Elton John's bassist found dead

Elton John's bassist has been found dead after apparently taking his own life. The body of Robert Wayne Birch, who has been rocking out with Elton since 1992, was discovered near his home on Wednesday. the musician had what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, although cops have yet to find a suicide note and cannot confirm he took his life. Throughout his lengthy career, Birch also performed with other music legends, including Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Cher, Sting and Tina Turner. He had been playing with Elton for 20 years and was part of the studio recording for his smash hit "Candle in the Wind" in 1997.

 Blossom star Mayim Bialik was seriously injured Wednesday in a car accident in Los Angeles. Bialik, 36, was driving in L.A. when a car with three tourists from Chile turned into her vehicle at Hollywood Boulevard and caused the crash, LAPD Sgt. Monte Houze says. Bialik suffered "a severe injury to her left thumb" and was taken to a local hospital. The tourists were not cited or detained. But the star won't be losing a digit. On Wednesday afternoon, Bialik posted a message on Twitter saying, "(husband typing) In pain but will keep all my fingers. If u wanna see pre accident me watch The Soup tonight lol."


Queen's husband, Prince Philip, 91, hospitalized with recurrence of bladder infection
Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, has been taken to a Scottish hospital as "a precautionary measure," Buckingham Palace said. The 91-year-old Duke of Edinburgh was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by car, the palace confirmed with NBC News. According to a palace statement, he has had a recurrence of a bladder infection that led to his hospitalization for five days in June during the jubilee celebrations marking the queen's 60th year on the throne. Philip is likely to remain in the hospital for the next few days, according to the palace statement.

Robert Downey Jr. Injured on Set of 'Iron Man 3'

Iron Man 3 has temporarily suspended its production following an on-set injury suffered by the film's star, Robert Downey Jr. "Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt," Marvel Studios confirmed in a statement released today." There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates." The 47-year-old actor is currently reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the action flick out May 3, 2013. Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce, Don Cheadle and Sir Ben Kingsley also star.

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine says Obama 'staged' Aurora shooting

Dave Mustaine, lead singer of heavy metal band Megadeth, said that Barack Obama “staged” the recent shootings in Aurora and at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisc. Mustaine went on the anti-Obama rant during an Aug. 7 concert in Singapore.  “Back in my country, my president is trying to pass a gun ban, so he’s staging all of these murders,” said Mustaine, whose comments were captured on video. “Like the ‘Fast And Furious’ thing down at the border and Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple.” He continued before a quiet crowd, “I don’t know where I’m gonna live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America.”
 Congratulations are in order for late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. The host of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is engaged to girlfriend Molly McNearney, his rep confirmed. Kimmel, 44, proposed to McNearney, 34, while vacationing in South Africa’s Kruger National Forest. The couple has been together since 2009. McNearney is a co-head writer for ”Jimmy Kimmel Live!” This will be the second marriage for the talk show host and the first for McNearney. Kimmel married Gina Maddy in 1988 and the couple has two children. They divorced in 2002 and Kimmel dated comedian Sarah Silverman until they split in early 2009.

Diplomatic fury as Ecuador grants asylum to WikiLeaks founder Assange
Ecuador granted asylum to Julian Assange on Thursday, expressing fury at a threat by Britain to seize the WikiLeaks founder at its London embassy. Ricardo Patino, the Ecuadorean foreign minister, told a news conference in Quito it was upholding international law by granting asylum to Assange. Britain earlier said it would it would revoke the diplomatic status of Quito's embassy in west London -- where Assange has been holed up since June 19 -- in order to seize Assange irrespective of the asylum decision. Patino expressed fury at Britain’s earlier threat to arrest Assange, saying it was a direct threat to the Ecuador’s sovereignty. The former Australian hacker, who incensed American government officials by publishing thousands of secret U.S. diplomatic cables and Iraq and Afghan war dispatches in 2010, sought refuge in the embassy to avoid extradition to Sweden over assault and rape claims, which he denies. He exhausted all appeals after a 17-month legal battle. Outside the embassy on Thursday, protesters chanting slogans in support of Assange tussled with police. "Giving asylum doesn't fundamentally change anything," the spokesman said, adding that Britain had a legal duty to extradite Assange to Sweden. After the announcement, a spokesman said the UK foreign ministry "disappointed" but would still carry out its "binding obligation" to extradite Assange to Sweden.

Joe Simpson Charged with DUI

Joe Simpson, the 54-year-old father of Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, was arrested on Aug. 4, in Sherman Oaks, Calif., on suspicion of driving under the influence and has now been formally charged with two counts of DUI.  Two misdemeanor counts of DUI were filed against the talent manager and TV producer by the Los Angeles City Attorney.

Morris Chestnut has also booked the male lead role opposite Halle Berry in "The Hive" at Sony Pictures. The story is set at a 911 call center. Berry plays a veteran operator who takes a call from a kidnapped teen stuffed a trunk. Using her considerable skills to keep the girl calm, she tries to find the kidnapper before it’s too late.

Zoe Saldana is reportedly attached to star in a biopic of soul singing legend Nina Simone at UK's Ealing Studios. Mary J Blige has previously been linked to the role, along with David Oyelowo as Nina's assistant Clifton Henderson, and it was believed the film would focus on their relationship.
 Nike was an official outfitter for the London Olympics this year, but we're starting to question the brand's team spirit. A controversial Olympics-inspired Nike t-shirt is on the market emblazoned with the phrase "Gold Digging." Since the garment is only available for women, fashion bloggers and the Twittersphere are calling it sexist. Apparently only women--or female Olympians--are gold diggers. Was there not another more positive, inspiring phrase Nike could have printed on these women's tees? "Reach for the Gold," "Go for the Gold," or "Good as Gold," would have gotten the point across in Nike's trademark "Just Do It" sort of way. A gold digger is a woman out for a man's money. In this Olympic context, a phrase like "Gold Digging" implies you don't deserve or didn't earn your prize, and you went about obtaining it in a deceitful or unsportsmanlike way. The American women at the Olympics this year worked hard for their medals, and took home twice as many golds as their male counterparts. This is not the first time Nike has come under fire pertaining to the Olympics this year. The The U.S. women's soccer team was subject of ridicule for wearing Nike t-shirts reading "Greatness Has Been Found" after its gold-medal win over Japan. People found the slogan smug and inappropriate. Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times tweeted, "Greatness has been found,' but not humility. Gross," while SI.com's Courtney Nguyen agreed. "Put those t-shirts away, USA," she tweeted. "Keep it classy." Nike did not immediately respond to calls for comment. Since the "Gold Digging" t-shirts were so widely distributed and are already on sale in many places, it's doubtful the items will be pulled.

Kim Kardashian divorce hearing: Kris Humphries serves Kanye West subpoena in Nordstrom box

Kris Humphries' lawyers want to interview Kim Kardashian's current boyfriend, Kanye West, before setting a trial to end the estranged couple's 72-day marriage. Humphries' team reportedly tried a sneak attack with West's subpoena by putting it in a Nordstrom box and sending it to Kardashian's house. Kardashian's lawyer, Laura Wasser, told the judge in a hearing Wednesday (Aug. 15) about the maneuver, noting that Humphries has also subpoenaed Kardashian's mom, Kris Jenner, as well as NBC Universal and Bunim/Murray, which produces the Kardashian reality shows.  Kris Humphries' lawyer, Marshall Waller, says he wants to prove the marriage was a fraud engineered by Kardashian to benefit her reality show. He says he wants to be informed about the show before taking Kardashian's deposition. As a result, the judge says it will likely be next year before the couple is granted a divorce or annulment.  Wasser seems irked with the pace of the proceedings, noting that her firm has already spent $250,000 on the case, and says she will be billing Humphries for the work.

