrounded by people who love her and are there for her," says Atwood. "It's a very sad time, but she has support in place."
 Engagement buzz has been building around "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kandi Burruss and her line producer beau, Todd Tucker, ever since the two debuted their relationship on the fifth season of her Bravo reality series. Tucker, 39, popped the question on New Year's Day, during a New Year's celebration with friends at the couple's home in Atlanta. (Among the party guests was fellow Atlanta "Housewife" Phaedra Parks, who's currently expecting her second child with husband Apollo Nida.) After talking it over with Burruss' daughter, 10-year-old Riley -- who gave him her blessing -- he got down on one knee and proposed to his love of more than a year with a two-carat diamond sparkler by Gregg Ruth. The happy couple already have two dates in mind for their big day, but they're still working out a lot of the other details, including whether the wedding will be filmed for "The Real Housewives."

Born at 6:40 p.m., Elijah weighed in at 8 lbs., 4 oz. John and Furnish, who married in 2005, are already parents to son Zachary Jackson Levon, 2.

'Die Hard' director John McTiernan headed to prison

John McTiernan, director of action films "Die Hard" and "The Hunt for Red October," has lost his bid for the U.S. Supreme Court to review his one-year prison sentence for perjury and lying to the FBI. This could clear the way for McTiernan to begin serving his prison term in a wiretapping case, reports Reuters. Prosecutors accused McTiernan of lying about having hired former private detective Anthony Pellicano in order to wiretape film producer Chuck Roven. McTiernan initially pleaded guilty after the FBI obtained a recording of the two men discussing the wiretap, but later withdrew his guilty plea. After a second indictment, McTiernan entered a conditional guilty plea allowing him to appeal but his appeal has been rejected by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and will not be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court, which means McTiernan is expected to start serving his prison sentence. Pellicano is already serving a prison sentence of 15 years for racketeering, conspiracy and wiretapping.

Nev Schulman, the star of the documentary "Catfish" and host of the similarly named TV show on MTV, says he will be working on the Manti Te'o girlfriend hoax story.  "Catfishing," is about to enter the American lexicon thanks to Wednesday's affairs. The name refers to the practice of someone who creates a fake identity to deceive another person for purposes of an online relationship. Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick referenced the term when defending Te'o as a victim in the alleged hoax. Schulman hosts "Catfish: The TV Show," in which he gets two people who have forged an online relationship to meet for the first time to see if one has been fooled or not.

Katherine Webb will cover Super Bowl for “Inside Edition”

The beauty pageant queen who shot to social media stardom during the BCS championship will be back in front of the cameras ahead of the NFL's title game. Former Miss Alabama USA Katherine Webb will serve as a correspondent for ''Inside Edition'' leading up to next month's Super Bowl in New Orleans. The girlfriend of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, Webb became a star when ESPN's cameras lingered on her during the Crimson Tide's rout of Notre Dame on Jan. 7 and announcer Brent Musburger commented on her looks. Webb calls the temporary job ''an honor and a dream come true.'' She says she'll ''give fans an insider's look at what goes on as the teams prepare to battle and as the fans get ready to cheer on their favorites.'' The show said Wednesday she'll start work Jan. 28. ''Inside Edition'' is syndicated by CBS Television Distribution but not part of CBS' coverage of the Super Bowl, which Webb won't be involved with.

 Actor Victor Garber, who played Jack Bristow on Alias and the shipbuilder Thomas Andrews in Titanic, confirmed this week what he thought people already knew. Yes, he is gay. "I don't really talk about it, but everybody knows," Garber, 63 said. The actor, who has been nominated for six Emmy Awards, including three for Alias, has hardly kept it a secret. In an interview last year with a magazine in his native Canada, Garber said: "My companion Rainer Andreesen and I have been together almost 13 years in Greenwich Village. We both love New York." Andreesen, an artist and model, accompanied Garber to this year's Golden Globe Awards. Garber also appears in Ben Affleck's Argo, and spoke to Hernandez about the joy of his connection to Affleck and his wife Jennifer Garner, who costarred on Alias. "It's such a gratification ... to see him emerge now as one of the great directors," Garber says. "And the fact that people love the movie so much means the world."