 

Drake and Chris Brown Sued Over Club Brawl

Rapper Drake and singer Chris Brown are facing a $15 million lawsuit from New York club bosses over their infamous brawl on June 12. The two stars' entourages clashed during a night out at W.i.P. and the fracas is believed to have erupted after the rival artists exchanged words over beauty Rihanna, who was romantically linked to Drake following her 2009 split from Brown. Bottles were smashed during the fight and basketball ace Tony Parker was among the club goers injured in the fracas, and now executives at Entertainment Enterprises, Ltd., the company which owns the Manhattan hot spot, have placed the blame on Drake and Brown. The club owners claim the two stars each arrived at the club "with his own small army of bodyguards, security personnel, employees, friends and other members of their entourage, consisting of at least 15 heavily-built men trained and/or experienced in hand-to-hand and weapons combat." In legal documents, the W.i.P bosses add, "[They] fashioned deadly weapons out of whatever materials they could find, including glasses, alcohol bottles and furniture." Two female revellers caught up in club fight have already filed suit against W.i.P. bosses, accusing them of continuing to serve alcohol to drunk patrons. Parker is also suing the club bosses for injuries to his eye

 

Michael Jackson's dad drops wrongful death lawsuit

Michael Jackson's father has dropped a wrongful death lawsuit filed against the former doctor who was convicted of causing the singer's death. Court records show Joe Jackson's request for a dismissal was granted Monday. The filings do not elaborate on a reason for dropping pursuit of the case, but two attorneys handling the case were recently ruled ineligible to practice law in California. The Jackson family patriarch initially filed the lawsuit against Conrad Murray in June 2010, on the anniversary of his son's death. A federal judge refused to hear it and it had to be re-filed in state court in Los Angeles. "It's good finally that this case is dismissed and gone," Murray's attorney Charles Peckham said Wednesday. "It's pretty clear that Joe Jackson intelligently and smartly dismissed this case so he, his wife and children can focus on Michael Jackson's life instead of the circumstances of his death." He said Murray, who remains jailed and is appealing his involuntary manslaughter conviction, remains pained by Jackson's death and feels sorry for his family. "His heart goes out to them," Peckham said. Jackson's mother, Katherine, continues to pursue a case against concert company AEG Live alleging it negligently hired and supervised Murray, who was giving Jackson nightly doses of the powerful anesthetic propofol as a sleep aid. Murray's treatments were conducted while Jackson was preparing for a series of comeback concerts. Her case is scheduled for trial in April.

Is The Good Wife trading one Good Christian Belle for another? Miriam Shor, who played business mogul Cricket Caruth-Reilly on ABC’s short-lived soap GCB, is joining the CBS drama in the recurring role of a reporter.  This comes just days after Shor’s former GCB co-star Kristin Chenoweth announced that she was cutting short her own arc as reporter covering the a Florrick campaign due to an injury she sustained on the set last month.

 

A&E has cancelled its long-running reality series Gene Simmons Family Jewels. “For seven great seasons, Gene, Shannon, Nick and Sophie have been part of the A&E family, and we could not be more proud of the unparalleled run of Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” the cabler announced Wednesday in a statement ”On behalf of everyone at A&E, we’d like to thank the production team at Thinkfactory Media, Gene and his amazing family for their partnership, collaboration and for opening up their lives, warts-and-all, to us throughout the years.”  The rock legend and his family echoed the network’s sentiments, calling their time on the docu-series “a wonderful, life-altering experience.”

 

Michael Grant Terry, who plays Brennan’s helpful squintern Wendell on Bones, has been cast in a multi-episode arc on Grimm.  Season 2 of Grimm is currently airing Mondays at 10/9c before moving to its regular timeslot on Friday, Sept. 21 at 9 pm.

 

Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg revealed this spring that they will not return to Studio 8H for Saturday Night Live‘s upcoming 38th season. Their costar Jason Sudeikis has indicated that he may leave the show as well. Now one more SNL cast member is reportedly out: Abby Elliott has told Splitsider that she is also leaving the late night comedy showcase. If true, Elliott’s decision may come as a surprise to SNL viewers. She has been a featured player on the show since 2008, and was upgraded to full cast member in the fall of 2010. Wiig’s departure leaves a large vacuum, and Elliott’s skilled impressions of public figures like Rachel Maddow, Zooey Deschanel, and Angelina Jolie made her a prime candidate to help fill that void. Elliott is also notable for being a second generation SNL performer. Her father, comedian Chris Elliott, was a cast member during the show’s 20th season.

 

Saturday Night Live vet Rachel Dratch will reunite with former castmate Maya Rudolph on the sophomore season of Up All Night, which launches Thursday, Sept. 20. She’ll play a superfan of Rudolph’s talk show host character, Ava.

This fall, viewers will say goodbye to The CW’s pop culture phenom Gossip Girl, but not without a few visitors from the past. We’ve already seen the return of Bart Bass (Robert John Burke) in last season’s final batch of episodes. Who else will be back for the final installments of the glitzy soap? There are so many in the GG world that have gone MIA. So the latest GG alum to sign up to return to the Upper East Side is none other than schemer Poppy Lifton, played by actress Tamara Feldman. Poppy was last seen attempting to con Serena (Blake Lively) and her family out of money through a Ponzi scheme with the help of her equally manipulative boyfriend Gabriel, played by The Social Network‘s Armie Hammer, only to be revealed by Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg).

 

Former Spartacus vixen Lucy Lawless has booked a multi-episode arc on Parks and Recreation as a love interest for Nick Offerman’s hyper-masculine alter ego. Lawless, who is coming off of a three-year run on Spartacus, will play a single mom in Pawnee named Diane who has a small problem in her neighborhood. Ron and Andy are dispatched to help her, and Andy notices there might be some chemistry between her and Ron. Parks and Rec‘s fifth season bows on Thursday, Sept. 20 on NBC.

 Ron Palillo, the boyish actor who played Arnold Horshack, the remedial-class loser on Welcome Back, Kotter, died Tuesday morning at his home near Palm Beach, Fla. He was 63. He suffered an apparent heart attack and was found by his longtime companion, Joseph Gramm, according to the report. Rushed to the hospital, Palillo, a heavy smoker, was pronounced dead upon arrival. The sitcom, on which Palillo appeared with John Travolta from 1975-79, allowed him to live the Hollywood good life in a hilltop house. But in the years that followed he developed a crippling depression that left him in near seclusion, he said in 1992. His turnaround came thanks to stage work.

Bobby Brown Is Back in Rehab

Singer Bobby Brown has returned to rehab. Alicia Etheredge, Brown's wife of nearly two months, confirmed that her husband is undergoing rehab. "He's doing great," she said of his response to the treatment.  Brown, who was married to the late Whitney Houston from 1992 to 2007, has had a long battle with alcohol addiction.  The 43-year-old R&B singer is undergoing treatment for addiction issues, but Etheredge would not confirm whether it's for "alcohol addiction."

Kenny G Files for Divorce After 20 Years of Marriage

Seven months after their separation, Kenny G has filed for divorce from his wife of 20 years. The smooth jazz musician, 56, whose real name is Kenneth Bruce Gorelick, cites irreconcilable differences for dissolving his marriage to Balynda Helene Benson-Gorelick, according to his L.A. Superior Court papers filed Aug. 9. He seeks joint custody for their minor child, 14-year-old son Noah. Married in 1992, the pair separated last January and have a prenuptial agreement, the papers say. Benson-Gorelick had filed for legal separation in January, also citing irreconcilable differences, and requested full physical custody of Noah.

After just 41 days of marriage, Evelyn Lozada has filed for divorce from Chad Johnson (formerly Ochocinco) following a domestic dispute. Johnson, 34, was arrested Saturday night, on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. "I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death," Johnson said in a statement posted to his website Tuesday. "I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life."  Following Saturday's domestic violence incident involving the Basketball Wives cast member and husband Chad Johnson (formerly Ochocinco), she said "I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me." Johnson was taken into police custody Saturday after he allegedly head-butted Lozada, who was treated for a "pretty good sized" laceration at a nearby hospital, Davie, Fla., police Cpt. Dale Engle said. "Domestic violence is not okay, and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well." It has been a difficult week for Lozada, who is also mourning the death of her brother-in-law, Anthony Ochoa, who died Monday after battling cancer. Ochoa, 43, who was married to Lozada's sister, Sylvia, escorted Lozada down the aisle during her July 4 wedding to Johnson last month. "Anthony was an amazing husband, father, and brother-in-law. He will be dearly missed."


Kristen Stewart Out of 'Snow White' Sequel
And the fallout continues for Kristen Stewart in the wake of her highly publicized cheating scandal with Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. The 22-year-old starlet will be written out of the planned SWATH sequel. Purportedly, the film's studio has decided to ditch the original follow-up, which had focused around Stewart, and go ahead with a "spin-off" centered upon star Chris Hemsworth. A Universal spokeswoman confirmed they "are exploring our options to continue the franchise," however add that "no decision has been made."  No word yet on Sanders' involvement with the sequel, but a source claims he will return to helm the project.


Burglar hit Apple co-founder Steve Jobs' house
A thief burglarized Steve Jobs' house in the high-tech hub of Palo Alto, stealing more than $60,000 in computers and jewelry without realizing he had hit the late Apple co-founder's property. Kariem McFarlin, 35, was charged with burglary and selling stolen property after the July 17 break-in, when the house was vacant during renovations, said Scott Tsui, a Santa Clara County prosecutor. The July 17 burglary came just over nine months after Jobs died in October at age 56 and his Silicon Valley home, about 30 miles south of San Francisco, briefly became a gathering place for fans who left flowers on the sidewalk out front. McFarlin, who faces an August 20 plea hearing, did not appear to know the house belonged to Jobs, Tsui said. "We don't have any evidence to show his house was targeted," Tsui said. "All we know is that it was a random burglary that can happen to people." McFarlin was arrested on August 2 and held on $500,000 bail, according to Santa Clara County inmate records. There are no indications that the house, which is an English-country style home placed close to the sidewalk, has been sold since Jobs died last year. Because high-technology components were stolen, Tsui said his office's high-technology crimes unit was involved in investigating the case.
 After sustaining an injury on the set of The Good Wife last month, Kristin Chenoweth is leaving her recurring role on the hit CBS series as she continues to recover. "It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to The Good Wife at this time," Chenoweth says in a statement Monday. "[I'm] getting better slowly, and thank you everyone for your concern." The actress will, however, appear on the season 4 premiere on Sept. 30 (9 p.m. ET). Chenoweth, 44, was injured by a piece of falling lighting equipment while on the Brooklyn set of the show on July 11. She was hospitalized overnight as a result of her injuries, and she has periodically shared health updates via Twitter. "Today not best "pain" day. Remaining positive. (I think)," she Tweeted on Aug. 8. On July 24, the Tony-winning Broadway star and Emmy winner for Pushing Daisies spoke out about her recovery. "To all my fans: thank you for support and love," she Tweeted. "Doin better everyday. More to come when I'm able! ... I love you guys xo." When reached, CBS had no comment.

Merriam-Webster adds 'f-bomb' and 'sexting' to dictionary
Just in case you ever hit your head and forget what "f-bomb" or " sexting" mean, you can now reach for Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, which just added the terms along with a slew of others on Tuesday (Aug. 14). "Some of the new words this year provide colorful images," says Peter Sokolowski, Merriam-Webster editor at large. "Terms like 'man cave,' 'underwater' (when used to describe mortgages), 'earworm,' and 'bucket list' paint vivid pictures in your mind. They show that English-speakers can be very creative as they describe the world around them." Some other newbies for 2012 include "copernicium" (a new chemical element), "mash-up" (thank you, "Glee"), "energy drink" and "cloud computing." Sounds like a real "game changer" -- another new-for-2012 term defined by M-W as "a newly introduced element or factor that changes an existing situation or activity in a significant way."

Thor: The Dark World
Alice Krige ("Star Trek: First Contact," "Silent Hill") has joined the cast of the upcoming sequel "Thor: The Dark World". The actress says the role is small and she "may not be recognizable" leading to speculation she'll play the Dark Elf queen Alflyse, wife of Christopher Eccleston's villain Malekith the Accursed.

Z for Zachariah
Tobey Maguire is attached to produce and star in Z for Zachariah, an adaptation of the Robert C. O’Brien novel about a young woman who, thanks to the unique weather patterns of the small, self-contained valley where she lives, believes she is the sole survivor of a nuclear apocalypse. Maguire will play the scientist who comes upon the woman’s home. 
 Katrina Darling, a 22-year-old burlesque dancer from Newcastle who says she found out that she was related to the Duchess of Cambridge when a member of the press called seeking comment about the royal wedding, has made the cover of the September 2012 issue of Playboy. The royalty-tinged issue, which also features an eight-page photo spread of Middleton's second cousin, (one of Darling's grandmothers was the sister of Middleton's great-grandfather Thomas Harrison.) hits newsstands and will be available for tablet download on Aug. 17. But while being a little bit related to Middleton seems to have given her career a boost, Darling hasn't tried to contact her cousin or otherwise take advantage of her now-royal family ties. "It was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard," she told Playboy of finding out she was related to the most glamorous young woman in Great Britain. Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad") has joined the cast of Paschal Chaumeil's adaptation of Nick Hornby's novel "Long Way Down". Shooting kicks off in London in September. Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette and Imogen Poots also star in the story of a quartet of people who plan to commit suicide who befriend one another when they meet atop a tall building on New Year’s Eve.

Maria Howell ("The Color Purple," "The Blind Side") has been cast in the role of Seeder in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' second 'Hunger Games' trilogy novel "Catching Fire".  A former victor from District 11, Seeder competes in the 75th Annual Hunger Games, also known as the Quarter Quell.

Evangelist Billy Graham being treated in North Carolina hospital for bronchitis
Evangelist Billy Graham is being treated at a North Carolina hospital for bronchitis, officials said Sunday. Graham, 93, was admitted overnight to Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., near his home in Montreat, for evaluation and treatment of a pulmonary infection. He was resting comfortably Sunday and his condition was stable, the hospital said in a statement. David Pucci, the pulmonologist treating Graham, said earlier that Graham was being given antibiotics. "This morning, Mr. Graham watched his grandson, Will Graham, on television preaching at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, S.C. Later, he enjoyed a visit from his daughter, Gigi, and one of his grandchildren. They ate lunch together and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon," Graham's spokesman, A. Larry Ross, said in a statement. Graham was previously hospitalized for successful treatment of pneumonia in November. He resumed his ongoing program of physical therapy and normal activity shortly after his release, according to his staff. Graham was expected to remain in the hospital for several days, Ross said. No date has been set for discharge.
 Miami Dolphins player and former Dancing with the Stars contestant Chad Johnson has been arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge in Florida. Johnson, 34, who formerly used the last name Ochocinco, was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly head-butted new wife, Basketball Wives star, Evelyn Lozada, during an argument. Lozada was treated for a "pretty good sized" laceration at a nearby hospital Davie, Fla., police Cpt. Dale Engle tells NFL.com. Johnson was taken into police custody and is expected to be released from Broward County Jail Sunday morning. The couple, now filming a reality show for VH1, Ev and Ocho, tied the knot last month in Miami. 