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Role Cut From Lovelace

After stepping in for Demi Moore in “Lovelace,” Sarah Jessica Parker’s role has been cut from the film. directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman say they chose to alter when the film ended, picking 1980 instead of the planned 1984 – when Linda Lovelace became associated with Parker’s character, famed feminist activist Gloria Steinem. “You never want to make that call,” Friedman told the mag. “But she was a pro,” Epstein added. But could SJP’s take on Steinem make it on to an extended DVD cut for the film? The filmmakers said that they are still seeking distribution for the film about the legendary adult film star (it debuts Tuesday at the Sundance Film Festival), and have yet to figure out DVD details.
  With their baby boy set to arrive any day now, Shakira and Gerard Piqué shared a sexy and shirtless black and white maternity portrait with fans — and asked for their help. “We’d like to celebrate the imminent birth of our first child with all of you,” the singer and upcoming Voice judge, 35, writes on her social media accounts. Working with UNICEF, a charity Shakira has been a global   ambassador for since 2003, the couple requests donations from $5-110 rather than gifts for their son. The minimum amount buys a mosquito net to protect a child from malaria, while the maximum purchases a peanut-based paste that can save a malnourished child. “To celebrate the arrival of our first child, we hope that, in his name, other less privileged children in the world can have their basic needs covered through gifts and donations,” the couple write.  “Thank you for sharing this unforgettable moment with us.”


Matt Lauer’s Possible Firing from Today Show

Rumors are flying all over Twitter that Matt Lauer of The Today Show is going to see the very same exit door he allegedly pushed former co-host Ann Curry out of if ratings don’t improve in the next few months. Ever since the Curry ousting (which many insiders have claimed Lauer was responsible for) viewers have left Today for ABC’s Good Morning America. The blame is allegedly being placed on Lauer, and NBC is reportedly looking to remove their “image problem” and gain back their ratings. This, however, is all gossip. NBC is publicly denying all the rumors, stating they have no plans to dismiss him and his (gasp!) $25 million contract was just renewed. Alexandra Wallace, head of the Today show, says there is no truth to the rumors, claiming they are “wrong and irresponsible.”

 Amanda Bynes emerged from relative obscurity again on Monday, Jan. 14, to share her new look with fans. In a few images posted to her Tumblr, the former child star showed off a new cheek piercing on her left cheek, grinning for the camera from behind a set of sunglasses. Bynes, 26, has been keeping a low profile since her move to New York last fall following a string of very odd behaviors that landed her in the headlines. In November, one tabloid claimed that Bynes was parading around naked in an New York tanning salon wearing nothing but her goggles and looking stick-skinny.

AMC and Fox Television Studios have officially revived "The Killing" for Season 3 with stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman and showrunner Veena Sud all set to return. But the most important news of all: "Season three will focus on a new case, which will be resolved over the course of 12 episodes."


"Drop Dead Diva" has been dropped. The series has been canceled by Lifetime after four seasons, the last of which ended in September.


Controversial reality show "All My Babies' Mamas" has been canceled by Oxygen after a Change.org petition against the one-hour special received 37,000 signatures. According to reports, Oxygen was planning to highlight Shawty Lo, an Atlanta-based rapper who has 11 children with 10 different women. The show -- which was not being developed as a series, just as a one-time episode -- would have featured all of the women and children moving into one home together. According to an Oxygen press release, the show would "leave the man of the house to split his affection multiple ways while trying to create order" while the women would discover that "sharing your man with several opinionated women is bound to create issues." Petitioner Sabrina Lamb described it as a "one hour spectacle where 11 children are forced to witness their 10 unwed mothers clamor for financial support, emotional attention and sexual reward from Shawty-Lo, the apathetic 'father'." She asked consumers to "sign today to tell Oxygen that their viewers will not tolerate a show that exploits and stereotypes Black children and families, and we will boycott any advertiser who chooses to support the show." Now, Oxygen has axed plans for the show, stating: "As part of our development process, we have reviewed casting and decided not to move forward with the special. We will continue to develop compelling content that resonates with our young female viewers and drives the cultural conversation."


Say goodbye to Syfy’s Alphas. The network has decided to not renew the show, about a group of people with various superhuman abilities, for a third round.


NBC has commissioned a sitcom pilot based loosely on the life of Jessica Simpson for consideration in its Fall 2013 lineup. Simpson appeared on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno that night to discuss her new pregnancy, her plans to marry her baby daddy, and of course... the sitcom. "Is it about a girl who keeps getting pregnant?" jokes Leno."Yes," Simpson says. "Yes, and how that girl deals with that and everything else."The show remains untitled. "We don't have a name yet, we're just now in the process of casting everyone, doing the pilot," she explains.