Dolphins release WR Chad Johnson

The Miami Dolphins have released veteran receiver Chad Johnson.  Johnson, who was arrested Saturday after his wife accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their Florida home, was trying to revive his career with the Dolphins. The two hadn't been married for two months yet, having tied the knot on July 4. Johnson, 34, was released from jail Sunday on $2,500 bond. The veteran wide receiver had only 15 receptions last season and one touchdown for the New England Patriots. Johnson was charged with simple domestic battery, a misdemeanor. Johnson was released from jail as the Dolphins took the field for Sunday's practice. After the workout, coach Joe Philbin said he would meet soon with Johnson. We're going to deal with this," Philbin told the Associated Press. "We're not going to waste time. ... We're all in this thing together. Everybody that sets foot in this building, we're all held to a high standard." Johnson's defense attorney, Adam Swickle, told the AP a no-contact order has been issued that prevents Johnson from contacting Lozada. Swickle declined to comment further.  If convicted, Johnson faces a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. He could also receive community service, probation or anger management classes. Johnson and Lozada were prominent in the recent first episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Miami Dolphins."

'Bourne Legacy' beats 'Dark Knight Rises' at box office

Universal's "Bourne Legacy" ended the reign of "Dark Knight Rises" with a $41.3 million opening weekend at the domestic box office.  The success of the PG-13-rated action thriller "Bourne Legacy" represents a coming out party for Renner as a box-office star. Following his appearance in 2010's "The Hurt Locker," he's been in several blockbusters including "The Avengers," "Mission Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" and "Thor," but this time he was front and center. And he could be in for another "Bourne" installment. "Bourne Legacy" didn't match the numbers put up five years ago by "The Bourne Ultimatum," which opened to $69 million and went on to earn $227 million domestically, but it played strongly enough to give Universal some options with the franchise.  The No. 2 movie was "The Campaign," Warner Bros.' R-rated political comedy starring Will Farrell and Zack Galifianakis. It did better than expected with a $27.4 million weekend. The top 10:

Amy Winehouse's ex-husband Overdosed After Reading Her Texts

Amy Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil embarked on a deadly drink and drug binge after reading text messages his ex-wife sent him while he was in prison, according to his mother. The 30-year-old was hospitalized earlier this month after his girlfriend found him in bed choking on his own vomit and he is currently fighting for his life in a medically-induced coma. Fielder-Civil was in prison when his ex-wife died of alcohol poisoning last year, serving out a sentence for burglary and possessing an imitation firearm, and he was released two weeks ago. His mother, Georgette, has now revealed that Fielder-Civil recently found a number of previously unread text messages which Winehouse sent him before her death and the messages left him overcome with grief. Georgette claims Winehouse asked if she could be godmother to Fielder-Civil's son Jack, now 15 months, who was born to another woman after their split. She claims, "He had messages on his phone from Amy which he only got recently. He didn't have the phone in prison and he picked up messages from her when he was released. She said she wanted to be Jack's godmother. The grief for Amy started again. I fear he may have been trying to take his own life... If he pulls through it may be two months before he is discharged. The worrying thing is if he then goes back to his substance misuse. Next time he won't make it, there is no doubt about that."

50 Cent has never been a fan of rival rapper Kanye West -- and he doesn't think much of his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, either.  In an interview with hip-hop mag XXL, Fiddy is asked about the inspiration for Kanye's song "Perfect B****."  "If that man feel like she perfect, then she's perfect," he begins diplomatically.  "He could mean it and you'll end up singing the words to it because he's Kanye," continues the "In da Club" singer. "You know how it is? One man's trash is another man's treasure."

Action man Connor Cruise is just like dad in his first major film role

His famous father has played the hero with action roles in films like Top Gun and Mission: Impossible. And now Connor Cruise is joining him in the spotlight in his first major acting role in the remake of Eighties teen action film Red Dawn.  The 17-year-old plays Daryl Bates in the movie, a member of armed resistance forces the Wolverines. Connor made his film debut in 2008, with a small role playing a young Will Smith in Seven Pounds. His new film, due out in cinemas on November 21, is about a group of teenagers who look to save their Washington State town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers. Directed by Bourne Supremacy and Spiderman stunt co-ordinator Dan Bradley, the action thriller stars ubiquitous Aussie heartthrob Chris Hemsworth.  Other leads in the movie are rising star Josh Hutcherson of The Hunger Games fame, and Isabel Lucas, another young Australian whose career in Tinseltown is currently in high gear.

After more than two decades on The Bold and the Beautiful, Ronn Moss is leaving the CBS soap where he’s played fashion magnate Ridge Forrester since the show’s 1987 inception. The exact details are unclear, but an insider says that Moss elected not to renew his contract over salary issues. Moss could not be reached for comment. Production company Bell Phillip Television confirmed the exit. “Ronn has spent an amazing 25 years with B&B,” a rep for Bell Phillip said in a statement. “We will always consider him family, and we wish him only the best in all of his future endeavors.” Moss was one of the so-called “core four” on Bold, referring to the foursome of original actors still on the show, including Susan Flannery as Stephanie Forrester, John McCook as Eric Forrester, and Katherine Kelly Lang as Brooke Logan. Moss will shoot his final scenes for The Bold and the Beautiful this Tuesday, Aug. 14, and his last episode will air on a yet-to-be-determined date in September. (As a bit of hope for you fans out there: Big soap stars can — and sometimes do — return after leaving.) It’s no secret that times have been tough for the genre lately, as just four daytime soaps — Bold, The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, and General Hospital — remain on network television. Moss’ pay issue undoubtedly goes back to the stark reality that, as daytime viewers continue to choose alternatives like cable programming and talk shows, soap operas don’t attract the same kind of audience they once did. For the week ending Aug. 3, Bold drew 3.1 million viewers, putting it in second place behind genre leader The Young and the Restless. Still, Bold is considered to be the most profitable sudser in daytime because of its success internationally, with 26.2 million worldwide viewers. That huge international audience has made Moss a star around the world, exemplified by his second-place finish on Italy’s version of Dancing with the Stars in 2010 and an orange juice television advertisement in Australia, where he is particularly popular.

The interview will satisfy another dream come true following her recent swoon-worthy exchange with the cast of her favorite show, The Vampire Diaries. Douglas told Essence magazine that she likened the prospect of someday meeting Oprah to the dream phone call she received from President Barack Obama following her historic win for Team America's gymnastic team. The bad news for fans of the Victoria Justice sitcom "Victorious"? Nickelodeon has canceled the series. The good news? The show will air for one more season before getting yanked.

Stacy Keibler's career is really starting to cook, judging by her latest project. The former WWE Diva and "Dancing With the Stars" alum (and current George Clooney girlfriend) will host "Supermarket Superstars," a new reality series for Lifetime, the network said. The series will feature aspiring food entrepreneurs pitching their food-product inventions to a panel of industry experts, with the ultimate victor receiving a nationwide launch in a major grocery-store chain.

Ryan Lochte is in search of a wife -- or at least a dancing partner. Lochte told NBC's Matt Lauer on Friday's "Today" show that he wants to appear on "Dancing With the Stars" or "The Bachelor," two popular ABC reality shows. The Olympic swimmer, winner of five medals at this summer's London games, is looking to take some time off after his triumphs. He has already made a video for Will Ferrell's Funny or Die making light of his penchant for urinating in the pool, but the Rochester, N.Y.-native has grander ambitions. Moving to LA is his first priority, though it is unclear whether that will happen before or after the next Olympics. "I definitely want to move to LA, that's been a big goal of mine -- getting into fashion," said Lochte, who now lives in Florida. "That is my passion. When swimming is all said and done, I want to get into fashion and design my own clothing line."

Ryan Buell Diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer

Ryan Buell, paranormal investigator and star of A&E's hit series Paranormal State, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He is 30 years old. Buell, who founded the Paranormal Research Society, was released from treatment Wednesday morning, his staff wrote on his his Facebook page. "Things are looking positive after complications with his kidneys started a month ago and temporarily knocked him down," read the update. "Ryan enjoyed some Wendy's (but keep that a secret) and reported back to work today." Buell, who wrote a memoir, Paranormal State: My Journey Into the Unknown, in 2010, has been speaking out about his battle on his official fan page. And he wants to make something clear. He's not the only one struggling with this terrible disease. "You all also know that Ryan ... wants to make sure that others are taken care of first," wrote a member of the PRS staff. "Ryan has been honored and humbled by the support, but also wants to make sure that we all remember the struggle is not his alone." "There are those who have struggled with this disease for years, those who are diagnosed every day and those within the support network surrounding them. Ryan knows he is loved and supported, and would want for that love and support to stretch beyond this community." The post asks that Buell's fans support organizations that are working to find a cure and organizations that offer support to loved ones of those with the disease, citing the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and its taking action initiative.
 The ex-husband of Amy Winehouse is on life support in a U.K. hospital after suffering multiple organ failure following his apparent ingestion of drinks and drugs. Blake Fielder-Civil, 30, was rushed to the hospital in Dewsbury, West Yorks, on Thursday after he was found choking in bed after drinking. "The doctors say they don't know the prognosis," Aspin, who is the mother of Fielder-Civil's 15-month-son, told the Sun. "They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection." She added: "I'm praying he'll survive, but I'm having to prepare myself that he may never wake up." His situation comes nearly 13 months after the death of Winehouse, 27, who after her own struggles with addiction, succumbed to the "unintended consequence" of drinking too much alcohol, the coroner determined. Amy's father – and Blake's former father-in-law (from 2007-09) – Mitch Winehouse took to Twitter in response to the "terrible news" about his ex-son-in-law. "Remember Amy loved him," posted Mitch Winehouse. "Let's pray for his recovery."


Joe Simpson Busted for DUI
Joe Simpson -- Jessica Simpson's father -- was arrested for DUI in L.A. According to law enforcement sources, 54-year-old Joe was busted on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks on August 4.  LAPD cops pulled Joe's car over around 10 PM ... and during the stop, officers got the feeling he was intoxicated and ultimately cuffed the famous pop and took him to the pokey. Joe was booked and spent the rest of the night behind bars. He was released without having to post bail at 9:41 the following day. The case has not been sent over to prosecutors in the L.A. City Attorney's Office yet, but if criminal charges are filed, it's likely Joe will not get any jail time since it's his first offense.  He'll probably end up with a big fat fine

Estate of ‘Jackass’ star Ryan Dunn sued posthumously by family of passenger that died in crash with him 

The parents of Zachary Hartwell, the passenger who was killed in "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn's high-speed, fatal car ride last year, will be suing his estate posthumously. June 2011, Dunn and Hartwell were driving at 132 MPH in West Goshen, Pa., when Dunn's Porsche flew over a guardrail into a tree, and burst into flames. Police said that Dunn had a blood alcohol level of .196, double the legal limit. Both Hartwell and Dunn died in the crash. Hartwell's parents, George and Emma, have filed a civil lawsuit, and are claiming that Dunn was responsible for their son's death. The Hartwells also named Barnaby's West Chester bar in the lawsuit, claiming that Dunn was visibly intoxicated, and that the restaurant should not have continued to serve him. In the suit, they claim negligence and recklessness, as well as wrongful death.

'Last Man Standing': Meet Tim Allen's newest family members
Expect to see several new faces on ABC’s Last Man Standing when the Tim Allen comedy returns for a second season this fall. Newly-minted Showrunner Tim Doyle (Better off Ted, Ellen) has decided to recast several roles, including the part of Kristin — Mike Baxter’s (Allen) eldest daughter — as well as role of Kristin’s son Boyd and the young boy’s father. Amanda Fuller (left) will now play the eldest daughter, replacing Alexandra Krosney. Fuller starred as Dr. Morgan Peterson on Grey’s Anatomy last season and has also made appearances on dramas like Scandal and Bones. Newcomer Flynn Morrison will play a 5-year-old version of Boyd, a role that was portrayed last year by toddler twins Luke and Evan Kruntchev.

Arsenio Hall's new late-night, syndicated talk show has been sold to stations in more than 85 percent of the country, CBS Television Distribution announced.  The show has been sold in all of the top 50 markets. In addition to Tribune Broadcasting, CBS Television and local TV stations that signed on early, the show has been sold to stations from Sinclair Broadcasting, LIN Television Stations, Belo Corp., Cox Enterprises, Media General, Post-Newsweek Stations, Newport Television, Raycom Media and The Grant Group. Hall's new show will debut in fall 2013.

Hawaii Five-0 is readying for a fight. Ving Rhames will guest star in an upcoming Season 3 episode of the CBS crime procedural. The Pulp Fiction actor will play Billy, a man from Danno’s past, in flashbacks to the Fivo-0 member’s time as a cop in New Jersey.

NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt responded to Sharon Osbourne and her claims that her son, Jack Osbourne was let go from NBC's upcoming new reality series, Stars Earn Stripes after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  Reportedly, Sharon Osbourne was angry at NBC's supposed decision which prompted her to leave her position as judge on America's Got Talent.  "First, we have the deepest affection for Sharon Osbourne and consider her to be part of the NBC family," Greenblatt said in a statement. "And our hearts go out to her, Ozzy, Jack and his family at this time. We hold medical information in strict confidence and therefore cannot comment specifically about Jack, but as a company that cares deeply about the health and safety of everyone on our shows - especially one like Stars Earn Stripes that requires dangerous water stunts, strenuous physical activity, and uses live ammunition - we required all potential participants to undergo medical vetting to ensure that they could safely participate. Although we did not ask Jack to participate in the competition, we were able to offer him two substantial alternative roles on the show, both of which he declined. This network does not discriminate on any basis."

ION Television picked up the off-net rights to all six seasons of CBS' former series Numb3rs.  The procedural drama originally aired on CBS until 2010 and will premiere on ION during the 2012-2013 season.  Numb3rs will join the network's Positively Entertaining lineup of series that includes its original Flashpoint and the acquired Criminal Minds, Cold Case and Leverage.

NBC News and TV One are teaming to offer coverage of the 2012 presidential election with a unique perspective aimed at the African American audience.  The coverage will encompass the final night of both the Republican National Convention (RNC) and the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in addition to the night of the presidential election.  The three nights of coverage will be branded as TV One: One Vote Matters.  This partnership marks the first time the two organizations are working together as well as TV One presenting national convention coverage.  The announcement was made jointly by NBC News President Steve Capus and TV One President/CEO Wonya Lucas.  TV One will air a four-hour block of coverage on the final night of the RNC on August 30 starting at 8p and for the DNC on September 6 beginning at 8p.  NBC News' Craig Melvin will anchor all three evenings of coverage from NBC's Washington, D.C. studios and TV One's Washington Watch host Roland Martin will also offer further coverage and contribute segments and analysis.  TV One's 2012 presidential election night coverage will be live on November 6 beginning at 7p and will include the final victory speech of the newly-elected President of the United States.

  Bob Hoskins, who has entertained audiences in lovable mug roles for some four decades, has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and is retiring from acting, the 69-year-old announced through his agent on Wednesday. "He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years, and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career," said the rep's statement. Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family," the statement continued, "and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time." In addition to his wife Linda, Hoskins has four grown children from his two marriages. Best known as a scene-stealer in such films as Mona Lisa, The Long Good Friday, Cotton Club and Who Framer Roger Rabbit, Hoskins grew up in working-class London, the son of a bookkeeper and a school cook. He quit school at 15 and for 10 years did odd jobs, including fire-eater and a stint on an Israeli kibbutz. His most recent, and apparently final, screen appearance was in this year's Snow White and the Huntsman, opposite Kristen Stewart.

Jimmy Fallon says he will not host the Oscars

Not so fast: The host of NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has revealed that despite reports to the contrary, he will not be hosting 2013′s Academy Awards ceremony. “No, I’m not going to do the Oscars,” he told Matt Lauer in London this afternoon. “It’s an honor to be asked by the Academy, but it’s not my year.” Rumors about Fallon hosting the Oscars began swirling last week, when recently departed MPAA president Tom Sherak initiated talks with the late night host and Saturday Night Live executive producer Lorne Michaels. 
 Randy Travis was charged with driving while intoxicated and threatening law officers after the country singer crashed his car and was found naked and combative at the scene, Texas officials said Wednesday. It was the second arrest this year for Travis, who was cited in February for public intoxication. A photo released by the Grayson County Sheriff's Office shows a battered-looking Travis in a T-shirt, with a black eye and dried blood on his face. He later walked out of jail on $21,500 bond wearing scrubs, a University of Texas ball cap and no shoes. The sheriff's office received an emergency call just before midnight Tuesday about a man seen lying in a road west of Tioga, where the singer lives. A car registered to Travis, 53, drove off the road, said Tom Vinger, spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety. The vehicle had struck several barricades in a construction zone, according to the DPS. Vinger said Travis made threats against Texas Highway Patrol troopers and was not wearing clothes at the time of his arrest. He refused sobriety tests, Vinger said, so a blood specimen was taken. Sheriff's Sgt. Rickey Wheeler said Travis faces charges of retaliation or obstruction in addition to driving under the influence. "Travis had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and several signs of intoxication," according to a statement from the sheriff's office. "While Travis was being transported, Travis made threats to shoot and kill the troopers working the case." A representative for Travis said there would be no immediate comment on the arrest. In February, Travis was charged with public intoxication after being spotted in a vehicle parked in front of a church near his home. He also has been involved in messy court proceedings with his ex-wife. Travis was divorced from Elizabeth Travis in 2010 after 19 years of marriage. Earlier this year, Elizabeth Travis, who had been his manager for more than three decades, filed a lawsuit claiming that Randy Travis made it impossible for her to do her job and terminated her management contract without proper notice. She said her ex-husband sent several men, including an armed guard, to clean out her offices. Randy Travis countersued in May, accusing his ex-wife of divulging confidential information about him in order to damage his reputation and career. The court documents don't say what information Elizabeth Travis is alleged to have betrayed.
 Liz Cambage became the first woman to dunk at the Olympics, and then she became the first athlete to go on record calling out Kobe Bryant and Stephanie Rice for having an inappropriate relationship. Things between Bryant and Rice started cooking when the NBA MVP visited the Australian swim team before the Games began since the teams were staying at the same hotel in Manchester. Rice and Bryant took some pictures, including the one seen above which the swimmer shared on Twitter and Instagram, along with the message "First piccy with a "star" going to be hard to beat... Kobe." Rice was also pretty excited about an autographed pair of sneakers Kobe gave her, and he received some signed swim caps as part of the trade. Fast forward to the second week of the Olympics and the closeness between the two continued. Bryant was spotted at the velodrome on Tuesday watching some cycling along with Rice. Rice then sat in the stands to watch the US beat her home country of Australia in their quarterfinal basketball game on Wednesday. At this point you could say they're just friends, but Cambage, who is a star center on Australia's basketball team, is not convinced. She sent the following trio of tweets on Tuesday calling out the pair for their relationship, telling Rice to "get a grip." "I love how kobe has his wife & kids w/ him at the olympics and still surrounded by groupies." and later "LOL some women need to get a grip, i am even going to stop wearing kobes"  Cambage isn't the only Australian athlete who suspects something is up between the two. Swimmer Craig Stevens told Triple M's "Grill Team" on Wednesday "There's definitely something going on."  "I remember her telling the story [of] how he put it to her... that he had the family coming the next day but he had that night free," Stevens told Triple M. Kobe was still married to wife Vanessa in 2008, so that would definitely make his alleged pass at her inappropriate. Vanessa filed for divorce last December, but she never finalized the paperwork and the two were said to be working on a reconciliation. But between Bryant's relationship with Rice, and these scandalous photos, there's no way Vanessa could be cool with Kobe's behavior. Rice also has a history of flings. She dated but broke up with Australian swimmer Eamon Sullivan prior to the 2008 Games, and was later spotted kissing Michael Phelps in Beijing.  

Modano, actress wife Ford divorcing

Retired hockey star Mike Modano and actress Willa Ford have decided to end their five-year marriage. Modano spokesman Rob Scichili said Wednesday the couple was divorcing but didn't have further details. The 42-year-old Modano and Ford married in 2007 in Athens, Texas. Modano is the highest-scoring American-born player in NHL history with 561 goals and 1,374 points. He spent 21 years with the Stars in Minnesota and Dallas and retired after one season with the Detroit Red Wings, closer to his hometown of Livonia, Mich. The 31-year-old Ford was on ''Dancing With the Stars'' in 2006 and now appears in the Starz television drama ''Magic City.''

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler Welcome Son Camden Jack

The reality star and her Chicago Bears quarterback fiancé welcomed a son early Wednesday, Aug. 8, the proud new mom Tweeted. “We are thrilled to welcome Camden Jack Cutler into the world,” Cavallari, 25, writes. “He was born this morning weighing 7 lbs., 9 oz. Everyone is doing great!” Shortly after reconciling following a brief split, the couple announced they were engaged and, in January, confirmed they were expecting their first child. Although thrilled with their pending arrival, Cavallari admitted the pregnancy wasn’t exactly planned. “We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited,” she said. “Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!”
 Gillian Anderson has split from her longtime partner Mark Griffiths. The duo, who never got married, share sons Oscar, five, and Felix, three and spent six years together. A representative for the actress told Us Weekly magazine: "Gillian Anderson and her partner Mark Griffiths have amicably separated after six years together." 'The X-Files' and 'House of Mirth' actress has been married twice before. She and film art director Clyde Kotz, with whom she shares daughter Piper, 17, divorced in 1997. The star and documentarian Julian Ozanne were married for two years before parting ways in 2006.

Nivea drops Rihanna for being too raunchy

Rihanna is no longer the face of Nivea, reportedly because she's too sexy for the skin-care brand. Stefan Heidenreich, the CEO of Nivea's parent company, Beiersdorf, said that the singer was a "no go." "I do not understand how to bring the core brand of Nivea in conjunction with Rihanna," he said, adding,"Nivea is a company which stands for trust, family and reliability." The singer appeared in a series of advertisements for Nivea last year, including one in which  she posed naked for the brand's 100th anniversary, the Press Association notes. Her song "California King Bed" was featured in an ad campaign, and Nivea sponsored her tour last year. In a statement, a rep for Beiersdorf denied the company had fired Rihanna, but said the focus of Nivea's advertising strategy has changed. "In 2011 Nivea worked with the artist Rihanna in the context of the brand's 100th birthday anniversary campaign. From the beginning this music-cooperation was scheduled for one year and ended as planned at the end of 2011," a spokesperson said. "Within the future brand positioning Nivea focuses more than ever on its core values. This leads to a change in advertising strategy as well as marketing campaigns," the statement continued. "Beiersdorf and Nivea thank Rihanna for her work in relation to the 100th birthday anniversary campaign and feel respect and sympathy for her as a person and artist." Rihanna offered up an apparent response to Heidenreich's remarks on her Twitter account Tuesday, posting his headshot and writing, "No caption necessary."

Kate Bosworth Calls Michael Polish 'My Fiancé'

It looks like Michael Polish is more than a boyfriend to Kate Bosworth. In an online travel blog for Vogue, the actress appears to have leaked the news that the pair are engaged.  "On our first day in Seoul, my fiancé, Michael Polish, and I venture out to discover Changdeokgung Palace," writes Bosworth. She says nothing more about their romantic status, but does go on to describe exploring ancient towers, pavilions and beautiful secret gardens. Bosworth, 29, was first spotted stepping out with Polish at a Coldplay concert in August 2011 in Los Angeles. They've since been seen at a number of events and hotspots.  Polish, 41, directed Bosworth in the upcoming film Big Sur about Jack Kerouac's three brief trips to a cabin on the Northern California coast.

A new report in Star magazine claims that Aniston broke up with Theroux after a year-and-a-half of dating, allegedly because he wasn't ready to commit. Among Star mag's supposed bits of evidence was Theroux's recent dinner at NYC's ABC Kitchen with a "mystery blonde." In fact, the unidentified woman is actually actress/comedienne Amy Sedaris, an old friend, a source says. More proof that the twosome are stronger than ever? Stacey Dash Out of Hospital

The actress was admitted to Encino Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning to receive treatment to boost her body fluids. According to her spokesperson, Dash fell ill after a meal she ate on Sunday night, after which she "hadn't been able to hold down food or liquids ... not even water." Dash, best known for her work in "Clueless," has since been discharged and is at home recovering.

There’s a Smashing new romance in the works for Daniel Sunjata, who has joined the NBC musical drama in a recurring role for Season 2. Fans will recall that Julia nearly ended her marriage last season by having an affair with one of Bombshell‘s stars.  Nearly a month after suffering a heart attack, Michael Clarke Duncan has just left intensive care but remains in the hospital. "His family are firm believers in the power of prayer and have asked that you keep him in yours during this time," his rep says in a statement. The actor, 54, best known for playing John Coffey in the 1999 Tom Hanks hit The Green Mile, suffered the myocardial infarction on July 13. He reportedly was found by his girlfriend, The Apprentice contestant Omarosa Stallworth, 38, who performed CPR and revived him. "Everyday GOD continues to smile upon my luv Michael Clarke Duncan on this arduous road to recovery," she recently Tweeted. "God is with us every step of the way!!"

Rodan singer Jason Noble dies at age 40

Influential indie musician Jason Noble, of Rodan, Rachel's and Shipping News, has died of cancer in Bethesda, Md., his family said online. He was 40. Noble was diagnosed in 2009 with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects the body's soft tissue. A champion of the Louisville, Ky., music scene, Noble was the chief vocalist and guitarist in Rodan, who formed in 1992. With a dynamic, intricate art-punk sound, Rodan and fellow Louisville group Slint deeply influenced the sound of post-hardcore in the '90. Rodan released one album, 1994's "Rusty," before disbanding the following year. After Rodan, Noble helped found Rachel's, which blended orchestral elements, including viola, cello, horns and piano, with guitars, electric bass and other more traditional rock instruments. The group released five studio albums, including their last, "Systems/Layers," in 2003. Noble also reteamed with Rodan guitarist Jeff Mueller as Shipping News, recording four albums under the moniker.
 Natalie Portman said "I do" on Saturday night to her fiancé of two years, French dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, on the scenic central California coast of Big Sur. Surrounded by family (even 14-month-old son Aleph!) and friends, including Ivanka Trump and Macaulay Culkin, the pair exchanged vows after dark in a Jewish ceremony at a private home facing the ocean. The Oscar winner, 31, first met Millepied, 35, on the set of Black Swan in the fall of 2009. He worked as a choreographer on the film and the two started to date during the shoot. By December 2010, the couple announced they were engaged and expecting their first child.

Stevie Wonder Files for Divorce

Music legend Stevie Wonder has filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years, fashion designer Kai Millard Morris. Wonder reveals he has been separated from Morris since October 2009, according papers filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. He cites irreconcilable differences and requests joint custody of the couple's two sons, ages 10 and 7. The musician, 63, states that he will pay both spousal and child support.

  Michael Phelps and girlfriend Megan Rossee have apparently been dating for about five months, but that wasn't well known to the public until the two made an appearance together at a Speedo event in London on Monday night. Rossee is a model and actress with experience in "High Fashion Print, Runway, Film and Television." She lists herself as a 5'9.5" blonde with blue-green eyes. The two were seen leaving a club on Sunday but at that time Rossee's identity was a mystery to many. Rossee hasn't exactly been quiet about her relationship with Phelps. Her Twitter account is filled with Phelps-related items and indicates she attended the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb., to watch him swim.

Sharon Osbourne quit 'America's Got Talent' over son's TV dispute

Sharon Osbourne has opened up about her decision to leave "America's Got Talent," insisting a dispute with NBC executives over her son, Jack's, multiple sclerosis diagnosis prompted her resignation. Osbourne took to Twitter on July 24 to respond to remarks made by fellow judge Howard Stern about her departure, but did not expand on her reasons for quitting the NBC talent competition. She wrote, "My darling Howard Stern, money is not the reason I'm not returning to ('America's Got Talent'), it's because ..."  Osbourne has now revealed she felt compelled to quit after her son, Jack, was allegedly dropped from new show "Stars Earn Stripes," which pits celebrities against one another in military training exercises, after he went public with his health battle in June. She tells the New York Post, "I just can't be fake. It's discrimination, and it was badly handled.

T-Boz Sells Her Home at a Loss
The TLC singer almost lost her home in 2008 when she failed to make the mortgage payments on time, but was able to keep it from going on the auction block. She eventually filed for bankruptcy in 2011, with the mortgage on her home being her main debt. Now the house is no longer a problem … she sold it for $680,000, a far cry from the $1,122,700 price she purchased it for back in 2001.

Matthew McConaughey is the latest to join Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf Of Wall Street" about the rise and fall of stockbroker Jordan Belfort (Leonardo Di Caprio). McConaughey has signed up to play the early boss and mentor to Belfort. Shooting kicks off this month in New York.

All-star lineup joins 'A Very Special Christmas'

Christina Aguilera, Michael Buble, Dave Matthews and Train are among the acts helping Special Olympics celebrate the 25th anniversary of its "A Very Special Christmas" album series. Two albums will be released Oct. 16 to celebrate the partnership, which has raised more than $100 million for Special Olympics. "A Very Special Christmas 25th Anniversary" will be released on Big Machine Records and Word Records will issue "A Very Special Christmas: Bringing Peace on Earth." Maria Shriver said the albums have become the largest single source of funding for the Special Olympics and its athletes. "This 25th anniversary will be the biggest year in the history of this series," he said. "This is music that continues to sell. People buy it. They enjoy it. They think it's just great Christmas music, but it's more than that. It's changing the world." Other artists involved in the project include Jason Mraz, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, Cheap Trick, Natalie Grant, Sidewalk Prophets and Jamie Grace.


Doctor Who
Richard E. Grant and Tom Ward are set to star in this year's Christmas special of BBC's "Doctor Who" which begins filming this week. Grant has previously played 'The Doctor' twice but not on the official show - once in an online animated series and once in a 1996 Comic Relief sketch.

Terrence Howard has signed on for Filip Jan Rymsza's modern L.A. thriller "A Girl and a Gun". Juno Temple, Luis Guzman and Christopher Walken also star. Howard will play the lead of Ian, a hustler with big Hollywood dreams who’s going nowhere fast until he intervenes in a mugging and get pulled in to a world of intrigue.

FX makes deal with Dr. Dre for drama about music and crime

FX has closed a script development deal with Dr. Dre and writer Sidney Quashie for a one-hour drama pilot that will explore present-day Los Angeles through "the music business and the crime business."  

Katherine Jackson Reinstated as Guardian of Michael Jackson's Children The Jackson family turmoil appears to be settling down as matriarch Katherine Jackson was reinstated as a guardian of her grandchildren and Jermaine Jackson backed off on a challenge of his brother Michael's will. At a hearing Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff found that Katherine was doing a "wonderful job" with the late singer's kids, Prince, 15, Paris, 14, and Blanket, 10. "It's clear to me that the children are well cared for by Mrs. Jackson," the judge said. It is clear to me they love her very much." The judge also said that the children's cousin T.J. Jackson – installed at an earlier emergency hearing as temporary guardian – would remain in that position and later share full guardian duties with Katherine. The ruling came after Michael's brother Jermaine said he had withdrawn his signature from a letter calling Michael's will "fake, flawed and fraudulent" and accusing the executors of the estate of mismanagement and other misdeeds. "After much soul-searching, it is clearly time for us to live by Michael's words about love not war," he wrote in a statement posted on Twitter, where much of the infighting has played out. "In this spirit, I offer this statement by way of extending an olive branch." He added: "Mistakes have been made and irrational things have been said on both sides in a highly-charged emotional environment. It is time for us all to draw a line in the sand and move towards peace, co-operation, love and healing."

Cuba Gooding Jr.: Bartender Won't Press Charges A New Orleans female bartender who says she was shoved by Cuba Gooding Jr. won't press charges over a disruption that may have started when other restaurant patrons wanted pictures with the actor. "While we continue to investigate this matter internally, we are hopeful that this will put an end to the matter," says Old Absinthe House spokeswoman Carolyn Pierce. Gooding, 44, who is in New Orleans filming The Butler about the White House butler who served eight presidents, was temporarily the subject of an arrest warrant on a misdemeanor charge of municipal battery. The bartender told police the Oscar-winning actor – upset after people starting asking him to pose for pictures around 3 a.m. Tuesday – pushed her when she asked him to calm down. He pushed her again when she told him to leave, she said. By the time police arrived, Gooding was gone. The arrest warrant was later lifted and Gooding's rep called the incident a "misunderstanding." A court date was set for Friday but it wasn't known whether Gooding was required to appear.

Breaking Dawn: Part 2 Promotion Moving 'Full Steam Ahead' with Rob Pattinson, Kristen Stewart The show must go on for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. The Breaking Dawn: Part 2 costars – and exes – who are barely speaking following Stewart's recent cheating scandal with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, are still scheduled to join the rest of their cast to promote the final film in the Twilight saga. "While it is studio policy not to comment on the personal lives of actors, Summit is moving full steam ahead and looking forward to this November's opening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 2," Nancy Kirkpatrick, the studio's president of worldwide marketing says. "We are confident that the film delivers amazing entertainment for our passionate fans and general audience alike." Before the film's Nov. 16 premiere, Pattinson, 26, will make his first public appearance since Stewart's scandal on Aug. 13 at the N.Y.C. premiere of Cosmopolis, a film his rep says he is "very proud of and looking forward to supporting."

latoya Jackson Reality Show Coming The Jackson family’s ongoing public feud already feels like a reality show minus the editing, but now one of the Jackson siblings is about to star in the real deal. While announcing its fall lineup on Thursday, Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network revealed that it has a La Toya Jackson reality show in the works for 2013. Titled “Life with La Toya,” the program is expected to get “up close and personal” as La Toya “juggles the many demands of her famous family, her life-long friends, and her growing entertainment business empire,” a statement from OWN says. Apparently, La Toya is known as “outspoken,” as the OWN statement describes, but the new show aims to display all the sides to La Toya as she searches for romance and considers building her own family. For her part, La Toya Jackson told CNN that she’s “so pleased to be working with television legend Oprah Winfrey and to be a part of the OWN family. This will be one of the most exciting adventures of my life.” Before “Life with La Toya” arrives in 2013, OWN plans to air some “Oprah”-centric programming, including a series called “TV Guide Magazine’s Top 25 Best Oprah Show Moments.” As you can probably guess, it’ll focus on the most memorable moments during “Oprah’s” 25-year run; that series will launch August 28 at 9 p.m. OWN will also ask “Where are They Now?” of some of the long-running talk show’s unforgettable guests, and Iyanla Vanzant will be on call to help the troubled with “Iyanla, Fix My Life.” Vanzant’s series will premiere on September 15 at 10 p.m., while “Oprah: Where are They Now?” will launch October 2 at 9 p.m. “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s”; two new special episodes of “Oprah’s Lifeclass”; and “Oprah’s Next Chapter” will also return to the network in the fall, with “Next Chapter” boasting interviews with Kelsey Grammer and wife Kayte;  Stephen Colbert, Bette Midler; and Jennifer Hudson.Also on tap for 2013 are two other reality shows: “Neighborvention,” which will feature a new community each week as its members come together and help out a neighbor in need;  and “The Customer is Always Right,” which allows two customers to essentially act as consultants for big-name companies and gives them the chance to earn $10,000 if the companies like the changes suggested.

The Hobbit to be Three Films Apparently, when it comes to Middle-earth, director Peter Jackson thinks three is the magic number. Last month at Comic-Con, Jackson teased fans with the idea that he was interested in pushing beyond his planned two-film adaptation of "The Hobbit." Today, after weeks of intensive talks with Warner Bros. over how exactly that might be achieved, Jackson announced on his Facebook page that he is, in fact, going to turn "The Hobbit" into a trilogy. "It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made," Jackson wrote. "Recently Fran [Walsh], Phil[lippa Boyens] and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie — and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved 'yes.'" How exactly The Hobbit will be turned into a three-film series is still somewhat unclear, though. As Jackson has acknowledged, "The Hobbit" is a slender story compared with the far more sprawling and complex "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. But the director is drawing not only on the original book, but also on more than a hundred pages of appendices Tolkien later wrote that expanded on the world of "The Hobbit." Jackson is obviously confident that all of this material taken together can sustain three films and hinted in his announcement at what narrative elements will be incorporated to fill out the trilogy. "We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance," he wrote. "The richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, allows us to tell the full story of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth."

Snoop Dogg Making Reggae Album Snoop Dogg will be making a foray into reggae on his next LP, Pitchfork reports.The LP, titled "Reincarnated," will see release later this year on the Vice label, with the rapper adopting the new name Snoop Lion. The first single, "La La La," is available now and features production from Diplo and Ariel Rechtshaid, while Major Lazer is credited as executive producer. You can check out the new track below. According to the rapper's website, Snoop Lion & the Jungle will make their first live appearance on August 3rd at Toronto's Caribana 2012.
